to all the 429 who were at tractor land.. i salute you :)
now then mickey.. i'm going to tell you something.. we've been watching this shite for a while now and one thing has become clear.. williamson is the only i repeat only bit of quality we have in midfield.. he is a central midfielder who has justified his postion in this team..
putting him on the wing to make room for your new monty clone .. indeed having two montys (it was bad enough with one) in the centre at all, is managerial suicide.. 'aahm a blade an a luv tony currie' or not mate

Agreed, Adams has not impressed me so far with the teams he's picked.

Ok then clever cloggs, what should he have done? Ward? Yeates?

With Ched out and Slew presumably not travelling because of the Academy game, it leaves few options the side yesterday was a very much patched up side and unfortunately everything back fired - even discipline.

Hows about show some nuts in the run up to the transfer window and say publically that what hes got isnt good enough, what hes being allowed to sign isnt good enough and that he realises hes dropped a bollock coming here because despite how much he loves the club ,if the directors and chairman arent going to put their hands in the money pot and allow him to make some quality buys we are basically foooked .Id have more respect for him if he did that rather than telling us in the press on friday we are turning the corner and almost there and then turning out a tactically inept piss poor set of players who quite frankly could nt defend thier mothers honour or score in a whore house .

His job isn't to earn your respect, it's to keep us up. Belittling his players in public isn't going to help meet that objective.

If he cant earn the respect of a 52 year old fat man what chance has he got with a load of has beens and loanees to whom hes depending on to save the club from relegation ,he was here long enough before the close of the window to see what we can all see ,the present squad is devoid of skill ,pace and more importantly heart and no amount of coddling the players we have be lumbered with will change that ,he should have been more demanding of the board and less sympathetic to a bunch of no hopers most of whom should be plying thier trade at a lower level for other clubs rather than dragging my club down to their level.
Part of being a manager is to make tough decisions and to move people on and out ,hes missed his chance to do that and is guilty of not calling it like it is IMHO

Spot on mate. All these people who say....."we were shit before he arrived.... its not Mickys fault.....blah blah blah" are talking out of their arses. Yes, we were poor before he arrived, we were in with a shout of relegation along with 7 or 8 other teams. Whats happened now? 3rd from bottom and 4 points adrift, with a team of hopeless cloggers.

So it's all MA's fault.

So all the the rest before didn't count?

Oh and the players at the club who don't give a shit?

Oh well.

Were you shouting 'Bassett out!' back in '88?

My advice:

Try this:

Simonsen
Parrino Collins Lowry Nosworthy
Bogdanovic Doyle Williamson Yeates
Bent Evans

- Ok height
- As much pace as we've got
- More width
- Williamson playmaking centrally
- More goal threats
- Use zonal defending

Micky is a great manager. However, moving to Sheffield United did him no favours, went with his heart and not with his head. Oh well, the more games you lot lose, the more chance we can have him back!

Adams has to prove himself at a higher level again. He's inherited a mess here, but fan or not, any manager would have taken the challenge.

Well most of you have you have tolerated mediocrity, encouraged turgid hoofball and defended resource-draining non-footballers to the death.

I think you should take your share of the blame.

Hang your heads in shame.

You give your support to the hoofball agenda by buying a season ticket each year. I blame you. :D

So blame the fans?

Others have tried that.

The true fans are the ones in there every year through all the ups and downs, putting their hard earned cash into season tickets, travelling to all the sh*t houses around the country to watch the Blades win or lose....We salute you!

That will be me, then. I acknowledge your salute.

Definitely not!!!! He inherited a team of pansies. Every week we got bullied and battled out of the game. As ive put in another thread, under Basset i could see some green shoots of progress. He signed Agana and Etherstone, a proper striker and a midfielder who could both battle and play football. He turned a piss poor side into a poor side that (typical Blades of course) ultimately just slipped through the trap door. But even then, there was light. In the close season he then sold Beagrie and with the money bought some of his own players - a young lad called Brian Deane was one of them.

Interesting to compare that Bassett team with the current one.
Seem to remember Paul Williams was in Bassett's line-up, Richard Cadette and I think I've tried to blank the rest out though you could tell Agana had something about him.
Shite as the current lot are playing, I actually think on paper they're much better than the Bassett team was.

I thought Adams would know the lower leagues and bring in come young hungry developing talent; instead he has bought old donkeys. Very disappointed and suspect Speed would have done much better in the transfer window. He got us Andy Reid after all who to my mind got Ched scoring. Further why dont we play Jordan Slew - picked for England but cant make the bench at BDTBL. Look at Connor Whickam and wants happened to the Chelsea youth captain? Unless there is a plan B we are down. His selections remind me of Blackwell - why oh why does Cresswell keep his place? Am very afraid.

Purely from memory - and its not brilliant mine lol. Basset inherited a team of lightweight short arses who were nowhere near good enough to play football and couldnt win a feight in an empty room. Basset's challenge was much more difficult that Adams faced 7 matches ago. Adams had a sort of hybrid team who could play a bit of football (Speed influence) but also battle if a bit (Blackwell influence). For me Carver showed more in the 3 games he had than either of our other 3 managers this season. Basset brought in Agana, Etherstone, a couple of donkeys in Williams and the crap centre half i cant remember his name, also Webster i think and a thug who broke his leg after a couple of games - Downes.

As ive said, ultimately we slipped down, but we could see what Basset was doing - we saw the changes to the team and potential progress, it was just a matter of slotting in a couple more pieces of the jigsaw. Contrast that with Adams - the current team look dead and buried with the future very bleak.

Darren Carr, the crap centre half?

Think that might be a rosy memory of the Bassett team that went down.
I remember going to Bristol City for the away game of the play-off and we were pretty desperate.
Seem to remember coming away from Leeds conceding at least five, with Pearson, I think, getting a hat-trick and us shipping six at Boro though I didn't have the pleasure of enjoying that one.
Watching that team going down you never would have thought it possible he could do what he did in the following two years.

yep i went to all the above games too - must have been daft in those days lol. Perhaps you are right and my memories of those days are tainted by what followed, but i can definitely remember remarking with the lads how refreshing it was to see a Blades side stand there and battle. We knew we werent the best in the world, but for too many seasons had just laid there and played dead. Under Basset i could see the foundations for progression.

Im just amazed no one has picked up on Bergens "Zonal Marking" classic. Doesn't work, won't work and can't work. If we can't man mark (and we can't) what chance have we got with Zones. I can just imagine the total mayhem as one defender stops because its "outside his zone" and the other one stops because "he didn't realise it was in his zone.

FFS you need footballers who can play and think for that, not that shower of emptyheads we have right now.

Zonal marking is the norm in modern football. Here's a brief introduction for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marking_(association_football)

>My advice:

thanks bergen.. i couldn't have put it better myself.. it's not that clever to see that putting our best player on the wing is a dumb idea.. square pegs in round holes never works. it isn't rocket engineering .. williamson is too an important player for us to be stuck on the wing.. he probably knows it too .. hence the petulance at yesterdays game??
btw did anyone else watch the swansea vs cardiff game.. britton was constantly described as a holding midfilelder.. which begs the question.. when monty and britton were employed 'together' that means we were employing 'two' holding midfielders?? no wonder we can't score for s***

agree williamson is NOT a winger. I would play him and monty in middle and yeates on wing. Not too sure about on left wing because we aint got any good wingers at lane. Cressy isn't a winger and he's shit this season in all fairness.

Agree that Monty and Britton didn't complement eachother enough, and it was a huge problem that neither contributed with goals or assists, as their prior career records also showed.
