Task gets harder

Practically everyone who has replied to this thread is living in the real world.

The words "keep believing" are actually used in one of the posts on this thread, though (I believe).

And if someone posts something daft they should prepared to be told they're acting daft. That's not a slap down, it's social media - it used to be known as pub talk
There's a difference between believing we can do it and only having to believe and it will happen, which is what you claimed and which no one has said.

I'm a big believer in what goes around, comes around in football.

For that reason I'm predicting we're officially relegated at Belland Road in April.

I think we've all had our friendly discussions with blade too long , and it's true he is such a japester.
Personally I don't go in for the prediction game, whatever the situation, I find it fairly pointless most of the time. I am still hopeful, not as positive as some, but I haven't given up. I just find it odd when someone posts some sort of escape plan and it is met with a tirade of "we're down" posts.
Ok but ‘we’re down’ aren’t we?! 😉

Aww come on Hamburg Blade, you're taking this all far too literally because it was pretty obvious, I thought, that my first post on it was done for effect which is why I alluded to Deal or No Deal. I wasn't expecting a forensic examination of my choice of words.

I can't speak for others but I am not naturally negative, I try to look for the positives, but there have been loads of these threads already and although I shun pessimists there's nothing more irritating in life than a cheery, over-optimistic, true believer

There's some real loser mentality on here. Don't be concerned about what the other teams are doing - that's beyond our control. We keep going, focusing on winning each game as it comes.⚔️
Another one where it’s a case of questioning the mentality of those fans who dare not say that we’ll win every game.

We get it, you like to say we’ll win every game, even if we’re losing you like to impress your views that we can still win, we all understand the concept of possible and impossible. It’s fine for you to hold these views, like it’s fine for others not to be as positive.

But to say we’ll not stay up is not a ‘loser mentality’. It’s based on the highly probable outcome at the end of the season.

My Blades pessimism outlook says - we get a glimmer of hope and it goes to the last game of the season. Burke through on goal but trips over his laces and we draw the game. Liston gets a pen and scores ! Meanwhile a dodgy keeper against our rivals lets an unlikely goal in and we are down ! We later find out the keeper was ineligible to play as owned by Chansiri and has huge gambling debts. A brown envelope stuffed full of cash is found in his house. But the FA say everything is ok because the Blades don’t belong in their league !

heard any of this paranoia before ?- it could never happen in real life could it though ?

god lockdown is making me go crazy 🤣🤣

As fans, we really can't "fight and fight". That's not even down to the manager, ultimately it's down to the squad and the players on the pitch. When we're in the ground we do have some influence (12th man and all that!), but we have none this season, and it's delusional to think that 20000 people sat at home hoping will change owt. We've played 23 games so far and for great chunks of that time there has been little in the way of "fight and fight" from the players, which is evidence that not a lot (certainly not enough) will happen in the remaining 15 games to change what seems to be inevitable.
Having said that, it ain't the end of the world. Disappointing, especially considering the high hopes we had, but not worth slagging each other off for.
As I've just heard on the radio, over 117,000 people and their families have had to deal with something rather more devastating than their football club getting relegated, in the 11 short months since that glorious day on 7th March last year when we were last inside BDTBL (it was a great day topped off by a beer festival at Abbeydale Picture Palace!!).
So let's try and get a sense of perspective and look forward to jollier times ahead, whatever league we're in (and we have had some excellent times in the 2nd tier- it's what you make it that counts!!).😁😁😁

Yes, just checked our odds and Bet365 and Paddy Power both have us 1/25 to be relegated.

Those losers.

We will most likely get relegated with all the sdies ahead picking up but there is no point in givng up you never know what could end up happeneing. Theres still a group of teams in the twenties that we could catch if any one of them hits a bad run of 5 or 6 games which is definely not impossible.

This is true - Huddersfield Town won the league 3 times running in the twenties!!
🤣🤣🤣

we need to pick up 3 or 4 wins out of the next 5 to give ourselves any sort of hope.

I can't see us getting anything against West ham away, aside from man City they are the form team of the division

Fulham we could win but just as easily lose, Southampton are off form so we could realistically win, Liverpool are all over the place so there's a slight chance, Leicester away I can't see us getting anything

The problem is we're playing so badly, we nearly always concede and rarely create anything from open play

I'd love us to turn it around and stay up but realistically we will be down by 1 May

Will someone order a taxi home for this Drunk blade ?

It may not have looked so bad had it not come at the bottom of 2 pages of "we're down" and "not another one". As I said, this sort of analysis/prediction is not my thing, but the current situation lends itself to it, just as being 14 points off the play-offs would, and it's inevitable that people will post these sort of threads. If they're so annoying to people, why read them and comment on them?

Until it's a certainty (and regardless of what anyone says it isn't yet) then I reserve the right to keep some hope, and I won't apologise for that.

I can keep that view whilst also accepting that it is highly, highly unlikely.
I don't think anyone is asking you to apologise for it.

I think the issue some have is that a few don't seem to like the fact that quite a few have accepted relegation and behaving like they think that's not right.

As in the songs perhaps it's "Dreamin' " rather than Wishin' and Hopin' "!!
Dreams are great but don't bear much resemblance to reality whereas wishes and hopes do have a chance of coming true.
When we were in League 1, we all wished and hoped we'd get to the PL, and against the odds it happened.
We can all dream of surviving in the PL but at this point it's not likely to be a dream come true (in reality they don't!).

Anyway, enough of this rubbish, time for tea and a beer!!🍻🍻

Newcastle 13 more points making 37?

A Chelsea 0
A Man U 0
H Wolves 3
A West Brom 1
H Villa 1
A Brighton 0
A Spurs 0
A Burnley 1
H West Ham 3
A Liverpool 0
H Arsenal 0
A Leicester 0
H Man City 0
H Blades 1
A Fulham 3

It doesn't really change anything in terms of staying up. The target is still the same, to win as many as possible and catch 17th place (which probably won't be Burnley). It would be a massive boost to see the gap closing though, which it isn't. Since our improvement in form, it's actually got bigger!!
That’s what you get when you don’t start playing until the second half of the season I guess.
