Penalty appeal and VAR

Ok, watch it again. The keeper saves the shot with his left foot, where else could his right go? I admit, it looked horrendous, but keepers regularly take out player in their own box to make saves. If it was a player, we'd have got the pen.
Every single commentator said it’s a pen some have gone even further. Argue we are shot argue the team selection was shit and the subs etc etc but don’t try and make an argument it wasn’t a pen just because we didn’t deserve anything.

If Ramsdale makes that challenge and Fulham get a penalty then there are 12 threads on here slagging off refs and VAR.

It's debatable. Either way, we deserved to lose.

Keepers can clear out players. That's just football.
You’re getting pelters but there’s a part of me that agrees with you about it not being a pen. In truth I’m really torn about whether it is or not, as a keeper I’d be pissed off if it was given against me but I guess the issue is the severity of the follow through.

What stinks about it is when you look at the penalty Werner “won” against us the other week and then compare it to what Bogle didn’t win just then. In truth it just shows how piss poor the state of officiating is in the game now.

Nice of you to dodge the question.

Oh, there's some child on here screaming and crying and wanting there to be a judicial inquiry into it, but it's 50/50 for me. It could have gone either way. It's not like the point makes any difference whatsoever. I'm much more concerned about the performance.

The object of the game is to get the ball into the goal that you are attacking more frequently than the opposition manage to get it into the goal that they are attacking.

In spite of all their possession Fulham managed to score once. If we had been awarded that penalty the odds are that we would probably also have managed to do that once.

On the balance of play we might consider ourselves a little lucky, but I never felt we were being completely overrun and peppered with shots that should have been buried. I did feel we were overly defensive but they did not have many clear cut chances where you felt they really really should have scored.

Had we been awarded that penalty and scored it, I really do not think that Fulham could consider themselves robbed.

We were terrible tonight, but at the point of that penalty given, they should have been down to 10 men due to the high foot on fleck. This penalty gets given, with 9 minutes left on the clock, and we could have got something out of it.

The performance was a disgrace tonight, it was as if we were treating it as a must not lose game as opposed a must win. I’m afraid the blame for that has to sit firmly with CW tonight. I’m gutted.

Jesus wept, it's desperation club tonight. It was a high foot on Fleck but Fleck is 5ft 4 and was crouching down and the Fulham player cleared the ball. It was a freekick but nothing more.

I’m not entirely sure what you are getting at this is about the decision not about what would have happened if we had scored with a few minutes to go. It was a penalty the fact we no way deserved anything from the game is completely and utterly irrelevant.

You seem to be obsessed with calling people children and crying etc it’s all a bit bizarre if I’m honest. I get you really didn’t think we deserved anything as I do but that is completely irrelevant you bell end it was a pen everyone can see it’s a pen but robbiez666 didn’t think so because we didn’t deserve anything but from the game.

Doesn’t matter about his height, it’s dangerous play when a foot is put in at head height and should have been a (second) yellow. Atkinson was looking straight at it and bottled the decision. Our biggest problem there was the fact we never seem to get involved with the ref like others teams do. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we don’t but we need to get much better at the dark arts side of the game at this level.

I think that having consumed vast amounts of beer may have prevented me from making myself clear.

I am agreeing with you. It was a penalty. The score was 1-0 at the time and had the penalty been awarded we would probably drawn the game and in my view the draw would not have been particularly undeserved.

Wilder on Ampadu.
"We make a poor error from a young boy that is going to be a good player and is a good player. Maybe he makes his mistakes at Sheff Utd and goes back to Chelsea and uses that. Honest mistake, he's a fabulous character."

If you think we deserved something from that game, could I suggest a visit to Specsavers.

He took his kneecap off. You’re the only person in the country, apart from the dickheads on the pitch and in Stockley Park, who think it’s not a penalty, sending off, and 18 months in the nick for assault.

I was agreeing we absolutely didnt deserve anything from the game but as I said it’s irrelevant. This isn’t about if we deserved anything or not I will leave that to the other thread we’re your are whining and crying like a child that people still want this manager to remain in charge.

Stevens clean through. Bryan header that Lunny missed. Clearest penalty since the game began. I make that 3?. What did Fulham create? Even Ampadu had to gift them their goal or they’d have never scored while I’ve got a hole in my arse.

was a penalty but it would have been a travesty we were truly awful playing turgid tactics outplayed outclassed whats happened to the real chris wilder
It was a travesty West Bring took 3 points at the Hawthorns, but they've still got them.

The keeper made the decision to go out in that way. In doing that he was quite obviously going to take the attacking player out.

It's all opinions I suppose, but in my opinion that was not a 50/50 challenge. It was a challenge where only one of the people involved was going to come out of it okay.

Sorry if it came across that I thought it was a 50/50 challenge. It wasn't. I thought it was a 50/50 whether it was a pen or not

cant deny that is a penalty at the time i thought 50/50. its obvious dangerous tackle & bogle gets to the ball 1st. if DCL gets a penalty earlier at Anfield despite trent couldnt possibly get out of the way. then this by same token is as well

but alot like the 2nd half v fulham at the Lane in oct. it wouldnt have changed how dreadful we were & extremely odd tactical decisions. just a get out jail free card

Fair enough and you are entitled to your view.

To be honest it's just quite pleasant to have a sensible discussion after witnessing the abuse, hatred and bile directed at our players and management during the game on shoutbox.

That also puts them down to 9 men for a wreck less and dangerous challenge, like Lundstrams at Brighton and that makes us huge favourites no matter how shite we were.

Ultimately, we were terrible and way too negative, strangely though I still say we had the three best chances, Stevens, Sharp (should’ve left it for McBurnie) both onside by the way and the Bryan header from a corner all should’ve been buried, all these coupled with the penalty and you’re looking at 4-2 to us, they only had one other good chance other than the goal and we created those two chances for them too, after seeing how shite and negative we were how crazy does that sound, 4-2 to us? 🤷‍♂️😁
