1972 to 1975. Broke his leg twice (Oct 1973 and July/August 1974)
Silent it's fair to say that Rodney Marsh broke Tommo's leg, he went in when no need even Denis Law gave him a round of fucks.

1. Alan Hodgkinson
The best

2. Tom McAllister
Very close

3. Simon Tracey
Tracey was great but had a tendency to stand well off his line, especially P/Off final 97.

4. Alan Kelly

Great shot stopper as said.

I also think Brown, Conroy, Waugh also deserve a mention, sadly illness robbed us of finding out just how good Mel Rees would have been but he would have been up there RIP son xx

I remember hearing he was a character but he was a bit before my time.

His son writes for the BBC's tech department, not the usual path for the son of a footballer to take!
Budgie was mad in a great way, he went to Soton when left us me and couple of mates were in Hillsbro' Park and pigs playing Soton, Budgie was training in park we had a good chat with him.

My memories of Burridge were

1: During his pre match warm ups he was obviously a bit of a gymnast and would do pull ups on the cross bar and do hand stands and walk on his hands.
I remember Liverpool’s Bruce Grobelaar also used to walk on his hands pre match.

2: I don’t think he was that tall but was incredibly agile.
He had this knack of making many saves look spectacular.
Any shots towards the top corner…he would kind of do a somersault mid air…tip it around the post then when he landed do multiple rolls…
and you thought…”wow what’s save”. Later on tv…you’d see the shot was quite central, quite an easy save but he made a meal of it.

3: He always seemed a bit mad…constantly talking to our players and opposition players all match.

remember that game with city at the lane when marsh broke tom mcallisters leg horrific challenge went right over the top of the ball cowards challenge 🤨
Hated that dirty snidey bastard ever since
Could hear the crack from where I was on the kop and toms scream of agony
Never forget or forgive that
Making me rage even thinking about it
[/QUOTE]
yes i was on the kop that day and heard the crack and the sickening scream from tom as another poster has said dennis law gave marsh a right bollocking over that cowardly challenge

And that’s not even the worst of it .

What few people seem to remember but I certainly do , is the fact that as Tom was being stretchered off he stood in front off the kop pointing to the boot he did it with , with a big smile on his face .

Probably the most disgusting thing I ever saw on a football pitch .

1. Kelly
2. Tracey
3. Rees
4. Hendo
5. Ramsdale

Amazing that we had my top 3 at the same time! Incredible really. Mel Rees's performance at Everton is still the finest goalkeeping display I've ever seen. It really was something else and feel privileged to have seen it. Neville Southall clapped every save while we sang "Wales, Wales number 1" (Southall was Wales number 1 and must have been worried for his place after that display).
One particular save from Peter Beardsley that day sticks in the memory. One of the best I've seen and a certain goal but for Rees.

If you put Tracey above Kelly you're a wrong un.

Tracey's total league record is P 323 W 127 D 91 L 101. 55 Cup games W 24 D 10 L 20

Alan Kelly 215 league games won 71 drew 74 and lost 70. 37 Cup games won 14 drew 9 and lost 14

Interesting, but doesn't change my very opinionated opinion :)

Hodgy was a hard act to follow, but I was a John Hope fan back in the day.
Good memories of Simon Tracey, Alan Kelly, Mel Rees and Paddy also.
