Most blades fans don't realize that League 1 will only do us good. It will help us build a new, good and solid team up that will send us right back to the NPower Championship. But a team as big as us should not be in League 1.
Kevin Mccabe has caused it all to go wrong. Constantly changing managers, getting rid of quality players etc have all played a big part in this. The moment where Kevin Blackwell left is the key moment where League 1 was definatly going to become a reality.
What's the point in going through all your pre-season games, signing new players and sorting out all your plans for the campaign for Kevin Mccabe to then get rid of Blackwell three games into the season. It just doesn't make sense. Did Mccabe think this was going to help the club start pushing up the table?! It clearly effected all the players mind-sets and really made the team lose concentration.
But then to appoint Gary Speed as manager! That was the most stupid mistake yet! This is a guy who has no mangerial expierience at all, so he clearly won't know how to handle the situation that we were in. Let's be honest, Speed was only there because of his name! What Sheffield United should have done is make him sign a contract (because The Board should have known Wales were looking at him) that stated he would stay all season. It was so obviouse Speed was going to sell us out (and just look at how bad he's doing at Wales!).
What Mccabe should have done after that is get an expierienced manager in (someone who would know how to avoid the drop) but instead decided to hire Micky Adams - a worser manager than Speed. I think Micky's record somes everything up - 4 wins in 24 games or something like that.
The team I've done below is of our past players (some present) who we could have easily kept. The team could all be playing for us now and would probably of took us to the Premiership.
