Do people 'hate' him?
I am disappointed with him as a player, and that is compounded with his ale-house tactics on the pitch (leaving stuff in the tackle and falling on the floor, injuring himself in the process)
The fact that away from football he has questionable virtues for a person in the public eye. On here he appears incognito and offers a surprising array of inarticulate slavver and is easily triggered by bellends with cameras. There will be several tens of thousands of bellends with cameras packed into stadiums next season. It's part of the professionalism within the game to zone that out and feed off he positives and adoration when (if, more like) he scores.
I hope he stays next season and shows his capability, but reviews his stupid actions. It's up to him to win our support with his actions as a footballer, not fo us to forgive him for being like a lot of us, which we don't want. I'd get away with knuckling a wanker on the street. He won't, and neither will the club he plays for and we support.
pommpey
I remember when he first started playing and Wilder had to continuously shout at him and reward him for closing people down. When he put a shift in he looked like there could be a good player in there but those 110% effort days have been few and far between. The fact he needed to be shouted at constantly to put a full shift in should have raised concerns
He doesn't seem to be giving it his all (he's not alone) when he's on the pitch and is ineffectual, at best. We're not a good club for strikers, but the difference in application between McGoldrick and Sharp and everyone else is remarkable.
As for his off the pitch antics, he's clearly a bit of a prat. Drink driving, reacting to nobheads with violence, general public persona he displays to the world. Guy might be a decent lad but he's clearly not committed to football or responsible enough for his own actions.
I realise this turns some people into slavering monsters, but why is one of out very highly paid athletes seemingly regularly in a pub, or at the very least drinking? If you're injured, or been training for that matter, alcohol impedes recovery. He's clearly not alone in this at the club, it seems to be a theme and must be condoned by the management staff.
If someone wants to give us our money back, or near enough, for him then I think we should take it. He doesn't fit into the system we've been playing and unless there's a major change I doubt he will. We have more strikers than we need. I'd take money for him, Burke, Mousset or Brewster. We're not shifting Didzy or Sharp in their last year at their ages.
