Fuck me another poll by one of the founder members of the Wilder out brigade. Will these polls keep coming until you get one that goes the way you want it too.
the usual suspects then jump all over it with the same old shite but not one of them come up with a viable option to replace the best manager this club has ever seen. It’s one yes one bad season out of 5 4 of which have been phenomenal. I tend to go with the idea that the season is the one off rather than the norm and his stats back this up. I hope some of you don’t get what you want because if you do we are royally fucked.

wilder deserves the championship, but then the pressure is on & would have to have us in top 4 by christmas

im clueless at how have we gone from attacking team of last many season to this nothingness. i knew we've struggled with low/no crowds ie barnet & any early round of a cup competition pre pandemic under wilder reminded me of Burton Albion at lane under adkins. where it was just nothing, i didnt realise how much the team needs the fans to bring the intensity of their play. as souness says where the team that outplayed man utd at bramall lane but now nevermind man utd at november 2019. where fight gone from WBA & Newcastle last month. but whole game was baffling.

i have no idea what wilder was doing, where was bogle, mcgoldrick & why are we subbing the jags for bogle

I wouldn’t appoint Howe.

Im not sure I’d appoint a British manager at all actually.

Again, though, how long has he got in your eyes if we continue to play this poorly?

Next Christmas. If we aren't in the play off shake up playing an attacking style of football.... That's presuming the board don't do a Sheff United.

He has earned the right to have a go at getting us back up.

My worry is that he is not prepared to change. Whether that's shape, tactics or recruitment. It is unsustainable to only buy/loan British or British-based players

Top managers are prepared to listen and take advice. I think his intransigence will put the Prince in a position where he has no choice.

There’a literally no point bringing in a new manager right now. The only time we can consider would either be prior to pre season or after first 10 games of champ if it’s still going like this

He has shown enough, until the start of 2020 at any rate, to get a shot at getting us back up next season... but if we get to November next season, stuck in mid table Championship or lower, with negative performances, deluded post match interviews and the sort of rambling pre match press conferences that would make Adkins or Calos blush.. well then his time is up... Huge six months for him in my opinion.

The problem is the talent pool of managers in this country you would be confident could do a better job on our resources is minuscule.

If CW goes I'd bet my mortgage on that being the catalyst for PA to implement his vision of how he wants to run HIS club by installing JVW as DOF and bringing in a foreign coach to work under him.

I would keep him but there's nagging doubts. His persistence with something that isn't working, week in, week out. Strange recruitment. Unfathomable team choice at times. Awful playing style that's embarrassing to watch.
It's like there's something underlying that's driving him, which only he knows. Perhaps he's been hypnotised by undercover pigs?

I would keep Wilder as there are very few replacements in my view and he deserves a crack at getting us back up. Yes it’s been a disaster of a season but if we are honest, it was coming. Lack of proper investment was always going to hamper us and before anyone says he has had well over £100m to spend, that buys you nothing in the premier league, clubs spend that on one player. Complaining about the players we have as not good enough and then expecting results is just contradictory and senseless, much like this poll to be honest.

If you were the chairman/owner of the club, you would sack Wilder but wouldnt have a clue who to appoint?

It is my assumption that the owner of the club and those advising him have considered who they will want to appoint.

If I were in charge, I would have also done that.

I would have fired him after the WBA away game, actually.

I cannot help but look at Norwich.

They spent very little last season, played the same passing game all season, everyone thought they were going down by January, which they did with 21 points. The manager gave very similar after match media interviews, no histrionics! They had injuries to centre halves all season also.

At the seasons end they sold 2 of their young good player for about £50 million & pocketed about £60 million in parachute money. They spent a small amount [Jordan Hugill + 2/3 others] on new players, & have walked the Championship so far, & good luck to them.

They have done nothing extravagant, kept the same squad, took the money & I guess their fans have accepted that this is within their budget/outlook.

Whereas we have spent millions, ascended like a rocket & burnt out big time, & I cannot see anyone is going to offer us £25 million for any of our players. Our manager is giving very poor interviews & the blame game has started [injuries, manager. recruitment, wages, luck, VAR, PA etc]

Maybe just maybe we had visions of grandeur, thought we could live the PL Champagne lifestyle when in reality we still had a Beer income? Maybe we need to change not necessarily the manager but the plan for the club going forward, a bit more long term than crash & burn. Recruitment has to be part of this, a major part. Brentford's recruitment is fabulous, they pay £5 million for Toney, who has scored 24 goals this season & now Leicester are looking at him, probably for £20 million plus. With all our money why didn't we take a punt at £5 million, surely a better option than others we brought in!

Whilst last season everything went for us, this season is reality, & injuries to a decent first team but a poor squad have found us out & the performances are in the main terrible.

Generally we are promoted to the level of our incompetence, & maybe that has happened for CW & SUFC?

Quite the contrary. None of last summers signings are PL standard. Bogle is closest. Of course, he’s hardly played because reasons.

And if you think they will be good for the Championship:

1. That remains to be seen.
2. That was not what they should have been recruited for.

Managers can lose it just like players: Wilder has lost it. Even some of his most ardent defenders on here are furious with him at this point.

What players should we have signed that are of PL standard that would fit our transfer budget and wage structure

I dont know. But you really think we got value for money with that lot?

Exactly you dont know
If youre going to call out our recruitment strategy at least suggest realistic tranfer targets we could have signed
Im sure Wilder would have wanted Watkins and Wilson up top instead of McBurnie and Brewster
I never said we got value for money for the forwards we have signed or Berge. Brewster may well come good and I think Bogle has been a great signing

I have said previously that if we want to become an established PL team we cant do it on the cheap I think we have learned a huge lesson in that we need to change our wage structure. Five years ago you could have got away with it but not in this day and age

I keep saying this but I will say it again: we were in the top 30 in the World for income last year. Not the UK, the world.

We could have had the pick of players from a number of good standard leagues who would not have demanded 50k a week. The Dubravkas of this world.

That isn’t easy, admittedly, but it doesn’t seem to have been tried. We went for Matty cash, didn’t get him, gave up. That’s pathetic.

But one thing Wilder did say earlier this season was that United were caught out by domestic pricing for players and how much business other PL teams did. Again, poor planning.

Right I have one question for the people who want CW out, if he goes please tell me who will take his place? I can think of no one available who could do a better job, be in tune with the fans genuinely who'd you bring in. If he'd have gone earlier in season possibly Mick McCarthy but other than than I'm stumped, but obviously if you've started a poll you know who you want in, WHO IS IT PLEASE.

You can’t think of anyone available who could do better than 20 defeats out of 25?

Jesus, I wouldn’t want him but Neil Warnock could do a better job than that.

The difference with Norwich, for me, is talent.

They had Godfrey, Lewis, Cantwell, Aarons and Buendía plus quality older players (Krul, Pukki etc)

When they came up they still bought talented younger players, a couple of cheap older ones and filled the gaps with loans. They clearly could function as a team in the PL but they clearly weren't good enough as a team. They go down, flog a couple of young players. Sign a load of younger talented players, use those signed in the PL who have matured a bit, buy a few reliable people and then loan cleverly. Their plan when they got promoted was this.

When we go down we have limited assets. If we say sold Berge and JoC then we don't then have 3 other talented young players. We then won't buy or loan outside of Britain. We don't have an excellent development system. We'll never do a Norwich. Could do a Bournemouth.

Please take time to read my post, I say no one available NOW, obviously you can so please enlighten this old man.

Against me better judgement I vote to keep Wilder.
I don't usually let my heart rule my head but in this case I believe that he is feeling the pain as we are, but he's in a better position than any of us to put it right.

I don’t know. I am just sick to the back teeth of the current regime. Again, I am sure the owners have sounded people out.

The new post Brexit rules on foreign coaches mean that you can only appoint one who has worked two full seasons in the last three years at a club in the top division of one of the five major European leagues... do you think when we are in The Championship we are going to attract someone of that standard?

Incidentally if these rules had been in place three years ago Norwich would not have been able to appoint Farke, Leeds would not have been able to appoint Bielsa and Man U would not have been able to appoint Ole.. The Norwegian League not being classed as one of the five major leagues.

That mate I can associate with yes we're all sick of losing week in week out, but I'm just trying to say there's no one available. If I'm honest I myself cannot even begin to explain why we've bombed like we have, but ATM it's better the Devil you know.

Managers can be prised away from clubs. You just have to pay compensation.

Yes for one season
Most of the clubs in that list of the top 30 clubs will have had this income for many seasons
Everton Liverpool Leicester Man Ure, Man City most of the PL then you have Bayern Real Madrid
They will all have accumulated great wealth over 10, 20 years. Most of them have mega rich owners
So its an unfair comparison

We could have had the pick of players from a number of good standard leagues who would not have demanded 50k a week. The Dubravkas of this world.
Yes we could / should have been more pro active in the foreign market

We went for Matty cash, didn’t get him, gave up. That’s pathetic.
Rumours have it Villa offered him double the wages we were prepared to pay
Why is it pathetic that we didnt get into a bidding war that we were never going to win
We signed Bogle who is IMO better value for money than Cash

But one thing Wilder did say earlier this season was that United were caught out by domestic pricing for players and how much business other PL teams did. Again, poor planning.

We are inexpreinced in recruiting for the PL
Probably we were caught out by this but Im sure its a lesson learned as I said in my previous post
