Statement from Sheffield United FC

Radio Sheffield, paid for by the public, kissed the club's arse rather than doing what they're required to do, probably by the BBC Charter or summat.
Calling the people who pay their wages morons was just the cherry on the cake.

Some of us give up on Radio Sheffield years back.

Just can't understand why fans are now jumping on the bandwagon!

;)

heh.. these young uns .. some of them take a while to pick it up.. i never listen to radio pig personally.. met a guy once at a party who thought he was big time because he worked for RS .. 'oh.. you mean radio pig'.. i said.. he says 'what's that supposed to mean' so i said 'well mate i'm a blade so you work it out for yourself' :D

At least they didn't say, "While we don't take the penalties...". By the way, have I missed much whilst I've been in semi-cyber-retirement?

Christ, what a pack of slimy bastards.

Is Paul Walker going to continue calling us morons after the Club have come out and confirmed what Radio Sheffield callers have been saying for months? Twat.

Having given up on Radio Pig and its equally biased media partner, The Stir years ago I didn't hear what Paul Wanker said. He called us morons? Why? I'm not surprised Baaaarnsley banned them. Why don't they just carry on with their Wednesday love-in and accept that they are a pathetic station, solely reliant on the public purse, and like all these state-funded bodies the staff wouldn't get jobs anywhere else.

hopefully they will learn from previous mistakes and not sell future talent, get rid of the dead wood definately BUT work as hard as possible to keep the ones that will do a job in league 1 ie hendo, willo, quinny, morgs, build a new team round those 4 and for christs sake get a half decent keeper.
MunXy

Careful, part of our mismanagment has been that we've spent too much on a few lucky players. If those four are being kept, and you include a couple high earners that we may fail to get rid of (Cresswell, Evans, Simonsen?) you may be stuck with a weekly expense of 70k (at a guess). If we want to build a new team 70k would cover the 4k wages of 17 players and I think that's the sort of wage policy we should aim for now.

£6m on loans, but we couldn't afford to not sell the Kyles, give me fucking strength.

I appreciate the statement, but we have all known this for ages (minus the "actual" figures). To think these people are paid to run our club disgusts me, and I notice that True Blade King Kev still hasn't said a word either, sorry but I can't accept this spin after everything we have been fed for the last 18 months.

Bit of tarring all with same brush isn't it? I happen to be living proof that your broad brush statement is pure crap!

Correct Bergen

With Injuries and Red Cards we havn`t had 3 of those 4 players this season, and the 4th has been the weekly whipping boy.

Why gamble on their fitness for next season, and pay the lions share of the wage budget, and still not got rid of other deadwood.

Today I would be looking at shipping out all 7 names you mention, and what is left come August we build around with the Academy

Probably right, but I haven't fully (ahem) recovered from the events of the weekend. Sorry if I offended.

Correct Worksop....:D

I'd like to think, on top of this, we'd bring in a few fresh hungry faces. But most of the old guard should go, unless enormous pay cuts are to be accepted. And some, no matter what.

why do people insist in believing all our problems are down to agents - all clubs have to deal with them. its who you buy and what you spend that counts. beattie wasnt worth keeping yet halford was worth 28k a week for example. to come out with this pre-conceived crap is just about the last straw for me today.

UTB

Football agents are the biggest drag in football. They take so much money out of football. I dont mind paying admission money that goes to players wages and staff etc but I dont like the fact that it also goes to the pockets of these scumbags.

To be fair, they had to say something and whatever they said it would have been lacking to some degree or other. For me, a more blunt response from the heart in the manner of "we have failed badly, we have made mistake on mistake and can only hope the fans can forgive us as we attempt to rebuild for the future" would have been refreshingly honest and earnt a little respect.

Didn't we hear some time ago that we were relying too much on loans and that was going to change? So it's not good enough to repeat it now.

Also claiming we are going to build around young, upcoming players when the board have already shown they will sell our best youth for a half decent offer is clearly meaningless - and I don't think that is included in one of their "mistakes" that they've learnt from, as at the time of the Kyles' sales McCabe blamed agents and said he was helpless.

I have been arguing against the policy of investing in hotels, offices, foreign clubs and goodness knows what for years. Unfortunately it seems I was right, as it's done us no good at all. I find the attitude of these business men arrogant and condesending - I don't believe a club should be treated like a business anyway, but I agree with the comment already made that a serious business would have thrown them out on their ear long ago.

I could go on, and on, and on. But let's hope we at least have a decent season next year and can actually start to enjoy the football for a change.
