Watched Arsenal v Newcastle and Pedro Mari doing just what JOC does, think they got him last summer from somewhere and was not that expensive,he is Spanish not Mexican.
They got him from one of the biggest and most successful clubs in South America... and, of course, will be paying him wages well outside our budget.

Made me smile when i read this >

Arsenal sign Pablo Mari from Flamengo

The Spanish centre-back becomes Arsenal's first signing since Mikel Arteta's appointment as head coach.

Arsenal have signed Flamengo defender Pablo Mari on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

The deal for the Spaniard is worth up to £12m, with Arsenal paying a £4m loan fee upfront while having the option to make the move permanent for £8m in the summer.

I know it goes against many opinions on here and mine for much of the season but I personally think Lundstram has started to perform pretty well recently and has been one of the best players in the last few games. This is probably because it looks like his 'big' move to Rangers, if not off, is very nearly off. Admittedly this isn't a resounding endorsement of his character, but if his motivation has resurfaced it might be in all parties interests to meet half way on wage demands and keep him for next season, rather than forking out for someone new. At least he knows the system/team and has shown, in periods, he can be effective in the Prem. Watching our midfield, he is the only one with anything that looks like his pace is faster than an asthmatic snail, he looks and moves to find space to receive the ball and he always wants the ball, whereas the rest just look relieved if they find another united player with a pass.

Hard to disagree with this.
The recent 'lesser' games in the fa cup have allowed our original midfield 3 to begin to gel again. Don't get me wrong they aren't at last seasons early levels just yet, but we ve seen much improvement of late. And Lunny deserves credit for his performances. Far more energetic and impactive. When he plays as part of a team and not for himself he is a much better player for it.

Rumours that Palace after him, but deal obviously held up until we get another in.
Obviously gives us money if he goes now as opposed to at the end of his contract

Just been brought to my attention that someone on Facebook quoting similar, so may be something in it. Either way it gives us something to think about on what would otherwise be a boring transfer deadline day.

In other news, fleck interview quotes him as breaking two bones in his back when playing for Scotland no doub5 rushed back too early and not surprised it has taken him some time to get back to something like

Straight swap for Eze, Zaha, Schlupp or Townsend. Not fussy, any will do.

All depends if a replacement is lined up surely, Wilders not daft, if he goes today we will see a replacement. John Swift?
Still be gobsmacked.

A. Given our midfield cover, irrespective of getting a replacement in, it leaves us short of 1 key midfielder that both suits and knows our system. This would surely be the clubs perspective.

B. The player would appear to be perfectly happy running his contract down. The players perspective.

Just don’t make any sense to me.

those fucking nonsense internationals at the start of the season have had a big impact on the season.

Berge got injured, fleck broke bones, Ramsdale and Brewster didn’t get much preseason with us. Sure a couple of the Irish lads had knocks too. Completely pointless waste of everyone’s time and during the middle of a pandemic something that should have been avoided.

overall I can’t see us letting lundstram go without a replacement - we only have 2 fit midfielders at the mo if that happens. And to be fair the midfield is finally starting to look somewhere approaching competent

They all got fucking injured on international duty, I am sure McBurine and Stevens picked up knocks while away on internationals.

McBurnie should give up international football - most of the Scotland fans seem to think he’s crap - and he’s not Scottish anyway.
There is a tap in here that I am doing well to resist 😉😀.

Whisper it quietly round these parts but Lunny has also picked up these last few games. Looking sharp, influential, playing at a better tempo, and not hiding away.

Agreed. Just a pity though that he (like a good few of our players this season) have taken until January until they started playing again. Some have short changed the fans this season.

still think he will go in the summer and it wont bother me one bit hes looked totally disinterested for most of this season funny how he seems to have upped his game coming up to the january transfer window 🤔

Some people are blind to not see this, he wants out and upped his game again to try and get a move, he’ll again go back to his normal form of not giving a fuck from now on, I can’t wait until the cunt fucks off.

Just a shame we have barely any midfielders otherwise I’d make him train with the younguns too. He might be able to pull the wool over some peoples eyes but he won’t mine.

This goes back to something I've always thought, and have probably said on here a few times. Lunny is elevated by others, he doesn't elevate others himself IMO. I'm not surprised his game improves as Fleck and Norwood improve. That's why his value to the team is limited and why he hasn't been offered the kind of money he's after.

he wont get the kind of money hes after hes just not good enough know we dont know the ins and outs of his situation but its really suprised me the way chris has handled this

I kind of hope he buckles and accepts Wilder's terms (if it's still on the table) or less now, especially given it's gone awfully quiet for him elsewhere. He's a useful body to have in this squad whether you like him or not, and though he didn't cut it in the Championship I'd be very intrigued to see what he's like back down there next season.

I can see him signing up if the offer's still there. he wasn't given a sniff in the Championship and could be very useful for us next season. I just can't shake this overriding view that if you don't want to commit to Sheffield United, shut the door on your way out.

Malmo he will be gone. One of the lower table premiership teams will sign him on or near to the wages he's after. I can see Palace, Brighton, Newcastle being interested as will be the promoted teams.

They will get him for free and even if they pay him 50k a week for 3 years thats £7.5m which is what a player of his ability would cost in the transfer market....and what we are supposedly paying Jags

My mate said something very interesting about Lundstram in that he is only playing to pad his stats so he can get a better move. I watched lunny closely since and I think my mate might be right.

That could be why he 99 times out of 100 takes the easy way by asking for the ball with his back to the opposition goal and then giving it back to the player it came from, usually no more than 10 metres away.

With the other once in a hundred he can thread a great pass (such as the one to Norwood who made the assist for Billy's goal recently) with great effect.

If somebody has told him his passes made and passes completed stats will get him a big move then he must have some very bad advisors.

When people are looking for new signings they never scout, or look at videos of the player in actual matches do they?

Like I say - bad advisers and he's swallowed the bait hook, line and sinker.

Perhaps ...

He’ll be off for sure. Can’t see him getting anywhere near 50k a week but it’ll be more than we’re prepared to pay. Plus he’ll be getting a lovely signing on fee
