To take our minds away from the "difficult" times at the Lane - I have an invitation for you all.

Last year about a dozen Forum members headed over the Pennines to support the Beer Festival organised by Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust in their efforts to keep their club going.

Everyone had a cracking time and us Blades were given a tour of the ground, introduced to the Chairman etc.

Pez - the organiser at NVST - has just PM'ed to invite us again this year, as their plans are coming along and tickets are at the printers. Once again, I think we're the only other club to be invited.

This years details are - The event is to be held on Sat 25th June at Victoria Stadium in Northwich, and the prices have been kept at £5.00 a ticket. Once again numbers are fixed by the fire regs, so we'll to order via Pez.

Pez would like to get some ideas of numbers asap - so could you either sign up on this thread or PM me if you're interested. Ideas for beers may well be welcomed later, and we may once again be invited to contribute a "Blades Keg" that we can name as we please. If people are interested, I'm sure we'll can arrange another meet in the Lion to thrash our travel and accom details closer to the date. I'll forward the details on to Pez.

NVST are a great bunch of fans who have seen their club relegated twice on financial technicalities (the second time very questionably) -and have had a chairman who viewed the ground as his personal pension plan and who locked the club out for a number of fixtures. Throughout all this, NVST have arranged sponsored walks, designed and sold merchandise and arranged fund raisers like the beer festivals to keep their club alive.

I know it can feel tough being a Blade - but this lot have really been through the wringer! So if you'd fancy helping out a grand old club (they're older than us) - and having a great evening away - sign up here!!

Only rule is - red and white stripes on the day!!

I'm up for this. I'm sure the same crew would be up for it too.

Dependent on any pre-season tour, we'd be up for it.

The one bit of good news is that we don't have an England game to watch (or should that be suffer !!). This will be our third beer festival (run by fans helped by the Supporters Club & Trust) in an attempt to raise much needed funds for the club. As Sheepdip has said we have not had a very good few years with the Conference League big wigs & The FA with us avoiding relegation but thrown out then finishing mid table (Conf North) but thrown out further down the football pyramid !!

It would be great to see our friends from over the top at the beer fest in your football shirts but there is one thing we can not guarantee & that is "a pint for a quid" like last time.

Pez

(PS Linz please reply to my PM).

I'm interested. What are the travel arrangements from Sheffield anyone? Is it train or hire a mini bus and driver?

OK - we may be about where we were at last year.

Will someone tell me if this is wrong - People interested are

Me
LucySUFC
Foxy (depending on pre season dates)
Linz (as above)
Silver (as above)
The One
Mousey?
Jon Bon

The people missing are the Cheshire based Blades who signed up last year - who would be more than welcome again to join us again this time around.

A couple of thoughts -

I have a PM from one of the Vics fans who is still interested in a inter-forum game with us. Perhaps we could hold this before the festival kicks off? And more far-fetched - if pre season becomes an issue, could we suggest a friendly against the Vics on the day - we play against Worksop who are in a lower league than Vics, so why not?

If anyone else is keen to come along - will you sign up on here so Pez (at Vics Supporters Trust) can reserve tickets for us? Ta

Jon Bon - Last year we sorted stuff out with about 3 weeks to go. People made their own ways across (usually by sharing cars) and most people stayed in Knutsford (I think - me and HH camped out at a pub that stayed open all night!!). Once numbers are firmed up, we'll arrange another meet in the Lion to sort all this out. Keep an eye on this thread mate.

Oh go on Silverfox you enjoyed it last time, this time I am sure you would enjoy searching out the "pint for a pound" before the beer fest as well as getting your sun tan cream from our local branch of "Boots".

Tickets will be going on sale as of this Saturday (hope Alex has got them printed !!) at out home game V Retford Town, Sheepdipblade has taken it on himself to be the organiser from your end (please make sure you pay him for tickets as he was let down last year by a couple of people).

It should be a great evening again and the bar challenge set down by our local Camra Chairman is to drink every drink from one corner to the other.

Pez.

Fairly sad after last year you miserable buggers ;)

Could everyone else let me know asap so we don't mess the organisers around? Ta.

I know some people like Brownie are waiting on work rotas and I'll see what we can sort out later for them.

Pez - Good luck at Mickleover Sports tomorrow night mate - time to get your play-off push back on track!!

Tickets went on sale today at the ground, not sold out yet plenty left for you !!

We are definately up for it, it's just we want to make entirely sure it doesn't clash with any pre-season... Will try and find out asap.

How much are tickets and when is the festival? I may be able to get a few more tickets sold

---------- Post added at 07:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:03 PM ----------

I have just used my eyes and looked above.

This is looking good, numbers are slowly increasing. We are having a Beer Fest meeting tomorrow night after our game V Colwyn Bay but it is a little early to advise re beers we are looking at having for the festival.

Just to bring this back to the top do we have an up to date list, tickets are on sale & after a slow start are now going well. It may be the thing that both sets of supporters need after what is looking like a dire season (again !!) Such is my enthusiasm in football this weekend I am off on a "Camra Founders" 40th Anniversary Pub Crawl of Chester on Saturday as this is where it all started in 1971. I am also trying to get ideas for ales for the festival or at least new breweries that our bar manager may be able to obtain for us.

Spoke to Pez (aka Green Hornet) yesterday and have asked for 12 tickets to be held for us Blades. Names in the frame are -

Me
Lucy
Brownie
Foxy
Linz
The One
Keenzy
(Silver Fox?)

If anyone else is interested can you let me know asap via this thread or a PM. This means you - Raul! :D

Keenzy - will you let me know if you had any takers - and if we need more than 12 tickets - ta

I'll do as last year as send Pez a cheque for us all (like to have it sent by fri at the latest if people can confirm before then) - and we can sort out the monies between us later.

Do we want to meet up in the Lion to arrange wheels and accom again?

I don't think i will need any more tickets. ill chase him up about it.
Did you stop at a camp site last year?

Beer choice meeting is to be held in May, open for suggestions re beers we may be able to obtain from our supplier. We have made a decision that we will increase the ciders to three this year due to how popular they were last year.

Okay people - I've sent the cheque off to Pez for tickets, but cos none of you miserable buggers got back to me after the last post I've had to take a bit of a punt on numbers :D

I've booked just eight tickets this year - with a ticket each for those named on the list a few posts earlier - though I've loosely assumed that Silver won't be with us this year cos of his holiday - but that Jon Bon might join us.

If you don't want to come along, will you let me or Pez know so he can try to sell the tickets on more locally?

Not had any further thoughts about accomodation or transport (just out of hospital so had other priorities I'm afraid) so do people want to organise things together like last year or just meet up at Victoria Stadium?

Talk to me people - It'll take your minds off BDTBL!

No problem about me not going. It is my last chance to get sorted for my holidays so I won't mind missing out. I'm sure you'll get 8 along as it was a great night!

Brings back memories of Grahame sniffing out the POUND a pint in Northwich Centre! :)

Hope you are OK with hospital visits and such!

Looking forward to seeing those of you who have booked with Sheepdipblade for tickets at the beer festival. Am sure if more want to attend, so long as they get names & money to Sheepdipblade we can sort out tickets, though these are going very fast now so if you want to attend get your skates on. Beer details will be made available at the end of May when we sort them out with the beer manager.

Pez.

Hope the Hospital stay will not reduce beer intake !!

Sorry Dippers, manning the tombola stand at Hunslet Show that day.

I'll be defo, but not be setting off until late afternoon as i'm on a 4am shift that day

Northwich has a complete lack of places to stay and after the shenanigans with the taxis last time, that is a big problem.

We got a taxi virtually straight away.
