he is yes but the facts he is stating is true no way any team can survive in the modern day premier league paying the salaries we offer im not saying players should be on these sort of salaries but its just the way it is

And yet we managed to survive comfortably last season.
 
Can't agree with the mcbernie criticism, he set 3 good chances up Burke Fleck and Sharpe at the end. Chelsea are miles away from where we are in terms of quality and experience and had two giants at centre back. Not many of the bottom 6 will get anything out of Chelsea and one or two of them will get spanked which we certainly didn't. We came close yesterday not many of the teams around us will give them as hard a game.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

You could make the case for a first 11 of biggest wastes of money in the prem, Ramsdale, Brewster, McBurnie and possibly Berge would all be in contention.

There have been been worse players, sure, but few for such a high fee.

Yes we know what he is aiming for but why adopt a tactic that a) has put us at the bottom of the league without winning a game (while Mc B has payed) and b) is not a tactic that has ever proven useful in the premier league....ever!!
 
Two questions: (sorry had to get it out cuz I'm fuming)

Is Wilder a forward thinking progressive manager as some people thought?

Does Wilder pick 'yes men' and 'pets' who won't argue with him over over what's best for the club??

He's guilty for blowing his loot without addressing the midfield. This was said at the start of the season.

I’d answer No (never actually thought he was) and no (think his signings and injuries haven’t left him many options)

im a big chris wilder fan but spending 33m on a striker and 2 wing backs without spending owt on midfield was a major major boo boo and i think he knows it

Rabbits have to be on the road to get caught in the headlights....our rabbit barely leaves the bench.. and that is the saddest indictment of the money spent...two 35 year olds are keeping 50m of signings on the bench

Cheers for the link, I enjoyed seeing the whole thing not the stage managed rubbish they put on the website. Bit of a worrying insight into his thought processes repeatedly talking about a 'back 8'
He should be thinking about a back 3 and a midfield 5. He has properly gone into his shell as a manager, he is fearful and very deferential to the big budget opposition and now the team reflects this. Shame really.

Chris keeps talking about not the system but individual mistakes, but mistakes will always be a part of any system. A good system has to anticipate, and know what to do when a mistake is made.

It has been clear for all of this season that Norwood will make mistakes and that our central defence cannot rely on him as their last line of protection, and yet he has been left in that role and has continued to make frequent mistakes leading to goals at crucial times.

He is not Kante, he’s not even Rice and they can make mistakes. If Chris wants Norwood to take chances then risk management says that he cannot leave his back unprotected. He needs a wingman.

I’ve said elsewhere that I think it’s too late now and we need to move out the past and move on with our plans, but if we persist then Norwood has to be half of a double pivot that can cover his back.

Interestingly, when you know that your mistakes are less critical statistics show that you make less mistakes anyway, because the pressure that you feel under is reduced.

What you say is correct, but, we had a squad and crowd, home and away riding the crest of a wave so very little fear, no long term injuries, few suspensions, passionate fans in the ground and on this board also.
Along comes Covid, season stutters, no need to go on the rest is history, it pains me to say
 
This system isn't working with the players we've got, uncreative defensive players are having to do attacking roles. We're playing tippy tappy stuff around the box and losing it then they break straight onto us and have a clear chance, happened a number of time last night. If West ham had been more clinical they could have had 5 or 6 easily.

He needs to switch the formation for Fulham or I can see another 3 0 loss and it will 100% be Wilders fault

It had surprised me this season, how many games we’ve played where we look like we are playing with no midfield whatsoever. This now makes more sense.

Its insane isn’t it, that a premier league side has only one way of playing in which the manager feels there’re effective. Seemingly recruiting players for that system and so, restricting any option to change formation with players that are actually trained in the position there’re being asked to play.

Because of this we have no ability to play two centre backs at this level confidently, have no creative midfield runners, No number 10 he actively moved them on, don’t have any wingers and haven’t invested in proven premier league quality. To expect a change of formation is wishful thinking. Maybe we set up like the Bristol game but is wasn’t inspiring, especially when you consider the same team we played then get blasted away at Watford.

I keep asking myself were has £120 million gone?

In answer to your last Q, I can tell you that the vast majority of that was sat on the bench or in the stands watching if not all the night then certainly most of it.... Berge, Moose, McBurnie, Brewster, Burke, Freeman in Nottingham....

And some wonder why the Prince decided not to back CW in the transfer market this January when we were as good as gone.

Well I wasn't. Right now, I wouldn't trust CW to spend my youngest's pocket money wisely.
