Bogle seems a bit out of form, Baldock seemingly injured I think I’d give him a go on Sunday.

I’ve only ever seen highlights of his performances but he looks powerful & athletic exactly the attributes you need in that position.

Powerful and Athletic. That's whats wrong with the "modern" game. What ever happened to skill and ball control?.
All you hear now is "he's quick": "what a engine": "he's great at holding the line". "He makes great runs into the channels ". Let's hope this young lad shows a bit of skill and quality. If you want power and athletic looking go down to the gym. Let's have skill and ball control on the grass at the Lane.

I think it was a bit poor from Hecky to throw him on for two minutes. What was the point? The poor lad wasn't even able to get near the ball in the time he had and it was at a stage of the game where we were (theoretically) chasing and equaliser. It just wasted time for us to score and didn't provide Femi with any real experience.

Hopefully he can get more of a run out on Sunday.

All you hear? Literally never hear that about United players and that's part of the problem. Too powder puff and pedestrian.

Chill out, I was literally complimenting one of his main attributes that he’s an athlete. Yes of course skill & quality are extremely important but you try and play RWB without being moderately quick & athletic you’ve got no chance. Look at some of the best RWB in the league they’re all athletes with footballing qualities but if you can’t get up and down the pitch you’ll never get chance to show “skill & ball control”

Walker, James, Trent, Robertson, Wan Bissaka, probably one of the best wingbacks in the league. All of their athletic qualities are frightening.

He’s the one who could be the most boom or bust at this stage his athleticism and attacking instincts could see him take a game by the scruff of the neck and cause real problems at senior level. On the other hand he is still raw and prem level wingers could put him in a blender defensively.

Maybe, but defenders with pace can get out of trouble. Kyle W was extremely raw when he first came into the team but he could turn on the afterburners when he appeared to have been beaten. I would like to see Seriki given a chance.

Not the way I see the game. What I see in the PL is skill combined with athleticism and strength.

I'm not saying today's game is better than decades ago but there is no less skill, just much fitter and stronger players.

One of Baldock or Bogle probably needs to be moved on for this lad to get a chance. Having said that Baldock is been below his previous standards this season and Bogle after starting well seems to have lost his way a little, so there maybe linited interest in either. Defensively Bogle needs to dramatically improve. Perfect example was the Newcastle goal with his half hearted attempt at challenging Willock. Willock wanted to win it, Bogle didn't.

More likely that Seriki will be loaned out.

Newcastle seem to have at least one exciting player

Great assist and all that, but Christ the standard in that clip is a MILE off PL or Championship level. Let’s not all get too giddy just yet.

Its not great is it? Can't see many of the Ipswich players playing above NECL based on the goals from the other day.

True against Burnley if you can protect him from McNeil they don’t really have any other great talent out wide so maybe. We’ll see but I’d expect baldock back if fit.

The same applies to every kid in our academy. It’s like getting excited about players who’ve never played above Conference South.

The raw talent is fun to watch but the leap to the first team is monumental.

I've watched him a few times this year courtesy of the U18 and U23 games that have been streamed on Youtube and he has been very good each time. His substitution was a bit late, but he became the 4th Academy product to make his Premier League debut this season.

GLTTL
Great to see the youngsters getting a taste of the big time .We have nothing to loses so why not.Makes them more hungry and bonds them closer to the club which might be good when the big guys come fishing.

I know that Yogi has seen him a few times and Seriki does need to improve defensively. I think we converted him from a winger.
I've been impressed with Bogle this season and have wondered why he has not played more, but he looked weak yesterday.

Yeah I’d be inclined to agree his weaknesses are very similar to bogle’s and they both are strongest when attacking. Bogle is naturally further along I think and benefits more from having quick feet as opposed to seriki having blistering straight line speed.

I think it depends how you define skill. It was certainly more difficult to trap, control and dribble with the heavier balls on muddy pitches, past players who were allowed to clean you out but overall I’d say the players are far more skilful than they were fifty years ago. They’ve been coached to do every trick that players in the past invented. Every player can do a Cryuff turn and all the step overs and drag backs that only the top players used to be able to do, you can watch lower league football and there are players who can take down a high “Hollywood pass” and kill it with one touch.
I think the reason we don’t talk about skill is that it’s a given these days, we know players are technically capable so you look at what sets them apart from their technically capable counterparts; their speed, of movement and of thought, their strength and stamina, their decision making and their mentality. They’re the things that make the difference. Or in simple terms, it’s the difference between Ronaldo and Ravel Morrison. Compare that with the eighties, where you had athletes like Palmer who could run up and down the pitch all day but as someone once said “he traps a ball further than I can kick it”.

It might be the last game of the season, but Burnley will be up for it, conceded 7 in the last 2 games, and what could also be a factor,,it might just be Dyche's last game in charge (Palace)?
It's a dead game for us, nothing riding on it regards £s/league position, I don't believe winning it or losing it will have any effect on next season, its not like the Wigan match and getting relegated on the last day and the 'hangover' carrying on to the next season.
Playing more of the U23s is a risk, but its always a risk, giving them more time and a start mid way through next season the pressure on them will be greater ( fingers Xs) crowds are back, and the season is live, points more important.
As for Lundstrom, no point him being on the bench or walking round the pitch after, fill tbe bench with U23s

Sorry, thought we where on a football forum. Is there a forum or a sport for Getting up and down the pitch. How refreshing last night to see a player: ball at feet putting players on their arses with skill. Surely things like that must take priority over "Ready:Set'Go. Understand you need pace but don't put that at top of a list.
We will see how your list of players perform in the up and coming Euros when hopefully they show their speed against Europe's elite players.
I played football for 34 years at all levels accept pro. Players with blistering pace you could work out a system to stop them, players with skill you just stand back and admire then shake their hands after.
Again let's hope this young lads has both in abundance and shows us his skills. And maybe he will be joining your list of wing backs.

Difficult to define what is Bogles position!
Doesn't attack the ball like a defendershould especially in the air and not an aggressive player at all without the ball. Not a natural winger either!
What is he ! that is the question.
Wilder obviously saw something which hasnt really shone through so far,he has a long way to go to become a regular starter

I'd actually be really interested in seeing him play the 10 role, he seems to naturally gravitate towards that area of the pitch anyway a lot of the time
