Lampard will be sat on a nice compensation package that probably stops if he takes another job so he’s likely to wait for a well paid one.

I’m just glad I’m not picking because I’ve no idea what direction the club wants to move in.

None of the options are ideal......I choose Jokanovic but Bilic’s personality is more of a fit to our fans.

I don't think he's over rated, I think he went into a huge job way too soon. Can't blame him for taking the opportunity and I think he has the hallmarks to be a very good manager.

He took Derby to a play off final, seemed to have the players on side, the fans loved him and he came across well in the media. Not bad for a first year.

They both won 20 out of 46, how did Lampard have a lower win percentage?

FL did better than Robert in play offs and did better in the cup competitions. Also look what happended to Derby since he left.

Wouldn't be worse case scenario if he was appointed tbh.

He was on that in the PL, I’d imagine he had a 50% clause like the players. We won’t pay anywhere near £2m again though.

I’d guess that Wilder came in league 1 on around £250k then that probably doubled in the Championship. If he’s got to £4m he’s negotiated very well.

I’d imagine we’ll be shopping in the £500k market again now. That might get us the bloke at Swansea if they don’t go up.

I might be wrong though and we might go for it and pay a lot more.

I still think you could drive a bus through the holes in what Abdullah told us in the interview though so I’m not convinced £4m a year is correct. That’s Chelsea/Leicester/Spurs money for a manager.

I voted Jokanovic but I wonder whether the likes of Slaven Bilic get too easily dismissed.

He did excellently with Croatia.

He finished 7th, taking West Ham to Europe and then a respectable 11th. He was then sacked in November when, you could argue there was still time to turn things around.

Got West Brom promoted at first time of asking. Had a scandalously low amount of spend and unsurprisingly found himself in the bottom 2 and was sacked.

He got appointed to a job in China at Beijing Guoan but you'd think he'd rather have a job in England.

I also read that he has a law degree so he's an intelligent fellow to boot as well as speaking a number of languages fluently. He's also part of a rock band, which may or may not be relevant!

I think that’s been proved by someone to be bollocks before though.

Not at all. I just don’t think we paid Wilder £4m a year when in reality he was probably on £250k when he first came.

We had the lowest wage bill in the PL last season so it makes no sense to have a well paid manager and bargain basement players.

So important, this. That passion was everything with those 3 managers (whatever you think of Warnock), the 3 significant managers we've had since I started supporting the Blades in 1987. Of course, you can't recruit a manager with that kind of passion whenever you feel like it. And looking at the candidate list it feels like whoever comes along next will just be filling a void, as will the next, and the next, and the next, until a manager like DB/NW/CW stumbles along and is one of Those who we know we'll be talking about 40 years from now... just it doesn't feel like Lampard or Jokanovic is One of Those.

I love football but this just sort of sums up what's wrong with it, and society generally. My daughter and son-in-law are both NHS doctors. Can anyone realistically justify why David Moyes and Scott Parker (and possibly Steve Bruce) are paid more in a week than they are in a year?
Apparently the average UK annual salary is about £29,000. Even if the "poverty wages" above are accurate (doubt it!), it would have taken the hard up Mr Wilder just over 2 weeks to be paid the annual average.
Just a bit of food for thought.
