I don't get it, and I don't get defending him. If the video had started with McBurnie in a scrap with someone then, fair enough, more context would be needed. But the video is McBurnie walking up the street after them and almost immediately attempting to smash their phone and throwing shots. There just isn't an excuse for that. I feel like a bloody school teacher doing this, but this is adults we're talking about. If you go around smacking people for saying mean things to you then you're a criminal and a fucking idiot. Does it make you the worst person in the world? No, but you've got a lot of explaining to do. Football fans are hypocritical in huge numbers.

Over 20 years ago I had a mate who played for a team that got back to back promotions. He and the other players were idolised and swamped out on the town. Their 'culture' was loved and endeared them even more to the ordinary lad.

The year after when they got relegated the same fans were abusing them out on the town for doing the same things they had done in the years previous.

I'm sure many of us got into scrapes in days gone by, even if we weren't thugs.

I do find it a bit sad though seeing middle aged men almost glorifying a bit of aggro.

In this day and age you need to grow up quick, especially if you're in the public eye. Camera phones and social media have changed the world.

Many of our players have a notable social media presence but how many bring some shit on themselves with their posts.

24 isn't young in football terms when you've played as many games for different clubs and presumably have been made aware of your responsibilities.
