Well that’s it I think. Watched it with a bit of a tear in my eye as a far superior team probably consigned us to a relegation that, let’s face it, we very much deserve. It hasn’t been a capitulation and there was plenty of spirit and commitment out there but, oh my God, we are so naive it is painful to watch at times.

We aren’t gong out of the back door as Wilder often promises but it won’t exactly be a conga out of the front door either. More an embarrassed cough and a “got to leave because of the babysitter so we’re off now”.

As our beloved Vinnie famously said ‘it’s been emotional’ and I wouldn’t trade in the last four years for anything. We are simply in the wrong division for us and we just have to accept that. What is different is that I am not expecting the freefall we suffered under Warnock and we are pretty well set up for a challenge for promotion next year. I think a strike force of Brewster, McBurnie, Burke, McGoldrick, Moussett (?) and Sharp will rip it up next year. Add to that the return of JOC and Ramsdale establishing himself at a level he can deal with and we will be right up there.

So yes, something of a sad, tearful farewell to a Blades renaissance that will live forever in the memory, but look forward to a new season full of hope and COVID free renewed success!

Well I loved Vinnie - maybe I overstated others’ views!

With Warnock I mean our relegation under him left us feeling hopeless and precipitated a drop off the edge of a cliff. I am happy to alter that to ‘freefall following warnock’. My point was that we are now better prepared for relegation financially, managerially and in relation to the talent within the club and I am feeling much more hopeful rather than completely desperate as I did then

Nothing much has changed.

Brighton and Burnley got a point. Newcastle won against a team who shipped 9, albeit very luckily.

What Fulham and West Brom do is academic because we have to finish above 1 more anyway.

West Ham, Fulham, Southampton, Villa, Leeds, Arsenal, Wolves, Brighton, Palace, Newcastle, Burnley. All teams we can get wins against.

Liverpool, Leicester, Tottenham, Everton. All teams on current form we're unlikely to get much if anything against.

We got 25 points in the corresponding fixtures last year.

Unlikely, but we have a lot of winnable games. If the players and management really are good enough to be Premier League, they'll win enough of them.

Yes Vinnie Jone. Two reasons:

1. He is famously associated with the quote ‘it’s been emotional’ and I think for Blades’ fans that it has certainly been that for the last four years
2. ‘Beloved’ (by me anyway) because rather than trying to remove the bollocks of players like Gascogne he actually managed to sew a pair on to the United team of the time

Not sure why that means I am a ‘bed wetter’ in your subsequent post. I am just pretty sanguine about it all now. Just want the season over and give this squad time to regroup and rip it up next season in a division that won’t see us constantly standing back admiring the opposition. Not defeatist just realistic and with some optimism

Lost it in midfield for me. Yes were up against world class internationals, but Lundstram and Norwood were poor. Played with lead boots on. Mis controls and poor passing all night.

Problem is/was. We had no bench to call on and change it.

Currently the Cricket Gods are still dishing it out, after we built a stand on the original home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. They still have nearly 50 years left to pull our strings, before the footy gods get their turn.

Always ends in tears for us in this league, we never seem to have enough cash, time, or luck to be anything but one bad season away from relegation .
We've had some nice players in the past and still have, but we've never seemed to have had enough depth to be but a few injuries or lack of form away from the drop.

That's because humanist leaders of services can only look back on past memories, they offer no hope for the future!!! I for one am certain that there is a future so don't bother inviting me to the navel gazing fest!
