Sander Berge

And we were a good second division side when Sabella arrived,

The club always thinks it's done enough if it signs one good player.

We've seen Berge's natural position on many videoclips before he arrived, and midfield stopper or right wing back isn't it

It's not these players fault that the one good player we have can't find his feet in amongst the shit that surrounds them

As I’ve said before, forgetting pedigree, every one of our midfielders have proved themselves in the premier league for longer spells than Berge has.

So perhaps, it’s’s not the other players fault that a high earning, high fee player can’t do what he’s paid for without others being blamed for his shortcomings.

I hope he stays with us next season regardless of what division we find ourselves in. He’s the best midfielder at the club and will only get better as he matures as a player.
More established players have stuck by their club when relegated. Plus he’s made friends whilst here and seems happy enough with how his rehabilitation is going. We’ve signed players for the future. If we lost any of those players it would be a huge loss in our development as a club.
The only players I would be ok with letting go are Mousse and Lowe. Mousse only because he’s always injured and Lowe as he just doesn’t look good enough for the top level.

He’s more than capable of doing that at prem level and at the start of this season was one of the best on the pitch for us although that was in a poor side. I agree playing deep in a two is what he’s done best before coming here although when he signed he said he’d come here to learn to be a complete player which probably means playing further forward.
playing this flat 3 has not suited sander hes not a rcm player for a start and yes your probably right yogi he is capable of carrying the ball at premier league level but for some reason just hasnt done it might have been different in a different formation

I’d disagree and say he has done it quite consistently the issue for him/us is there’s no end product we stop at the edge of the area pass it around and lose possession. Now to become an elite player he will have to develop the end product himself but until that point we can circumvent that problem by having players who have an end product so when he’s advanced with the ball he can pass it on to others to create chances.

If he's already on the way out then what a waste of time it was signing him. I'd be amazed if he's gone up in value after this season and we make a profit

If we can get anything like the outlay we made on him back, then he can go for me.

Decent enough plsyer but just doesnt grab the game by the Scruff of the neck and is a bit wet (definitely for his size).

Can live with this either way. If he goes then I genuinely wish him well.

Bye bye berge got to saw you play in the flesh about twice. Horrible how things have turned out.

He's taken the chance to show off his skills? Really? His one good pass or tackle a game, combined with running like you're wading through treacle, and showing the heart of a chicken, is showing off your skills?

I only hope that someone else is fooled by this charlatan and makes an offer that allows us to get our money back.

He will go down in history at the first of a dreadful series of deals that saw us throw away our TV money on players who are not good enough for the PL.

Not even convinced he’ll shine in the Championship to be honest

Christ, what a depressing statement that is. So, we’re not, and never will be a club big enough to house the likes of Sander Berge then Chris? Got it, nice one. His statement is probably 100% true, but how about keeping your powder dry about it in public? Save the brutal honesty for the terrible decisions made in the last 2 games, eh?

First 5 or 6 games of the season season, he was our best player by an absolute mile. He was the only one who created anything at all. Carries the ball very well, and delivered some good balls, only for us to fail to capitalise. His form had dropped a little before injury, but let's be fair, so has everyone else's.

He's clearly better on the ball than off it, but this is such a reactionary take on Berge.

No it isn’t. He’s had one really good game - Spurs last season - and the rest of the time flatters to deceive. Does some things well, but only in flashes.

And there’s no point in defending him. He wants out - despite being under contract. He has no stomach for a fight.

Who are you talking about ?

I don't know if you listen to Bladespod, but in their 1/4 season review, interestingly both Beans and Roygbiv gave Sander player of the season so far. At that time I though he was the obvious standout. A couple of neutrals I'm friends with also said that Berge looked at standout, in a poor team.

I think we've seen some much better team performances since then, but he started the season well, I think he suits RM better than dm. But what what I would say in both Berge and Norwood's defence, is that playing as a deep lying playmaker is much harder this season, as our movement is nowhere near what we've seen before. JOC plays a big part in that, he's consistently shown for the ball.

A Rolls-Royce of a player but not one particularly suited to Utd's formation nor style of play. That said, he tried his best to adapt especially when asked to play RCM - a position that really doesn't fit with his physique.

I could see him excelling at the top end of the Bundesliga in a Frankfurt, Dortmund, Leverkusen type of side. I don't watch enough German football to be an authority on teams' formations but he could fly in a double-pivot in front of a back four, with four options in font of him.

I’m 50/50 on Mouss. Lowe at 23 will only get better. Think Stevens will mainly be cover for JoC, with Robinson being sold/loaned, while Lowe and RND battle for LWB.

And you know this, how?

I'll be interested to see if he ever does play for a "top" club or becomes a "top top" player. I haven't seen it in him myself although so many of our fans seem to believe it.

I tihnk he's decent enough, on occasions he's carried the ball fair distances it that kind of languid, lumbering way. I don't remember him making key passes or helping greatly in defence. I still think he'd have been better tried as one of the centre backs. I don't think he's quick enough to play for a very good side in midfield, in any major European League.

If I believe ESPN's data then in 27 games for us he managed 2 goals, 2 assists and managed a total of 15 shots at goal (4 on target). In 17 of those games, no shots at all.

No he didn’t
Look, I know it's difficult when you nail your colours to the mast early and give yourself a username for your favourite player and then that player wants to leave. You are in the denial phase now. Don't worry - it will pass. Anger will follow, and then acceptance when he toddles off to PSV or somewhere else where he can shoot fish in a midfield barrel next season.

At no point has anybody at Sheffield United FC gone on record to say Berge wants to leave.

Berge is the only player to get worse whilst not in the team! Mousset (to some) was the 2nd coming of our Savior on return from injury... Etc etc

Berge however now flatters to deceive, has no stomach for a fight, heart of a chicken and runs through treacle.

It's fair to question whether he was a good fit for our style of play, but he's come in since arriving and played with Norwood, Fleck, Lundstram or Osborn. All either simply not good enough or devoid of form.

It baffles me, alongside Egan and JOC the only genuine Premier League quality players - and only midfielder who doesn't treat the ball like a hot potato!
