Im sure that sir lens goal was a screamer from about 30 yards and they had to repair the nets after, taking about 5 minutes!!
I can’t remember how the goals went in but Badger did score at least one screamer from memory, whether it was in this game I don’t know.
What I do know though, in typical United fashion, we lost 5-1 at lowly Crystal Palace in our next game.

Surprised the hammering we gave Spurs wasn't in there. Can't really argue too much with that list tho as the games mentioned were brilliant games. It's not every day that we thump Spurs 6 nil tho.
I know, but it was a rare home game that I missed 😭

Darlington. My number 2 after Leicester1, With Bouncing Day 3, Bobbys night in the rain 4. Another great day not mentioned was the Cup game at Villa, its where my lad got it and understood why we had to watch so much shit, to make the highs even higher, for that one game I never slag of Flynn.

Ryan Flynn could have been a really good player, he frustrated me. I love a skilful fast winger and I had high hopes for him.

Based on games I watched live in no particular order
Coventry FA Cup tie
4-2 Owls win
Forest play off semi
Fulham 5-4 game
4-0 win over port vale that could have been 8
Hull semi final
A 3-2 win over Hull at the lane in the Warnock promotion season
2-0 win over Brentford with 10 men under Wilder

I remember we had loads of goals disallowed against Port Vale at home!

Number 1 has to be the day never 2-4 get for me.

Not only was the victory so enigmatic, but it also signalled the eventual downfall of the pigs into debt, despair and (one day) the Evo Stik Northern Premier Division :)

I am shocked and stunned that no one has mentioned the game against West Ham from 1975. Quality goal from a quality player game. In those days at the end of each season MOTD used to pick about 6 games out and show them again in a special programme. This game against West Ham was one of the six from that season. The Sunday People back then used to score every player from every Division 1 game out of 10 on performance with 10 out of 10 being an extremely rare event, almost unheard of. TC for this game scored that elusive 10.If I could ever re-live a game it would be this one.

In terms of games I've been to (in no particular order)...

United 4 Peterboro 0 - clinching 4th Division promotion in style. Edwards scores his 35th goal of the season to win an award sponsored by Coca-Cola.
United 5 Scunthorpe 3 - third division from 1983
Hull 5 United 3 - FA Cup semi 2014 (we turned up!)
United 2 Wednesday 0 - finally got one over them in 1991 after what felt ages being second best
United 3 Bradford 0 - Leon scores twice and Blades played fantastic football that day
United 2 Man Utd 1 - FA Cup 5th round 1993. Glyn Hodges chips Schmeichel
United 4 Forest 3 - that play off semi
United 2 Liverpool 1 - League semi 1st leg 2003. Tonge scores 2 great goals
United 3 Burnley 0 - Premier League 2019. Could have been 5 or 6. We played so well that day, for me probably the most complete performance under Wilder.
United 2 Spurs 2 - League Cup semi 2nd leg 2015. What might have been. Adams comes on and turns the tie on it's head, then Reed had a great chance to make it 3-1. Fantastic atmosphere in swirling snowy conditions.

For me, when we played Arsenal at the lane. They debuted Jeff Blockley, big centre half, signed from Leicester for £250,000. Our £10,000 striker, Mr Billy (three lungs) Dearden, ran him ragged. Kick off was at 7.30, by 7.45, we were 3 - 0 up!!!!!

Blockley was signed from Coventry the year before, but did have a bad game on his debut at the Lane when Dearden scored the winner in a 1-0 win.
You’re correct though, that he was in the team that we beat 5-0 the following season in an outstanding game.

This must the game when TC sat on the ball at the end of the match, we won 5-0. Another very memorable game from the day.

Of those I've seen live the Forest playoff semi, 5-3 v Cardiff and 3-1 v Pigs

I thought the 4-0 win away at Peterborough that 4th Division season was just magnificent. Only just before we played them in the home game. A dark midweek game in an old fashioned stadium full of travelling Blades and we hammered them.

didnt we take 8k fans that night ? and that lot only took 3k to qpr 😉😉

The top ten games that I have seen, for entertainment value:
10. United 1 Arsenal 0 (2006) only the one goal, Christian Nade making himself a legend. But the fact that we played half an hour with Phil Jagielka in goal made this game extra special.
9.United 3 Nottingham Forest 2 (1990) It was December 22nd and we still hadn't won a game all season, and we were starting to wonder where that win would come. We go a goal up, only for Roy Keane to go straight up and score and Pearce to get a second. A rare Bryson header and then Deane scores the winner in front of the Kop. We celebrated like we had won the league.
8. Nottingham Forest 2 Sheffield United 5 (1992) I can't remember the details, but I didn't go to many away games then (the previous one had also finished 5-2). To see United outplay a Clough team, and Mike 'Zico' Lake score one of his wonder goals was great to see. We have had so many good games against Forest, the home match that season finished 4-2 to us.
7. United 2 Manchester United 1 (FA Cup 5th round 1993). A rare TV live game for us, I didn't give us much chance, especially when Giggs put Man Utd in front. But such a good comeback, and a classic goal by Hodges, which got Motson enthusing about his left foot!
6.Hull 5 United 3 FA Cup Semi Final 2014. OK we lost. But we gave it such a go and to be winning at half time and 45 minutes away from a cup final seemed unreal. Sadly we lost, but will always remember Hull's 5th goal when United fans started clapping. Not seen that before.
5. United 7 Northampton 3, 1982. I can't remember much about this except it chucked it down with rain all evening and there were loads of goals, more than I have ever seen at a United game. We were 6-0 up after an hour so really we should have won by more!
4. United 5 Brighton 4 (1990).the craziest game in our promotion season. 3-0 up we relaxed and suddenly found ourselves 4-3 down. Like Wilder's teams we never gave up and John Francis winning header will live long in the memory.
3. United 4 Forest 3 (playoffs 2003). Forest again! We were playing well but found ourselves 2-9 down. What a comeback and to make it even betwr Des Walker scored an own goal! Peschisolido's goal celebration an iconic image.
2. Wednesday 2 United 4 (2017). Our first game at Hillsborough for years. I missed the first two goals due to the police not letting us in and thought that I had wasted my money. I would have paid ten times the ticket price just to see Duffy stop the Wednesday fans bouncing!
1. Leicester 2 United 5 (1990). I don't think a game could be more perfect. United go up, Wednesday go down and it is boiling hot weather. When we go a goal down we all fear the worst, but then it is a goal fest for us, all the goals greeted with a pitch invasion by jubilant fans.
Games I've actually been to but not in any particular order just adding as I recall them

Weds 1 - utd 3
United 3 forest 2
United 4 forest 3
United 6 spurs 0
Villa 1 United 2 (fac)
QPR 1 United 2 (kept us up in div1)
United 1 arsenal 0 (fac Carl veart)
Reading 0 United 3 (perfect away performance)
United 2 Charlton 0 (fac)
United 2 weds 0 (Chris woods)

United 7 Ipswich 0 71/2 Season.I just wish I could remember who scored.I was home for the weekend from Poly and made the journey back all the sweeter.Stood on the terrace for the match with my girlfriend at the time;was her first match,no idea whether she went to another.
Woody scored 4 including one from near half way over Laurie Sivill who was not the tallest of keepers.

More than likely.. That expression "if memory serves.." ? Mines mainly double-faults these days

I went to this first division match and when I went home in high spirits I told my dad - a Wendy fan - about the match and he said “ if Wednesday had been playing it would have been 8 or 9 nil. Ipswich are rubbish.” Wendy were struggling in Division 2 at the time...Grrrh

Always gonna be a difficult one this me I my 43 years of visiting the shrine . Gone for the ones below but so many others could have made the list 2-1win over Man U FA Cup 93 & first game of PL 2-1 91 , beating Spurs 6-0 in 93 , Leeds away 1-0 in 2019 & 4-0 2005 , Liverpool 1-0 in League Cup in 78 , the list goes on !

Leicester 2-5 Utd 1990
If Carlsberg did away days ,just the best day ever being a Blade came back from losing to hammer them & get promoted , 10K plus Blades in full party mode & the icing on the cake .. oinks get relegated same day

Darlington 0-2 Utd 1982
First time I’d seen us win anything still one of the most memorable days & seasons . Invasion of Darlo with scenes that will never be seen again .

Weds 1-3 Utd 1993
After turning the pigs over 2-0 at The Lane in Nov that season against all the odds , we visited Swillsboro in March with the odds even more stacked against us . Just fkg brilliant .. Bobby Davison

Weds 2-4 Utd 2017
After all you’ve won the pub league jibes from S6 & you’ll get yer comeuppance. Absolutely played them off the park & the bounce killer will stay with me forever

Utd 4-3 Forest 2003
Probably one of the best comebacks I’ve seen from a Utd side from turning around a 2 goal deficit. You always believed in the team that season , never say die & scored goals for fun . Incredible night , pity we didn’t save in for the final

Utd 2-0 Weds 1991
Massive underdogs against the high flying pigs that had already decided this was a foregone conclusion, step forward Deano & Dane.

Utd 2-1 Liverpool LC SF 2003
Coming back from behind to beat one of the best sides in the country at the time . Played well at Anfield in return & should have had a pen when Kirkland assaulted Mooney .

Utd 3-3 Man Utd 2019
For 65 mins played some of the best football I have seen from a Sheff Utd team in my time , got caught with a 6 mins blitz from Man U but didn’t tell story of the game , showed loads of character coming back & getting the last min equaliser

Utd 1-0 Arsenal FA Cup 2006
Beat & played off the park one the best teams in the country, Gordon Cowans absolutely ran the show one of best performances I’ve seen off a Blades midfielder in my time

Utd 4-1 Villa 2018
This ones in for the best 45 mins of football I’d seen from a Utd team against on paper one of the best teams in the division. The score line could & should have been far more but the football was an absolute delight to watch

UTB ⚔️⚔️⚔️
