Isn't Taylor's contract up in the summer?

Was a 3 year contract he signed last year wasn't it? Afterall he is "one of the best left backs outside the Premiership" so we would have been foolish not to.

Surely you dreamt that quote - it can't be real?!!! Presumably after a night heavy on the wine and stilton? :)

Holy cow! Even in the era of spin, that's pretty special.

Isn't it just brilliant though?

Replace Andy Taylor with Ashley Cole and you would still think some of those comments were a little OTT.

Interestingly enough this for me emphasis Kevin Blackwells downfall. Those comments were the offical released comments and his general public opinion on this new "excellent signing" meanwhile baiting the likes of Seth Bennet and co off the record. How much did RS know about what really was going on? Don't get me wrong I have no problems with it coming it but as a manager he played both ends and eventually got caught out especially with the Ched Evans fee.

Here's a thought.....sell Ched and Hendo (partly out of necessity) and use the funds to sign Glenn Murray (Brighton) and Craig Davies (Chesterfield). Quite confident they could score enough goals between them to make us a force in the third division.

Squad of:

Simmo, Long

Parrino, Maguire, Roe, Brown, Morgan, Collins, Lowton, Calve, A CB, A LB.

McAllistair, Coneelly, Doyle, Yeates, Chappell, Wilkinson, Gregory, James, Harriett

Martin, Slew, Cresswell, C. Davies, Bogdanovic

Good cheap squad full of Experience and plenty of promising YOUTH.

Good post. The kind of realistic assessment the thread calls for.

I think we could be even more realistic and add Montgomery and Quinn to the retained column, seeing as they are on long contracts and no-one is going to pay money for them.

The rumours are that we turned down £650,000 for Monty from Leeds during the January window.

Aye strong rumours about Monty and Leeds.
Tayls is out of contract and I thought Hendo's contract was also up?

If we go down Monty will not be with us next season... I strongly believe QPR will be his destination however the likes of Leeds and Middlesborough will also be sniffing AGAIN!

Sorry Leno but Taylor and Henderson are here for another year both contracted up until 2012.

Almost certain Tayls is not here next year if we don't re-sign him, not sure about Hendo.

Well if we bring in some decent permanent players and some exciting youngsters then I think we might have a chance of winning a game for once!

Proper Keeper who can catch a cross
Lowton Morgan New CB New LB
New RW Williamson Doyle New LW
Ched Henderson

IF we keep Ched & Hendo and we get 2 competent wingers then they will finish top scorers in the div.

HOWEVER, reallistically going on past performance of out Brilliant leaders at the club, the first offer of
2 bags of crisps, a shiny button and a promise of a friendly match and they will be sold. (along with
anyone else who doesnt hide under a chair)
UTB

Out of contract: Jordan, France, Kozluk, Wright (is he still here?)

1 year left: Simonsen, Ertl, Henderson, Evans, Bogdanovic, Yeates, Aksalu, Williamson, Taylor

1+1 years option: Lowton

2 years left: Montgomery, Morgan, Doyle, Cresswell, Collins, Quinn

In case it helps. (Based on Wiki, sufc.co.uk, Google searches)

It'll sound stupid, but Football Manager has all the correct contract lengths etc.

The two years left section is by far the most disturbing thing ( inc anything from Keens in the p and t) I've ever seen on the internet.

And there'll be no transfer fees for them either, best we'll do is get them loaned out and have half their wages paid.

We have the 2 young Norwegian lads, one is a left winger and the other a central midfielder, we have the Irish player, plus a coupld of other young kids which should be good enough. Mixed in with 4 or 5 experienced players, we could have a promising team in the 1st division. I think Quinn will be the only big name to stay along with Cressy. Monty, Evans, Hendo will go Willo is 50/50 depending on we could find a club willing to take a chance on his fitness.

We have seen from Brighton, Saints, Huddersfield etc that the 1st division is not a hoof division anymore. Get some young technically good players who are quick, alongside the 4 or 5 seasoned pros and we could do well. We will be seen as a big club, whatever we think ourselves so clubs will fear us but also they will raise their game against us.

should circumstances remain the same and by that I mean no investment (Rumours are circulating again) then one thing is absolutely certain, the high earners, by hook or by crook are out the door.

Monty
Hendo
Ched
Simmo

All loans and up to end of season contracts, should also be out the door. There's only one loan that made any sort of decent contribution and I don't need to mention his name

We are then left with a handful of maybe's and wannabees

The job of rebuilding a side to get us out of that division in the first season, on a shoestring budget will be too great for any manager, let alone MA

We'll probably need a small miracle imo

This isn't a side i want but i can it being something like this, not much different to now i guess. Monty (500k), hendo (250k), evans (1m), ward (i expect to sign perm at derby) will leave. The current loans won't join as we all know and will be mostly happy with. Juniors will pack the bench.

Simmo
Kozluk
collins
Morgan
Lowton
yeates
doyle
williamson
quinn
boggy
slew

Monty was one of our best players and usually is when given a strict marking role as he was on Lampard, Gerrard and co who all commmented on his abilities.

Quinn could possibly head in the same direction with him, despite our thoughts Quinn is a decent player for a decent side. Back end of 2007-2008, 2008-2009 10 plus goals pring to mind.

The players you name made no such comments. Not one. None at all. This is an old myth perpetuated by The Maestro's legions of admirers. No doubt the vast media
archives available to us all these days will allow you to prove me wrong?

Let's be perfectly clear: The Maestro and Elpiton have been right at the heart of our decline. They have contributed more than their fair share to our abject failure. A misplaced pass here, comical ball control there, aimless ludicrous flicks here, penalties and free-kicks conceded there.

Some of us have been exposing this uncomfortable truth for a long, long time yet the Ploddyphiles remain deluded and in denial all the way to oblivion.

League One is now dominated by proper footballing teams that would have Ploddy and Elpiton chasing shadows as a matter of routine, just as Championship clubs have before them.

Micky the Hoof, Dinosaur Dave and Korky the Clown have been ruthlessly exposed. They are purveyors of Neanderthal football: League One will be just as unforgiving and twice as embarrassing.

Well, the 'We  Hoofing' Brigade have got exactly what they asked for and exactly what they deserve. Quickfix Micky and his DinoMentor.

Upanatem Boys! It's the future.
