The top ten games that I have seen, for entertainment value:
10. United 1 Arsenal 0 (2006) only the one goal, Christian Nade making himself a legend. But the fact that we played half an hour with Phil Jagielka in goal made this game extra special.
9.United 3 Nottingham Forest 2 (1990) It was December 22nd and we still hadn't won a game all season, and we were starting to wonder where that win would come. We go a goal up, only for Roy Keane to go straight up and score and Pearce to get a second. A rare Bryson header and then Deane scores the winner in front of the Kop. We celebrated like we had won the league.
8. Nottingham Forest 2 Sheffield United 5 (1992) I can't remember the details, but I didn't go to many away games then (the previous one had also finished 5-2). To see United outplay a Clough team, and Mike 'Zico' Lake score one of his wonder goals was great to see. We have had so many good games against Forest, the home match that season finished 4-2 to us.
7. United 2 Manchester United 1 (FA Cup 5th round 1993). A rare TV live game for us, I didn't give us much chance, especially when Giggs put Man Utd in front. But such a good comeback, and a classic goal by Hodges, which got Motson enthusing about his left foot!
6.Hull 5 United 3 FA Cup Semi Final 2014. OK we lost. But we gave it such a go and to be winning at half time and 45 minutes away from a cup final seemed unreal. Sadly we lost, but will always remember Hull's 5th goal when United fans started clapping. Not seen that before.
5. United 7 Northampton 3, 1982. I can't remember much about this except it chucked it down with rain all evening and there were loads of goals, more than I have ever seen at a United game. We were 6-0 up after an hour so really we should have won by more!
4. United 5 Brighton 4 (1990).the craziest game in our promotion season. 3-0 up we relaxed and suddenly found ourselves 4-3 down. Like Wilder's teams we never gave up and John Francis winning header will live long in the memory.
3. United 4 Forest 3 (playoffs 2003). Forest again! We were playing well but found ourselves 2-9 down. What a comeback and to make it even betwr Des Walker scored an own goal! Peschisolido's goal celebration an iconic image.
2. Wednesday 2 United 4 (2017). Our first game at Hillsborough for years. I missed the first two goals due to the police not letting us in and thought that I had wasted my money. I would have paid ten times the ticket price just to see Duffy stop the Wednesday fans bouncing!
1. Leicester 2 United 5 (1990). I don't think a game could be more perfect. United go up, Wednesday go down and it is boiling hot weather. When we go a goal down we all fear the worst, but then it is a goal fest for us, all the goals greeted with a pitch invasion by jubilant fans.

Bobby Davidson night has to get in top 3!!

Taking away the obvious extra thrill of a derby victory, that play off semi final against Forest had just about everything from an entertainment point of view. I think we went through just about every emotion there is that night. A real rollercoaster that takes some beating. Although derby victories are sweeter it’s probably the most entertaining game I’ve been to in 40 odd years of watching the Blades

A few I remember (I had to attend for it to count)

Forest play offs
Derby on Boxing Day 2018
Leeds Cup games
0-4 at Leeds
Coventry in the cup
Forest at home - first win back in old Div 1
Pigs 2-0 that same season
Pigs 1-3 that same season
1-2 at Wolves. Katchouro and David White
Preston 3-2 when James Thomas of all people got the winner

You're right the Derby match was a classic, helped by the fact that the ref was useless!

I wasn't there but I'm sure LUFC 0 - 1 SUFC 16/3/19 can't be far off the top ten. Fuck it, who cares if he's shit from now on, get Basham a statute in the Cherry St carpark right now cos he deserves it for that goal.
That was in my initial list!

This was live on BBC1 if I remember, my Grandad and I were in the South Stand and when Hodges goal went in I think it was one of the best feelings of celebrating a goal ever. We were that buzzed when we got home we watched the whole match again.

United 7 Ipswich 0 71/2 Season.I just wish I could remember who scored.I was home for the weekend from Poly and made the journey back all the sweeter.Stood on the terrace for the match with my girlfriend at the time;was her first match,no idea whether she went to another.

I'm in agreement with most of this. The only thing I'd disagree on is your comment a rare Bryson header, I seem to remember him scoring a few back post headers.

United 4-4 Birmingham was a cracking game under Kendall. Real back and forth game where we went from brilliant to bollocks several times in the same match.

The 2-2 draw v Barnsley at the beginning of the 5th round cup marathon was a cracker, infront of 33k and a marching band.

3-3 away to Port Vale was both a cracker and a vital point in the contect of the season (Deane last minute equaliser, we were 3-1 down with not long to go at one point).

Jags and Nuddy v L**ds is maybe the most mental I've gone at a match, hugging strangers anything up to 5 rows away.

A flying heasder v BOurnemouth on the FA cup (having missed a pen 5 seconds earlier) and an astonishing header at Goodison Park where he seemed to leap 6 foot in the air and hang for about 5 seconds spring to mind. Good player was Jock.

One question. Bassett was manager for almost 8 years, and 5 games from his era are on your list. Wilder has been here 4 years, and there is just the one game from his time. Ask most Blades, and they will say Wilder's teams are great to watch, whereas Bassett's teams did not play football that was easy on the eye. Does Bassett's contribution deserve greater recognition?

A good point, under Wilder we are seeing the best football I have seen no doubt about that. But in terms of classic games, I think there probably were more under Bassett. Someone did mention the Boxing Day match against Derby in our promotion year under Wilder and I agree that could have got a mention.
