A genuine question, not for just Blades fans, but football fans in general. There was a time that, if there was a football game on TV I'd watch it, no matter who was playing, I enjoyed watching football as both a neutral, and a fan. Now though I seem to ignore football is even being played, unless we're playing, and even then I don't enjoy it anymore (of course this could be because we haven't won since July). I've turned more SUFC matches off this season than I have in my 28 years watching the game, that speaks a lot for myself.

I used to watch Match of The Day, week in week out no fail just because I love football, but since having no fans, football has felt like a lost cause and I no longer watch MOTD. Does anyone else feel the same way? I feel detatched like never before from the game I grew up loving.

More to the point, could some players in the game be feeling similar things? I look at the table and think, theres been some shocking results, Liverpool 7-2 Aston Villa springs to mind. Southampton being 4th, Everton being 2nd... would this be happening if football was "normal"

My love for this game is gone in its current format. And you?

Only ever watched us tbh.. Alays will but fuck knows why atm.
I tried my best to not notice the kick off time today, but was only successful in missing the first 15 minutes. Been OK so far apart from the predictability. When Ramsdale made that save, my comment was, "not much point when we concede from the corner". And lo...

Thankfully, I have stopped caring and starting to see the funny side of it.

It's simply that United are that bad that I can't bring myself to watch any other football, I've always struggled to watch football when I'm feeling so down about United. It's just so heart breaking at the moment.

Even if there was no Covid and crowds were still at matches I'd still feel the same.

I'm lost for word's just can't watch it anymore I love my blades for the past 49 years but it worse then Robson and atkins at the moment once a blade aways a and I will follow them in any division but it's Time to say Goodbye CWAK do the right thing please always in our hearts don't make us a laughing stock anymore please

I’ve said this a few times now with no decent answer but I’ll ask it again, who for ?

Mine certainly has. I, once again have chosen not to watch this evenings game just like I haven't watched any since the Fulham game, when I knew from then, just how fucked we were.
On a broader platform I agree because of our drab state what's the point in watching others do better and rub our noses in it. MOTD no thanks
This is the most miserable and disenchanted I've been since the Nigels and the cunt Wier
Pass the razor blade mate, that's the only blade I'm interested in this season. Our only glimmer of hope is this new more virulent form of covid spreads like wildfire from here in the south east throughout the country and fucks up everything, causing a null and void season. Clear out the deadwood (that can include Wilder if deemed nec) and rebuild and relaunch.

chris has made mistakes tactic wise and transfer business wise but its not his fault we havent got the finances to bring genuine premier league quality in to the club we cannot afford to be in the premier league fee wise or salary wise its that simple we start again in the championship next season utb fto

Personal i would ask one of two Eddie Howe or Neil Lennon we need fighting spirt at the moment I can't see it Wilder and Knill legends and always will be but has you know to become a legend this must come to a end

I’ve only bothered about United....and the division they play in.

Last season was the 1st time in 30 years that I started watching Match of the Day again.
First time in years that I showed a major interest in domestic top flight football.
However I have Virginmedia and no Sky....so my main interest has always been Champions League over PL....the Euro games come free with Virginmedia.

The problem now is that any manager with any sort of reputation won't want to take us on, it's a guaranteed relegation on your CV.

Wilder should’ve been sacked after West Brom, he’d had his chance this season and failed, it was obvious that results weren’t going to get any better.

Yes blade you will not see me arguing with you on that point just feeling we have been too slow to get it sorted out sentiment and football do not go together mate 👍

Exactly the same. Not just cos we're currently crap but just the game as a whole. I used to watch any game that was on TV, even Scottish (but not womens, I draw the line at that!), but now it's just lost it's way. VAR, soft foreign tactics of diving/cheating/fucking finger wagging, politics etc, all have played a part in ruining it. I'm losing the love. I will always watch us tho, no matter how shit we are.

Fucking drained after that ,thought we had a few decent chances to get ball in box in last 10 mins ....JUST GET THE BÀSTARD BALL IN BOX

Shite...can’t watch whilst theres no connection with the fans...it’s just not football.

Ask Leeds fans, ask Villa fans, ask Everton fans, ask Lincoln City fans...they'll tell you something different.

Obviously the.game sn't the same without us being able to be there and watching on TV without fans is like watching a pre season friendly...BUT...a lot of what we are feeling is down to our form and official.positon as premier league laughing stock

My love for United & for the game remains the same as ever. I sort of knew from the outset of Project Restart that it wasn't for me. I'm amazed at the amount of emotional investment (via Social Media & Forums) that some Blades seem to have in the current Pretend Football. I won't be critical of those Blades. It's their choice. But, made for TV, behind closed doors, crowd piped in, Tuesday 4pm kick off, nurse with a snot riddled cotton bud can pick the team, here today, same shit in three days time, disposable, fast fashion, Ersatz Football - it's a different sport. It's PLINO. Premier League In Name Only. How do we know Ramsdale is 3/10? He hasn't played a real game yet. McBurnie might be superb once he plays in a real game. Sack Wilder? Why the fuck would you do that in the middle of some exhibition games, waiting for the real stuff. I empathise with the OP. Heartfelt sentiments.

But, I'll see the Blades again in months or years when real football starts again. I won't fret about the current circus. It doesn't matter to me.

Football is mothballed. My love for United & football is mothballed.

That’s a shame but hopefully there’s a silver lining in that you cut out the “l’m ITK “ crap.

If we were winning I'd be enjoying footie a whole lot more, but even when we were getting some wins at the end of last season, it wasn't the same.
I used to enjoy watching other teams matches too.

Without fans, it comes across very hollow, a bunch of no doubt skilled, but overpaid players (I don't blame them, I'd do the job if I could...!)....and media companies building it up as is it hasn't changed....https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MusyO7J2inM

Will always be a blade , that's how it is , regardless of what division we are in. Trying to brainwash my 5 year old as well so I can take him when I finally hang my boots up.

Can agree with some of the comments here though regarding the current situation. Said to the missus the other day while we were watching a game , a lot of matches to me look like pre season games.im sure the intensity isn't the same in games and also the players maybe aren't as fit.

Also Im getting well pissed off with players going down like they have been shot when opponents down simply brush past them. The game is being run and officiated by people who have never played at a decent level imo.

I was going to write a big long post but tl;dr, I can't be fucked with it.

Without any fans in attendance it may aswell be Lys Mousset playing on his PlayStation for me.

I want us to do well still obviously but I'm not letting it get to me that we're shite. This isn't the same football I've experienced for the first 29 years of my life.

Casually keeping an eye on United currently. As for the rest, outside of the family fantasy football I couldn't give a toss about them.

I'm thankful though that we got to celebrate promotion and attend most of a season of bells and whistles Premier League football when we were decent because it seems a long way off being like that again.

Leeds fans have really been shafted. Couldn't celebrate promotion, or getting back to the Prem after so long.

I can't keep watching football on TV forever especially with no fans there.

It was gutting not being there to watch us defeat Spurs, Chelsea and Wolves last season.

Totally gone i dont watch any games now its dire the only football I enjoy now is watching my u12 team i coach

It's the lack of fans that highlights my lack of interest for watching the other games outside Leicester/Sheffield United.

The Old Firm Celtic v Rangers is always my favourite game to watch in world football, because of the atmosphere. Now i'm not really interested in watching it.

I’m in complete agreement in terms of the love for football disappearing and it’s got nothing to do with United’s current travails.

I used to watch any football I could and it was the emotion of the partisan fans that makes it enjoyable as a neutral (bugger all to do with the actual quality of the football). There’s no better sight than one end of Wembley erupting after a cup final or playoff winning goal (unless it’s Burnley, Huddersfield or Palace) and one of my favourite non-United highlights is Jimmy Glass scoring to save Carlisle and the palpable relief in the ensuing pitch invasion (and the ref getting flattened!). We’ve got none of that at the moment.

Football without fans is shit but your (and my) love for the game will come back quickly as soon as fans are allowed back in.

I've fallen out of love with it and I was well on my way last season, us in the championship however might cure that as my biggest issues are with the PL and its rules. The thing is I love football and United but its still entertainment, and its no longer entertaining.

I hate the constant VAR, the constant bollocks spouted by managers and pundits, I hate every match involving stats "so and so ran 3 miles last match " who cares?

I haven't watched United for a while now, properly, something always pulls me back and I start watching but I quickly turn my attention to other things. I've been a United fan most of my life (I liked Man U before I was 10) and over them 20 years I've witnessed the ups and downs as I'm sure you all have. I'm prepared to go through the bad times with the team but I'm not going to put myself through it if the team can't even be arsed to at least attempt to play.

And yet I'm sure ill turn the bloody Palace match on and get annoyed.

Football is currently just a bunch of friendly games. How many “proper” tackles do we see compared to usual seasons?

That’s what has done for us.
