Apart from keeping Leeds in the game for long periods, he also showed a real gesture of honesty/ sportsmanship.

In the second half, ched was late into him for a 50/50 ball, Ched clattered him, but no harm was done. The ref obviously couldn't get his card out quick enough to book Ched for presumably over exuberance, but credit has to go to Schmeichel for pleading with the ref to prevent Ched being booked. Of course it didn't help, but nice to see as he could've easily played on the knock.

I thought ref was going to send him off so good stuff to see Schmeichel get up and help matters. It was a yellow card though Swiss wasn't it? There has to be some sanction againts challenges like that where a player is probably second favourite to a ball, still obvioulsy entitled to challenge but gets beaten to it and clatters the opponent.

Yes according to the rules it was a Yellow card offence.

But its the common sense approach that needs to be looked at, for me it was a stern talking to that was necessary. Sure it was late but it didn't do any harm. you can probably argue consistency but for me the refs need to use common sense and look at the context of the foul. I think it was around the time we scored so everyone was chasing down the ball, adrenalin fuelled tackles often come at this time. Doesn't mean that they are inexcusable, but just consider the context.

I get the impression from young Schmeichel that he'd stand up for fairness at home and away.

Schmeichel was impressive on both counts - good lad.

But if Ched was any later it would have been dark when he arrived. Silly...

Yeah agree i also thought he was there only performer on the day.
