He can't/won't run, his closing down is fucking embarrassing, he ambles back, jogging behind opposition player, he never looks like he is going to score, mis-controls the ball all the time, and he can't hold the ball up even when he does have it in to his feet.
What CAN he actually do well? And please don't say "we look better defensively when he plays". He's supposed to be a forward!
He epitomises our season. He's slow, weak, totally ineffectual, and tries to convince everyone that he's trying really hard when he's just in first gear.
I absolutely HATE watching the prat. We aren't good enough to carry him and he offers nothing but an ability to change our style from a passing game to going long and giving the ball straight back to the opposition.
It genuinely baffles me!

I’ve never seen a striker look so surprised and utterly confused about what to do when a ball falls free to him in the box. You’d think he’d never seen a football before.
 



Generally think he was alright, showed some nice touches when he dropped off and received ball to feet, including the “assist” for the own goal.

Berge doesn't suit us/ we don't suit him. Same with Brewster. Amazing how we have failed with our c£20m purchases including Ramsdale. That's 4 blokes for £80m - the amount we'd lose if we tried to sell them is embarrassing. So we are now stuck with them and haven't got a midfield or defence worth speaking of. How ironic that CW introduced the phrase "spunkin money" as a strategy to avoid.
 
Burke would technically get the assist for the goal with his terrible control, but it was a decent pass from McBurnie, so was the one near the start which Burke also messed up. Neither of them should be starting games at the moment though.

He has the amazing ability (not seen since jostein flo) to jump and actually end up shorter than if he had stayed stood up.
 
Why get rid when we are heading for the Championship? We'll need McBurnie when we are down there as he's a proven Champ player. Same applies to Brewster. Time to reassess and possibly sell is if we bounce straight back up again. That's the time when CW has to be ruthless and bring in a top striker or two although I'm still confident that with experience Brewster will come good for when we get back up again.
 
It's horses for courses isn't it really.

Try to press them with pace (Burke) or try to unsettle them physically (McBurnie).

Little to no point having Sharp chase shadows when we have 25% possession.

McGoldrick you can always make a case for. But McBurnie has had joy against Christianson before.

We had big chances and missed them. Burke was a scorable opportunity in the 1st minute. Sharp and Brewster were unfortunate late in with efforts and Basham can consider himself unlucky on the penalty overturn. I can't say him being a few inches off would have made any difference but rules are rules. The second goal was suicidal. But I'd also question how much the forward had decided to collide with Ramsdale. Call it clever but he wasn't going to score though maybe if Ramsdale hadn't come out at 100 mile an hour, the opportunity would not have presented itself, albeit the fault was in the backpass.

I just hope in the more winnable fixtures we don't forget about Sharp. He and McGoldrick are the most likely goal scorers like it or not and we played better chance creating football when they were on the field.
 
He's crap unfortunately. Good defensively from corners and set pieces but that's not what we pay him for. He's paid to hassle opposition defences and score goals. He's about as much use as the French in a war
 



Funny how he 'did nothing', despite his fact he created 3 of our 4 chances. Puts a perfect through ball to Burke, who should do better, his ball resulted in the own goal and it was his flick that gave sharp a chance at the death.

He wasn't brilliant, but he could've very easily had two assists to his name last night. He technically created more chances than Werner or Mount....

You may be right - well about the championship anyway.
However, if we do not play to a player’s strengths or play them out of position then what is the point in buying them?

In fact to be honest, if only you could stick a brain in Burke's body. Good build, pace to burn, but he's like one of those toy wind up robots that only changes direction when it hits a solid object
 
I know that it's best to play to a player's strengths and that there are "horses for courses" players which is the manager's job to pick and make a team out of, but the "no service" and "play to his strengths" and "play alongside the right players" has become too much of an excuse, not just for McBurnie, but several others, including Berge. For the money they cost and the nominal notion that they are PL players I expect them all to apply themselves a bit better and be able to show some skill and ability no matter what. Some of these players are far too below par for it all to be someone else's fault.

Possibly. Add to that the drink drive thing, and the twitter pics with the Owl T shirt, odds have been against him for a while.

But for me, it's mostly the following. In football, as in life, we are mostly driven by value for money. If you go to Miller & Carters and order one of their steaks, it better be worth the money (it was BTW). If you go to Spoons and have one of theirs, you accept it's not going to be a world beater at their prices.

So for me, thats the thing with McBurnie. But the worst part of it is, I was completely on board with his signing. Decent record at champ level, all the signs were he could make the step up. In the current climate, ANY player with those attributes is going to cost money.

Problem is, McBurnie is starting to look more Spoons than Miller and Carter.................

20m is the going rate for someone who has scored a few in the championship!
You get the odd one that steps up like Watkins
