Those in here who have said we should be signing players from European Countries

If they're already here, you're ok. Otherwise, yep. Same rules for EU and non-EU.

Has he not seen the news in the last 4 years? Brexit seems to have taken him by surprise.
This is the man caught out by under cover journalists talking about how to get round FA rules whilst drinking a pint of white wine. Him not being the sharpest tool in the shed doesn’t come as that much of a shock.

It’s a bit of a bizarre article. He’s been in the job a couple of weeks and he’s gone straight to the eu to sign players before he really knows his squad’s capabilities.

Its also not impossible to sign from the EU, they just have to meet certain criteria. So perhaps he’s eyeing up pure, raw talent...

So reality is that he’s not missed out, he’s just not been looking at players which meet the criteria, so he’s wasted time and resources

The alternative could be that the players just didn’t want to sign for a bottom 3 side.

I've no idea where he's been looking but it's now easier for South Americans to get work permits, and any player regularly turning out in Germany, Spain, Italy or France is practically certain to get enough points.

More likely some dodgy agent "induced" him to sign no mark Carlos Kickaball, only for them to be to poor to qualify for a work permit.

Isn't allardyce's son an agent? Or is small, fat Sam part of Joorabchians managerial cohort?

Yeah this is an odd thing for Alladyce to say. Not sure things are hugely different to before for top clubs but may affect lower league clubs signing players from respective lower leagues abroad.

Basically means you can't sign players very easily from 2nd tiers of Europen leagues as I understand it?

Surely we'd be signing players from.top European divisions. It also seems it may be easier to sign South Americans?

I am not sure we have the scouting structure to be identifying players from the continent effectively on evidence of the past few years. I definitely thing we need to be upping our game in this regard regardless of some of the changes Brexit may cause. I think covid may potentially cause bigger issues with getting players across than Brexit actually.

Of course we could, this was the failure of scouting.

In reality I prefer to look at it as though we were actually two years ahead of our time

FMBlade1 did a thread about this in 2017 when the club were asked about it

There should be an allowance to sign a player from any country, providing they are paying over '£x' tax per week/month.

Be silly not to generate income from wages paid by foreign Billionaires.
