flecks boot on le celsos face was deliberate and should have been a red card but le celsos reaction just about sums the modern footballer up banging his feet and hands on the turf liked a fixed wrestler would do in the 60s pathetic and embarassing

Since January I 've been saying I 'll not watch again this season but I always have done. Last night I switched off at half time and watched Call the Midwife.

I 've done now.
There's only so much suffering you can take. Respect to all of you who continue to watch this hopeless shower.

Most depressing is the thought that Heckingbottom will be our next manager. And I truly believe he will be. We always go for the cheap option. God help us.

if we think this is bad now, wait till this time next season.

And for all those who will tell me I'm a doom monger, please tell me with this shower we now have how things can possibly improve?

I didn't watch it, and so pleased I didn't. I'll watch the extended highlights later when it's raining outside. Last match I saw us play was v Leicester away and that was only because I already have Amazon Prime. I know like everyone else the shortcomings of the team and it's not going to get better until we can improve the squad and bring in a permanent manager, or dare I say it, Hecky is appointed permanantly so at least he has the authority that he doesn't have now as a temporary appointment.

But I did fear the worst when I saw Bash at LCB and Baldock again at RCB. I can only asume that we have to play a loan fee for Ampadu each time he plays, and/or that the board have aked Hecky not to play him over players that are here next season, because Ampadu is the only player who's looked ok at LCB.

But it's still the same team that was struggling all season and it rarely works out with a caretaker guy in these circumstances; we're crying out for new leadership. Just hope that we're not waiting till the end of the season before appointing Hecky or someone like Scott Parker. Here's hoping that yesterday's result will prompt a quicker appointment, but it probably won't make any difference as it appears the board are waiting till the end of the season for who they want, which tells me the guy/s we want are likely to be in another job as opposed to someone already available.

Interesting that all the Pundits concur, with a 1 for Brewster and 0 for Mousset. It is quite funny, but actually true.
How come Heckingbottom can't see this? Are our U'23's even worse?

It does seem like the 23s are deliberately being kept away from the first team.

Probably more a case of 'don't let the kids be dragged down by those fucking losers' rather than not being good enough.

My take...

The worst 1st half I have EVER seen by a United side, including the worst individual performance by Brewster.

2nd half looked better until the 2nd goal went in. At which point most of them gave up.

Utter, utter shite.

Another depressing performance to watch, men against boys, they have a world class forward line, that’s what your up against in the PL
Roll on next season, just hope this season hasn’t totally destroyed us and we can go again

i would like to know how chris wilder couldnt see that lundstram hasnt put 1% of effort in from day one and yet played him game after game 🤔🤔🤔

All good and no complaints about that very concise summing up. We got bummed by Spurs which raised not even an eyebrow from me, and shows just how worn out I am by it all.
I couldn't drum up the enthusiasm to watch it,so we watched 'Fargo' instead.
Gleefully imaging that it was Lundstram being fed into that wood chipper rather than Steve Buscimi.
The best Fargo ,
Not like the follow up shite

Words from a true literary artisan, vivid and eloquent. Well put Pomps.

"It's smeary, greasy shit, flecked with peanuts and sweetcorn kernels, carefully caught in bog roll and smeared round the place in a dirty protest. Brown crayon, stuff."

Sums up tonight, and pretty much the last year, the football, our sorry decline, not to mention not being able to go to the pub for six months to drown sorrows and lick wounds.

HH
Bit disappointing, to be honest. I was expecting more from tonight. Big chance to wrap up a few loose ends and for some sort of outcome given the chance it gave. It was pretty obvious Hastings was never gonna be the fourth man. Carmichael is defintaly involved in some way but the low target of Buckells eventually simply being the 'useful idiot' showed that the story has reached a predictable conclusion and the next instalment might be even worse than this one ended up as. There were moments, few and far between to actually rescue it.

But anyway, Sheff United took on the mighty Spurs tonight, didn't they? Plucky, battling but two-divisions-below United tried at times but the gulf in class was evident. In fact, I'd say even with Jay McEveley handballing it in characteristic Charlie fucking Caroli manner a few seasons ago at White Hart Lane #1, we were actually better then than we were tonight. Given who we have playing (only Basham the common element between that clash six years ago) it's not surprising. We were fucking shit. And that's not 'bobbar' shit. It's smeary, greasy shit, flecked with peanuts and sweetcorn kernels, carefully caught in bog roll and smeared round the place in a dirty protest. Brown crayon, stuff.

Spurs fielded an almost apologetic side. Kane looked like he was having a kick about in the park and wherever the fuck we went on the pitch, we just didn't have enough options to pass, if anyone tried to go through they were mopped up, dispossessed or left on their arse watching the Spurs players run away back up the pitch toward our goal, laughing their arses off as they did. Again, it wasn't as much 'if' Spurs scored, so much as 'when' and it was surprising they took so fucking long to execute the ball over the top they'd threatened us with. Bale simply ghosted through our back eight (count em) with everyone looking at him and simultaneous thought bubbles pronging out of the players in greens heads with 'Where's he going, eh?' in them. I mean, it's only fucking Gareth Bale, isn't it? What more can the once-most-expensive-player-in-the-world actually do, running, untraccked through our two lines of defence to latch onto a chip from Aereloae, or whatever his fucking name is? Well, he scored. Everyone looking at each other in that 'who had him' manner. We've see that before.

The rest of the first half was played in that time honoured 'mule-opposition' fashion with us repeatedly giving the ball away (almost everyone), sitting stupidly too deep or playing in a regressive, defeatist and frankly pathetic 5-3-2. We did, you know. Go watch it again. That gave Spurs two options:

1. Exploit the wide midfield areas in front of the forced back wingbacks
2. Ball over the top

We showed fucking nothing going forward, Didsy's weak shots and Brewster with his head firmly up his arse gave Spurs no problems at the back and Ramsdale thumping it long was fruitless possession wasting horseshit. Second half we had five minutes of moderate promise with Billy Swizz on the pitch and Berge but Norwood's shit strike just showed how crap we are. We were just sliced open by a team who is in the Premier League, playing Premier League football. Passing, moving, creating, shooting and scoring. Five minutes before the final whistle, I'd seen enough and Line of Duty beckoned. Spurs could have had a fucking hatful by the time I turned over. I feel they were being charitable to us to keep the score below five.

Heckingbottom has just said we 'improved in the second half'. Fuck's sake, feller. We conceded three goals in the second half, you fucking trumpet. We looked like a fucking Sunday League side. If he is in charge next season and we keep this shower of schmucks we are down again, regardless of what I have said on Sheff Utd Way last month. Things need to change, starting with him and then moving outwards until about three players are left, some of them in their thirties. In the words of Gunnery Sargeant Hartmann of Kubrick's 'Full Metal Jacket' fame, the rest are simply 'nothing but unorganized grab-asstic pieces of amphibian shit!' It sums the fuckers up. They eat the fucking doughnut and do the pressups because they fucking earned this.

Ramsdale 6/10: For his saves, although in truth, he is simply doing his job. He did show too much of the goal to Son for his disallowed goal and one of Bale's. but had no chance with the rest. His distribution, as ever, is piss-wank.
Bogle 4/10: Pretty much outclassed and bypassed at times.
Baldock 4/10: A worrying concept at stand-in RCB. Clumsy and wasteful with the ball but better when we went 4-4-2 as he could get up the wing a bit. He is not a centre back for fuck's sake. We have two of them on the fucking bench
Egan 5/10: Slow and ponderous at times although in his defence gave us some crucial headers, but was out of position and run a bit ragged by their strikers
Basham 5/10: Obviously carrying an injury and vulnerable. But - when he's on the ball he shows thought and ability. It's still difficult to criticise Bash and not to like him
Stevens 3/10: Still getting skinned and bypassed every week now. Both him and Bogle were pinned right back in a line today, exposing a vast area in front of them which Spurs just exploited
Norwood 2/10: One good cross. The rest of the time he was simply a straphanger - a bollard in the road. His free kicks and corners were characteristically shitwipe.
Osborn 5/10: Yeah, he runs, he chases, he tries. But he's also outfought, outskilled and outmuscled. And he's five foot and a fagpaper, so lamping the ball his way when he's up against Dier or Hojburg is only gonna end up with one result. You listening, Ramsdale? Wasn't really sure where the fuck he was meant to be playing in the first half to be honest and ended up in Lundstram's old spot, number three traffic cone.
McGoldrick 4/10: Loads of effort but judging by his end product, he either knackered, or he's just given up. His burst forward down the left wing in the fist half was so fucking poorly supported, we deserved him passing it into Lloris's hands.
Brewster 1/10: I've lost patience now. He is the biggest waste of transfer money ever, in English football. There. I said it. Tonight he looked so fucking clueless and lost. I fear for him, next season, because we are fucking stuck with him now. We can't take the massive cut (no one will fucking buy him, for a start) and Liverpool can simply enjoy the twenty odd million we wastefully spunked on this frankly useless nipper. It's not all his fault, but he is absolutely, totally out of his depth in the Premier League. We can only hope that he flourishes next season, because so far, I have seen nothing at all which tells me he is anywhere near his fee.

Burke 2/10: The usual 'runs about, achieves fuck all' outing from him. Again, what the fuck Wilder was thinking is still a baffling mystery
Berge 4/10: First 45 back since Christmas so can't be too critical, but he's still got nowt in the bag really, has he? He still looks a bit aimless in a shockingly crap midfield and still seems dreadful at imposing with his height and heading the fucking thing. Compare him with say - Hojburg.
Mousset 0/10: Actually thought Heckingbottom was taking the piss out of us sticking him on at the end.

Anyway, Line of Duty 4/10 also for a bt of a pissy ending, also.

In depth analysis as always right down to the poo though it sounded better in my head when I imagined Nigella saying it. I hate those sweetcorn kernels too!

Strangely pleased about the result...

Bear with me

CW has somehow managed to spend over £100m and actually make the side look weaker, that can’t be easy - he then get mardys on when PA tells him no more

Hecky steps in, nice bloke but track record of mediocrity, including been sacked by Hibernian

The players who finished 9th last season, and threatened Europe for a few months have new either ran out of steam, of effort, or both

So back to my satisfaction at the result

Had we scraped the odd win, narrow defeat with some real gutsy performances, PA may have believed we were a tweak away from challenging next season

Last night we had clarity

CW has fucked us over, a true ‘one of us’ would have stayed and mopped up the shitshow we created, not got lip on and bailed

Hecky is as out of his depth as a manager as Brewster is as a striker, no where near strong enough. We need a Sargent major and he’s a scout leader

The players have given up, some are good enough and with a strong manager may go again, but 3 maybe 4 tops

Yesterday brought total clarity - this needs major surgery

Clear out all back room staff connected to CW, AK included

Move Hecky back to u23, maybe give him Brewster for 6 months to get some confidence

Bring in a MANager, not just in title, but someone who can be a ruthless cunt

Move out the deadwood and dead heads

Bust summer ahead for PA
Broadly agree. Seen nothing in Hecky to suggest he is the right way forward - we need a complete outsider with no Blades baggage. Lost faith & patience with Brewster and the team needs replacement surgery not cosmetic.

It does seem like the 23s are deliberately being kept away from the first team.

Probably more a case of 'don't let the kids be dragged down by those fucking losers' rather than not being good enough.

I think its more likely they are being protected for the fire sale at the end of the season. Its obvious in value terms they are worth more than the First team. Goodness knows why he isnt trying a few of them for 10-15 minutes other than dont put them in the shop window too soon as they might get injured or they might get First Team-shititis.

Its okay saying we need a clear out but no one above League 1 is going to want this shower. Rammers will be off to Burnley, Berge off to Liverpool for £10 million (probably an injury clause in that contract too for a cheap sell on clause price) everyone else will be sold off for 5p they found down the back of the sofa and 2 fruit salads.

The side that Hecky picked wasn't good.

We only have to look at the defence - Baldock and Bash - 2 players out of position. With Bash on the right we would only have had one out of position. Now it still wouldn't have been good whoever went to LCB, but at least there would only have been one playing in a rogue position. This type of thing is just basics.

There is absolutely nothing in Heckys favour to becoming manager EXCEPT being cheap - and that is the worst thing we could do.

Let him go back to the academy where is the club is showing promising signs.

UTB

Thanks Pommpey. I didn't watch it as I'd have had to drive to Esteemed Forgeblade's house (I don't have Sky sports or whatever), couldn't be arsed, and watched the snooker instead (which he also did). I genuinely fear for next season.

Agree about what has been said about Brewster but he didn't force the prince and Wilder to sign him for £23,000,000 .
I have always had my doubts about Wilder since the first season in the Championship. However I am shifting some of my doubts onto PA.
When he first came on the the scene I thought he was super rich and would bring eye watering amounts of money. When it was clear he wasn't that rich I was rooting for McCabe in the court case as at least he knew something about football and was a fan.
PA has had his leg lifted by Wilder and Liverpool which is worrying ( can't believe McCabe would have fallen for this , would have at least taken Liverpool to court for misrepresentation!)
PA needs to buck his ideas up ,manage the club better including finding the right manager otherwise what money he has will end up in the bottomless money pit called The Championship

It's really grim watching us attempting any aspect of the game. We are a slow, poor outfit massively out of our depth in the PL. I dread to think where we will finish up. Equally grim is watching our "care-taker" on the touchline. Not an ounce of reaction or attempt at motivation. Hecky seems just to soak up the shit his players are serving up. Hopefully for not much longer. Reminds me of negative Nige in denial at the playoffs at Swindon.

Give PH time. He'll come good. Bring a few kids through into the first team. Can't keep changing the manager

What. Keep playing '3-5-2' (actually 5-3-2) and get browndicked every fucking week by teams who find it dead easy to outclass our midfield and defences who have the cards out playing with our forwards?

Nein Danke.

Get a fucking manager hired Prince.

Anyway, Line of Duty 4/10 also for a bt of a pissy ending, also.

pommpey
The shower of shite wearing the shirt were all signed by the bottleless twat Wilder, credit for the previous promotions but like most of the players he brought in he and them are a million miles away from Premiership standard. Brewster and McBurnie were both scoring goals at Swansea and Brewster did the business at international level. Then Wilder got his hands on them. Never used Brewster from day one and had no idea how to manage or coach him THATS WHAT WILDER WAS PAID FOR then he uses McBurnie in a totally different role than he was playing and scoring goals for Swansea THAT WAS WILDERS FAULT basically his standard of coaching and management of players is crap just like once again the way the club is being run is even worse than crap.

What’s worrying is that Baldock and Egan are going the same way as Fleck,Norwood , Stevens and Lundstram deteriorating out of site
I dont really rate Baldock tbh. Going forward hes absymal and defending one on one and defensive positioning he's poor. Hes always looking to blame someone else for his errors

Interesting that all the Pundits concur, with a 1 for Brewster and 0 for Mousset. It is quite funny, but actually true.
How come Heckingbottom can't see this? Are our U'23's even worse?
I really don't understand why none of the youngsters are even getting 30 minutes at present. As you say, they really can't be any worse than the current first team.

We never seem to try or trust our young players, not since Harry Maguire and he only got a chance because we had injuries at centre back, it could be argued that our academy actually benefits other clubs other than our own. Hull, Bournemouth, Everton and Spurs have all done very nicely out of our Academy by taking punts on promising players, as have lower league teams who sign players for cheap or free.

In the past recent seasons it has always been, we can't play them because we need to get out of the 1st division, we want to get 100 points, we need to stay in the Championship, we want promotion from the Championship, we want to finish in the top 6 of the Premiership and now we can't because we don't want to scar them by playing in the current situation.

This last one I really don't get. They can't be any worse than some of the first team and nobody expects them all to play 90 minutes, but giving a few the opportunity must be a good thing. The same old players doing the same thing is just dreadful at present and they are not even concerned about being challenged for their place from younger players because they are either considered not good enough by the under 23 manager, or he is just unwilling to play them, at all, in any circumstance,

I'm really questioning why we have a youth team and all the expense because I really can't see how it is benefitting Sheffield United,

I can see that, but I suspect most other teams scouts are fully aware of our young players and how good they are, and I would argue that by playing them now we will discover if they are a viable option for next year or at least increase their value.

not too sure this time round dont forget due to Covid only staff from both teams are allowed in the grounds along with support staff. Dont think scouts from other teams are allowed.
