You to have to ask, if Wilder doesn't feel the club are willing to provide the tools to challenge next season, then what other decent manager will?

And if they're not decent, then they will likely bomb anyway without financial backing.

He opened his mouth and his brains fell out, I don't remember exact words but when we lost 3-0 at Chelsea his retort was do you mind I'm going to/or been to the theatre with my family to see a wonderful show. He also gave us the debacle that occurred at Villa Park when a point would have gone a long way to keeping us up, before we played Wigan.

In an alternate timeline where Covid didn't happen and all our players didn't get fused with a shortcake biscuit in a lab, we'd have finished the 19/20 season in 5th, be sat 9th this, got to the Europa League quarter finals and this press conference would be to announce Wilder is leaving to go to Man United or summat.

A sad ending, but nevertheless we should all be grateful for what Wilder achieved for us. For me he joins Dave Bassett and Neil Warnock as one of the three great managers in my 30 years as a Blade.

There were some rubbish in between those three. Some were just average, some weak, some outdated, some not very loyal, some completely incompetent. As we were just sliding further and further Chris Wilder arrived, finally the right man at the right time. He lifted us up from the mud. He knew what we were about and knew what we needed - he got it.

Coincidentally , at the time of Wilder's arrival Norwegian band Highasakite had a domestic hit song that to me seemed to describe Chris Wilders' arrival at Sheffield United, at a time when we needed it the most.

Good luck to him. In the end, he lived & died by his mistakes. I think he over-trusted the players we had, over-estimated their ability to go again and it was his belief in the squad that informed his decision to invest in players for the future in the transfer market.

As it transpires, a lot of those players had reached their ceilings (Stevens, Norwood, Fleck, Lundstram). A few injuries to our best players later (O'Connell, Berge) and we were swimming against a strong current with inexperienced and out of form players. We just didn't have the time he thought we did for developing players, our foundations were too weak.

Ultimately, he didn't course correct anywhere near quick enough. He didn't show any ability (or even willingness) to adapt. 2 points at Christmas would have cost any other man his job.

I'm pretty sure he will come back strongly and learn the necessary lessons and I'm glad he's coming around to the notion he may not have behaved properly with the board. They backed him.

I can only think of two at the moment; the one who took good people's money under false pretenses and later threatened other members (clipgate). Then there was the other one who attempted to take good people's money under false pretenses but wasn't clever enough to pull it off.

I'm flattered that you pay me so much attention but we can't really go much further with this until you get your moral compass calibrated.
