Only took us 9 mins to commit our 1st mistake. Their 1st attack conceed corner, Simmo manages to palm ball into his own goal.
Dominate rest of 1st half with 15 goal attempts, ten of which on target 20 of which we score. 1st, ball played into box Hendo and Quinn getin eachothers way they try to clear but Willo blocks and it flew into net. (we did deserve this) on 39mins. They restart ball comes to Lowton who clears and Nicky Maynard is late and gets sent off. 2nd goal on 42mins, David McAllister from outside box, great shot James gets hand to it but it is too powerful.
Hendo missed chances again,1 of which he should have definitely scored. David McAllister had another shot bound for top corner but James pulled off world class save.

2nd half.
We dominate 1st 15mins of 2nd half. seeming like only a matter of time till we score 3rd, 4th and more. Then too many passes at back, Monty plays Maguire short who plays to Simmo short Stead comes in Maguire challenge, penalty conceeded and Maguire off. They score pen, 2-2 and ten men each.
MA subs Willo to crowd amazement as willo was no doubt having his game of the season( just heard MA say that Willo would not be fit for Monday if he'd played the 90 mins). Kozzy on.
The momentum seemed to swing to Bristol and they looked more likely for a time with Stead causing problems. We did start to get a little more again but all of a sudden quality that we had disappeared. crosses banged in aimlessly and Hendo getting barracked by crowd (he was our worst player though). On 85 Hendo knocked down for Jordan Slew to strike the sweetest shot home in fornt of the Kop. Game over.

All the young guys did well today including Lowton. Quinn Mattock and Monty also did well.
Willo MOTM though. if he performes like that and we keep him Fantastic.
Funny thing is has been lots of quality in recent home games apart from Cardiff.
Just loads of defensive mistakes and attacking mistakes.

I thought one key aspect our play today that pleased me was the passing and movement we showed.

We set up well from the start, but did suffer a bit from trying to rush it forward from defence. Once we were in their half we played pretty well. That and the pressing hard in the first half weather seemed to drain us for the second half. The shape of the midfield was nice and the movement going forward was much improved. I do think that Quinn looked weaker being forced wide - where as Williamson looked like a totally different player. A working 442 unit that made me wish this was the start of the season and not nearly the end. There was more hope out on the pitch today than anything under Robbo, Blackwell and Speed. The Adams boo-boys will say different but I thought that the signs were good and it's just a shame it's come too late.

I only thought Williamson did OK. Not amazing. He had too many opportunities to get the ball into the box but didn't.

Ditto I thought Willo was ok wide without being brilliant. Do think he is wasted out wide, while he can have a much bigger say on the game when in the middle. A fully fit Willo would be a massive asset in the third division next season, but can't see him being fit for a full season or likely to be at the Lane next season.

Well it felt nice to see us win that one.

Pros

Slew - Great movement, great pace and to say he wasn't ready he has been a breath of fresh air.

McAllister - First half he showed he was cool under pressure with some very simple but effective play, looked confident on the ball and wow what a shot he has on him, second he looked tired but again showed he had great vision a couple of times and played a great through ball at one point that Hendo chased, had it been Slew chasing we may have had our third goal earlier has his pace would have been better suited to the break.

The Defense, first half mainly looked alot more composed than in recent weeks, both Mattock and Lowton get forward well and it was great to see Lowry and Magiure as a partnership, second half even after the changes forced on us, we still looked more solid than in many other games.

Adams - Despite the stick he got for taking Willo off, I thought personally he did the right thing, yes it took the sting out of us a bit but the only other real option was to take a forward off. Monty and Quinn certainly didn't have their more effective games but both put themselves about and really get stuck into the challenge, maybe Macllister would have been a better option but with a shot like his he was always going to be a threat and Bristol knew it. Plus he played some very efective simple football and seemed alot calmer than some of the others and didn't try to rush things. Lets face it he could have brought Collins on and I'm glad he didn't, Also bringing on Riise for Quinn was also a good move, Quinny was knackered and that way we kept the attackive pressure on the Brizzle defence.

Cons

Simmo - we all know why, let Askalu have a shot in net please!
Players switching off - When we need to do the very basics right against a very pacey 2nd half Bristol team we switched off too many times and made the wrong decisions.
Harry Maguire - Sadly we've lost him for three games thats a major con in my eyes, another breath of fresh air.

Pretty sure it's only 1 game as he was sent off under clause (c) below from the FA Disciplinary Procedures:

(e) PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (1), (2) AND (3)

such time as his Club’s First Team has completed its next three matches in approved
Competitions.

The most frustrating thing about today is wondering why it took so long for the likes of Slew and McAllister to get a chance.

I dare say we'll probably be thinking the same when Simonsen is finally binned.

If we'd made these changes 5 or 6 weeks earlier we would most likely have stayed up.

Cheers Wapping as I said in another thread I thought the law had extended beyond just violent conduct now. Thats more of a positive the young guns have been a very positive breath of fresh air at the club, we seem to be getting a good mix of youth and experience.

Shame about Maguire, thought he was cofident in all the game. Why oh why did we have to over pass in that situation.
So do we now have Collins in agaist Reading.

Not necessarily, though likely i'll admit

we could go

Kozzy, Lowton, Lowry , Mattock.

Maybe even Connelly could get a game at full back?
