He is the best striker, everything considered, at the club. All wonderful waffle. I’m sure someone’s interested. If only it were relevant here.
None of it adds to the point that he didn’t merit a new 2 year premier league contract at 33, and his wife should be happy.
But you keep on adding to your thousands of posts obsessing about our strikers.
“Ageist”. Fuck me, now playing the WOKE card. Why would he not get an improved contract ?
The club had a 1 year option. They chose to extend it for a further year based on a sequence of solid performances (in the PL funnily enough!) just before lock down kicked in. The improved contract was earned and deserved. Other solid performers were awarded the same improved contracts. No issues there at all.
There is an ageist attitude on this forum that is as uncomfortable as it is inaccurate.
When player X reaches age Y, that’s it. Has to be put out to pasture or shot in the head and it’s no fucking good any longer.
As I say, our best all round #9 is being short changed (again) and this has fuck all to do with his contract situation.
A strap line so frequently peddled and yet so misguided !

Your obsession with Sharp is frankly creepy. He is the best striker, everything considered, at the club.

Isn’t it?Your obsession with Sharp is frankly creepy.
I'm taking the piss calling him Steven but maybe he really is.Isn’t it?
You’re right. We shouldn’t extend contracts to players over a certain age. They have no resale value so what’s the point eh ?!He is the best striker, everything considered, at the club.
“Ageist”. Fuck me, now playing the WOKE card.
Players peak in their 20’s, and quickly decline towards their mid thirties. That’s biology, not ageism for fucks sake.
But you might have at least argued that point (that you consider Sharp worthy of 2 years at 33) in the first place, rather than making up a line that my questioning of Sharp’s contract had been an ongoing theme of mine, or in some way excuses the other strikers for their shortcomings.
maybe your point was about contracts?
Why should Sharp have more minutes ? If we were getting a lot of balls into the box then you might have a point but we are not and chasing balls down the channel isn't his strong point either. Time to face it at 34 he will only ever be on as a sub otherwise we really are fucked.Sharp has something to offer. I’m adamant about that. Wilder has previous form in short changing the lad.
Fleck is, technically, our best player. Ask the players. He is not in good form presently, but as they say, class is permanent !!
The wife’s should keep shtumm but when players in their positions (Sharp mostly as Os did OK) are emphatically not doing it, then it’s understandable that frustrations will kick in.
Sharp in particular should have had more minutes thus far. Wilder has been blindsided by transfer fees paid I am afraid !

Alright sparky. I’ll bite.maybe my point was about contracts? Errrrm....
“Billy Sharp was, mind bogglingly, given a fat new 2 year premier league contract at 33 years old. He has (perhaps fairly) capitalised on former glory, rather than it being in the best interests of the club.”
Points make prizes fella. Why should Sharp have more minutes ? I’ve just plain vanilla lost it, as you state.
The answer to that might come as a wee bit of a surprise. Top end Championship clubs too.If we put Sharp on the list tomorrow how many PL clubs would be in for him?
Agree that your “mind bogglingly” and “has been Shyte FACT” comments were seriously wide of the mark ?At last, we can finally agree.![]()
If any PL club came in it would be more than a ‘wee surprise’ to me. I can see top end championship clubs coming in for him to “get them over the line”.The answer to that might come as a wee bit of a surprise. Top end Championship clubs too.
Could the same be said for some of our other offensive players ?

It patently does when he is being overlooked for woefully inept, injured, pain killing injected poor excuses for a CF.If any PL club came in it would be more than a ‘wee surprise’ to me. I can see top end championship clubs coming in for him to “get them over the line”.
Whether you can say the same about our other strikers has no relevance to the assessment of Sharp’s ability.
The fact that McBurnie isn’t good enough doesn’t make Sharp a better player. McB is in the side for his aerial ability so he’s not keeping Sharp out of the team. I don’t think Sharp is good enough for the PL, he’d be far better in a top championship side who’ll create regular chances for him. That’s my opinion and shouting slogans at me isn’t going to change that.It patently does when he is being overlooked for woefully inept, injured, pain killing injected poor excuses for a CF.
Patently so if you have the best interests of YOUR club at heart that is !!!!

You lost count of the amount of “gilt edged” chances we have created and passed up ?You have a point stick him in another team which have creative players around him (which we do not at the moment) and he will score goals.
If we put Sharp on the list tomorrow how many PL clubs would be in for him?
I'm assuming you're related to Billy in some way.... otherwise your overall obsession with him is a little worrying mateThe answer to that might come as a wee bit of a surprise. Top end Championship clubs too.

More worrying than 2 points from 54 ??I'm assuming you're related to Billy in some way.... otherwise your overall obsession with him is a little worrying mate
I bet you more clubs ( not necessarily premiership ) would come in for Billy than Brewster. If we put Sharp on the list tomorrow how many PL clubs would be in for him?
Good post, both him and Sharp have know one to blame but themselves.Flecks missus is probably scared she can't keep up her Colleen Rooney lifestyle if he drops outta the Premiership.
I'm fuming with Fleck, he was litterally my favourite player and he's completely lost the plot, his missus can fuck right off if she's blaming anyone but John for his pathetic recent performances.
