Where is the direction, leadership coming from? Last night was so embarrassing. Its a bit of a shambles at the moment. Couple of things from last night:
Our players are so slow and not fit.
Why play players out of position?.
Brewster looks like someone how has accidentally got involved in a senior game when he is under 18 age.

Have you been worried prior to last night?!!
This season is a write off but it doesn’t mean next season will be, let’s see what the summer brings.

Last night took it to another level, but like you say let see how the club sort itself out this summer

As horrific as we are to watch at the moment, I wouldn't read too much into it. The players are just going through the motions and like us clearly want this nightmare of a season to finish.

Let's see what a new manager, some new faces and a few piss ups in the summer does for the player's confidence.

The second half was better, when Berge came on

Spurs had Deli-Alli / Kane / Winks / Bale / Lamella / Dier & an abundance of other Foreign Internationals
It wasn't like we were playing Preston North End or Swansea or Derby or Wendy etc.

Although I do agree we did look a yard slow most times

Next season will be a vastly different challenge, that we have more than enough ability to deal with, but we do ( and will ) need to strengthen
Particularly Midfield & at least one more striker.
With O'conell back & a regular back 5 we'll be solid in the Championship

Too right! Before Wilder, and a few games in to his time here, no one could predict the amazing time we'd have! What a difference a change can make....

Life's too short to worry about what's not happened.....we may do amazingly, we may sink....either way we'll be there 💪

Should be fighting for pride though not just for the club but for themselves also

The club has basically given in & already preparing for Chsmpionship, can’t blame them really playing in dead-rubbers.

Brewster and McBurnie have proven themselves at Championship level

So if they fail next season, what will the excuse be ?

I suppose it'll just be that they are crap rather than our tactics that create nothing for them

Agreed, they should be. But their confidence has been utterly destroyed and (sadly) people who lack confidence don't often fight for anything, in any walk of life.

They need a reset, with a new leader and new ideas. Then they need to hear the noise of the crowd again.

Only then will we see whether they can get back what they once had.

Berge's first 5 passes. backwards. backwards. sideways. backwards and backwards. And that header in the area say no more. Now im not saying that every pass should be threaded or put on a plate but all those who think we will get £35m for him need to knock a couple of noughts off

The major thing next season will be us being the "favourites" going into games being freshly relegated from the Premiership. We have never been good at a favourites tag and it will probably be the first time in about 10 years that we will have automatic expectations of we should be beating x or y etc. We need to cope with that pressure and usually the physical game plan that is brought to counteract that and come back stronger and 100% fitter.

Not buying that pal they are professionals anything less than 100% is unacceptable
Having said that half the team against Spurs are yesterday’s news and should not be playing in the Premiership

Think we need to learn to pass to our own players.our passing was dreadfull first half heaping to much pressure on ourselves.

Going through the motions if that's the case put them up against a wall and shot them be professional good job there not boxing they'd be knocked out in the first round if you're saying that players are going through the motions should they be paid a wage millions of people are going to work tomorrow if they go through the motions they'd be sacked

There are worrying signs but spurs have serious talent too. Bale is a 100+m player in theory. His wages are about half our entire bill.
Wolves lost 4-0 to Burnley other week. Next season with a few decent additions prob finish top 10 again. These results happen especially to a team with injuries and confidence shaken.

Big thing for the new manager is to really instill a fresh slate and get them fit and energised. Do that and this squad is defo got potential to be up there in champ.

Bale, Son, Kane. Quality like that most teams struggle against. We weren’t a shambles.

I get worried when there’s on my 2 custard creams left in house. When I watch us I get depressive, emotionally numb then shit faced. Roll on next weekend

Mate don't get me wrong, I am not in any way saying that it is fine, or that I am happy about it. But sadly, I have reached levels of apathy about this team that I genuinely never thought would, or even could happen.

I don't blame them and have some sympathy, for some of them at least. But let's be honest, it isn't all down to them. Their leader and motivator lost his way, and then walked away, whilst the owners gave up on them in January, when they refused to bring in help. It's now a rudderless ship, with a caretaker manager who doesn't want to rock a sinking boat even further.

It's just a shit state of affairs all round, and it needs a strong character to come in, drive a stake through this current malaise and light a fire under them all again, with a new approach.

No doubt we'll end up with Hecky getting it permanently.

If Heckingbottom does get the job,how do you think the season ticket sales will go?. That is something that needs to be thought about as I for one would seriously think about not renewing. Only 50/50 at the moment.

I think the prince will have taken onboard all these negatives..to get lost in the championship is the last thing he will want .
Its important we get up while we have the prop of parachute payments.

Hopefully that showed that Heckingbottom should not get the job.
Having watched quite a bit of Championship football I am confident even that side would more than hold its own with a little confidence.

Said all along berge has done nothing exceptional while he's been here so I can't understand why his value will gave risen .I got laughed at before ,however I stick to what I said 12-16 million .....maynmbe a little more if we have someone's pants down

Being 'not a shambles' is losing 1-0 and matching Spurs all over the park. If they have those players, why don't we? Spurs have been beaten this season and have played poorly, even at home.

As the OP says, there is little left to salvage from this season save for trying not to get beaten more. We won't do that being outgunned in midfield, we won't do it playing five at the back and we won't do it with the mistakes of Wilder still in the side, either systemically or in the capability stakes. It has been evident sine the restart last season we had run out of ideas and tactical flexibility and that sits at Wilder and Knill's feet. To be comprehensively beaten week on week - and it is now starting to be more than 'fine margins' tells anyone watching what they should know that our balloon is now flat and where Norwich is the exception in keeping the team and coming back, we need to be brutal and focused and ship out the incapables before we end up in the lower reaches of the Championship by Christmas ... this year. Many expensive signings look like they have no indication of being better when the season restarts. We can't simply assume that teams below us are easy meat for our former Premier League superstars. Looking at their output this season makes anyone who even has a passing interest in football come to the conclusion that they are currently playing way above their capability, possibly even the division below. Keeping them, and the system we play is tantamount to suicide and if these players have been so comprehensively brainwashed into playing in such a system and manner, and it ends up in a 4-0 capitulation to Spurs, then it is clear they either adapt, or leave. Looking at them also, it's clear some want out and are already burning their bridges. How fucking nice, given two years ago they were flying high on our breaking wave of adoration.

So, yeah. We are a shambles. We have been since Villa away last season and save for a few glimmers where I feel we played teams not really at the game, we will continue to be because nothing has changed much, even with the stand out evidence of 34 5 2 27 18 60 -42 17. THAT is shambolic.

We are a yard or two slow not because of a lack of fitness, but because the players either take an extra touch and get closed down or are not quick enough in thinking at this level or both !
