God's country ...... Rovrum!
Rumour on BM that JW has been told by MA he has no future at the club and to go find another!

A number of posts refuting that of course, but itk'er E89 has just been on to confirm it!

Not known whether he'll be off before the deadline or not!

Commons just gone to Celtic.

People earlier on in the month saying Ward to Derby looks like that could now be true.

wont go to derby - they have no money, his wages wont be ridiculously high with us, but dont forget he turned down barnsley after he wanted more money than they'd give him

...to absolutely no outrage whatsoever. From star player to free transfer, what he once was will be missed, what he is now, however, won't.

not been the same player since his injury against the swine many moons ago.
Good riddance.

Was a good impact player when he first joined, looked lively and in ideal player to play in the typical No.10 role, and a possible answer to our goalscoring problems, but since the Wendy game (and even to some extent before the injury) has not been the same, shown the same desire, committment or quality, and is now being shown to be limited by the fact that he is neither i) clinical or instinctive enough to play as a striker ii) never been a genuine winger...

As such what do you do? For me he's been poor for 18 months now, i'd take any fee above £250k and replace him with either a traditional winger or a striker to play alongside bent/ched - maybe they won't have the same potential as ward and it maybe a case of finding a more appropriate player rather than a better one!

Personally theres another few who also fit this category for me, and i'd treat in the same way (surprising how easy united find it to waste resources on utility players rather than specialist players - a couple in a squad are good for cover but we go above and beyond this!), namely Cresswell, Quinn, Ertl, France and similarly Nos (albeit i think thats more down to him not being good enough full stop!)...

Anyway, if he does go, thanks for the memories Wardy, good luck, but for us we have more important worries afoot and can't afford to gamble it on a player who may never quite rediscover the form he once showed!

UTB!!

Oh and Jamie, don't forget to take your pace with you. What's that? You've lost it? No, I don't know where you've left it. I haven't seen it for ages.

Echo what others have said.

Really disappointing to see how his career at the Lane has gone and equally sad that there seems no way back.

Maybe an example of a player who we should possibly have sold when he was at his prime. This in contrast to Mr Walker.

That said, foresight is a fucker.

It would be a real shame to see him leave as he's been my favourite player for some time but admittedly his form has been average at best this season. His goal tally in particular is very disappointing and United cant seem to decide how best to use him. I still think he's a striker and not a wide man.

That said, if we got a decent offer for him I could see the sense in letting him go. Its not quite happening for him, but I think it will elsewhere.

If we'd have sold him in his prime then surely there would have been a furore about us selling our best players. Saying that they'll probably be crap in the future is unlikely to appease anyone.

Cant say im too fussed if he goes.

I would rather spend the money on a proper winger or a CB

We can't afford to be carrying players like Ward IMO.
I understand people will say that we're carrying various others, but, Wards efforts have been terrible for a long time now.
Get him gone!!
UTB

Assuming his pace isn't going to return, and it's not just psychological, his career is only going one way. Sad but true.

Out of interest SCB, I've wondered for a long time who the fans were that were big Ward fans...

I've listened to fans applaud him on and off and rarely seen anything from him to suggest this hero worship.

I've seen a few performances from him, but hero? Not a chance, lets be fair, his goal v the pigs aside, he's done no more than Ched and certainly no more than Cresswell....

Your opinion would be gratefully received

There are always players who become cult figures or 'heroes' for no apparent reason. The most ridiculous one for me was Bruno Ribeiro who like Gus Uhlenbeek gained it because of a chantable name but was absoutely shit at football.

ribeiro was good, just a crock. you really can't stand anyone associated with Leeds can you? ;-)

If Ward goes at this time, I'll be very surprised. Quinn tho: is nailed on. He'll be gone Monday Morning with Le Fondre and a CB being confirmed IN

Le Fondre said yesterday that he intends to see out the remaining 17 months of his contract, as he wont be signing another. Now we know that wont happen, but doesn't look to me like anything imminent is about to take place. There are no reports of a final wave to the crowd. Nothing on the Millers board, as there are one or two itk' ers on there.

Robins was there yesterday and we know he's an admirer and been linked with him, so could be then no ones told him Le Fondres stopping, or not to bother as he's signing for us.

I also feel he's not an MA type of player

Just don't see it happening m8

Latest on Ward from BM poster:

"It did look like Admas wanted to force Wardy out of the club. Its been widely rumoured that he was sent home from training (True) Adams also made him return on his own to catch up with the training he missed.

It does look like he has made a U turn and ward will stay with the Blades at least till the end of the season. As we all know anything can happen tomorrow but thats the latest I have.

It should be an interesting day tomorrow."

mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Yes B58, I am Guzz on BM!

Having a free W/E, I went to the DVS yesterday to see Sheffield's No.3 Club (after SUFC and SPSFC ;) ). The wave that I saw was very much a goodbye wave, a bit like the BT one the Game (he played) before he went. No player claps then waves as he turns to go down the tunnel

It doesnt surprise me to hear these sorts of opinions Swiss because to be fair, they're not without justification. I agree, Wardy has done very little since his goal against the pigs. Whether that is down to the injury or circumstances since....I dont know, but I wouldnt try to argue that he has deserved high praise because he hasnt.

I dont think he has lost any pace or ability as a result of the injury. I just think it threw him off course and he hasnt been able to find the same form since for various reasons. I like Wardy because I think he tries to play with the right intensity and apart from a couple of games recently, he normally has a good work ethic. I think his effort and passion rubs off on the supporters and that is why he is well received.

That said, I havent seen enough from him recently to make me think he is worth holding on to. I say it with regret because I wanted him to do well for the Blades, but I think it would be wise to take a reasonable offer for him (say 250 to 500k).

Thanks SCB, he has showed some of what you say, but for me he's not developed and pushed himself on to the next level.

For example, that first season his finishing was poor and so was his crossing. Yet he's continued to be the corner taker and his finishing is still crap.

Apparently he is off next week.

Not in team at all today.
