Really interesting watch that. And such a brutally frank assessment of how it all unravelled allegedly. If true, that should and could've been avoided.
I understand both points of view, but for me, if you're the board, don't go back on promises if:
a. The resources of the club simply are not up to scratch.
b. You intend to imply that we were not good enough full stop. We have been poor with a very depleted squad, missed transfer targets, SIGNIFICANT lack of squad depth, an emptyish bench and trying to compete in the best league in the world with Kean Bryan, 38 year old Jags and a midfielder who doesn't want to be here. It's shambolic.
Watching that reinforces my view that the board, the pay conditions, the wage structure, being outbid by rival clubs and refraining from spending based on previous hit and miss targets, leaves a great deal of culpability at the board's door. What's more - the board 1) didn't fund first choice targets in the summer, and when 2nd/3rd choice targets underperformed from August to January, tried to use that as a justification for not offering further spending or suggesting that Wilder needs help with recruitment. That is so incredibly uncalled for it's ridiculous!! He tried to find players within your budget, those players were of a lesser standard, that's not rocket science.
The more I reflect, the more I am becoming steadfast that this the fault of the board, or the failings of the board twisted to read like the failings of the manager.
