Absolutely. We're going down this season. There is absolutely no one available who can save us (and this goes back to December).
Anyone who wouldn't want Wilder leading us next season wants their bumps felt.
Personally, I feel we should show loyalty regardless of pragmatism... but understand this isn't for everyone. And FWIW, I don't feel he should be above criticism either.
I agree we are going down this season.
I agree no one can save us.
I am happy for CW to stay.
I do find some articles/pieces/comments bewildering as to how great CW is, how it is someone else's fault not his, he's tantamount to being a messiah, etc. Yes, I know he can be a naught (and mardy) boy but he is definitely not a or the messiah!
In my view he shoulders a huge part of any blame as to where the responsibility lies for our present position/predicament.
I also realise we could do with lots more money in the many tens and tens of millions of pounds.
However, I would be interested in anyone's view on which player(s) has been a truly excellent purchase since we were promoted and who has delivered on the pitch.
I can think of not one really outstanding player who has arrived since promotion.
I want all players at the Lane to do well. More than that I want my team to do well - irrespective of who the manager is/what he has done in the past/how long he has been here/where he's from, etc. I like McBurnie and I do not dislike Ramsdale or Brewster. However, McBurnie doesn't score enough, Ramsdale make too many mistakes and Brewster - doesn't score.
That's what they were bought to do. Not grow into their positions, ease themselves into the team and then take on more responsibility.
They were brought in to stop goals, score goals and do what is required in their positions.
There is a lot of talk about the team not being strengthened sufficiently in necessary areas, such as midfield and defence. Why did we not do that in the last close season at the very least?
Someone in the last couple of weeks or so, produced a very interesting graph/plan/schedule or whatever comparing us in this season (so far) with last. There were so many similarities: number (or rather lack) of goals, amount of possession, areas of possession, shots on target, corners, fouls, etc., etc.
Why weren't our shortcomings addressed or is it simply we didn't have enough money and can't pay the going rate for wages? Is that even true? If it is, then perhaps some think we might as well go down because we are never going to sort out the problems in the ever widening gulf between so many in the Premier League with money and the relatively few poorer clubs.
Anyway, what do you think we can keep the score down to, tonight?
