Not disagreeing about his contract, fact is in hindsite we could have offered him MORE than Everton could afford to have paid him [which would have been seen as crazy at the time but would be within the £6m budget we've wasted].

Would Everton have offered him 40K/week when we could have and not spent any more than we have is the point.

Not bothered what his contract said he would not have turned down 40k to be on 25k at Everton.

Assuming he wouldn't have, then you'd have had one player on 40K and the rest of the squad would have been quite happy with this, I suppose? It would have been a farce. You can't run a club in such a way. Even McCabe could see that.
