I don't have any answers, and of course confidence is a massive issue in football (and life). But I don't buy the we need some more luck argument either,
we are simply not good enough. We don't have a good enough squad to compete in this division. We could try and gamble in January, but i'm not sure what difference it will make.

For us to stay up now, 2 things need to happen:

1. We need to start winning games.
2: Other teams around us need to get basically no points.

Neither of those seem likely.
It's not over til it's over but we have managed to fall further behind today now as Fulham drew with Southampton.

As we are so bereft of ideas, ability, a game plan, leadership and belief amongst other things, added to which we make poor decision making on and off the pitch, etc., we are down.

Someone said this earlier, I see no reason to believe once next season starts we will get it together and bounce back to the Premier League. The dross we are rolling out now in game after game could easily continue next season. Whoever is the manager.

Everything about the club is just so rotten.

Wish we could end the season now and start as a clean slate.
 
It’s pointless getting rid of Wilder now. Nobody on God’s earth can stop this listing ship from going down. We’ve left it too late. We simply haven’t got the players, the time or the money to rescue this season. I’m sorry to say it, but the journey for this bunch of “journeyman” is over. We need to let Wilder school his young acquisitions away from the glare of the unforgiving Premier League.
 
Unfortunately United have fallen into a Transfer Value Trap.
Paying over the odds for Players that no other Premiership Club wanted.
We can only have one more loanee, and the squad is wafer thin.

That is the bigger problem for sure. If we go down with less than 10 points, we would be a laughing stock and it would take a monumental shift to turn us around for a good crack at the Championship.

It's going to be a painful time I suspect, especially Wilder as he loves this club and has done an unbelievable job til now.
 
I don’t think they’ll need to sack him as I can see him walking soon, sadly.

We’ll end up with Van Winkle for 5 months and limp towards an uninspiring appointment during the summer.

My only hope now is that we can loan a few players to get us up around the 20 point mark, to make it respectable?

He knows the players and knows the Prince so has some inside knowledge about what is required depending what league we are in.

He can be the steadying hand whilst we try to navigate our way out of this complete embarrassment of a season. And either hand over to a new man or be the man for next season.
 
Problem with keeping wilder for next season is will he have the heart and determination after what will probably be the most humiliating season of his career. Not many players/mangers recover from that, look at paul jewel at derby when they went down with the lowest points total ever. Where is he now!!!

some of the players he has recruited can obviously play but i've said it before, he is stubborn and resorts back to what he believes in (hence the return of the mighty MCBurnue tonight). Bogle deserved to be involved tonight, at least through a substitution but no....he can't see it!!!!!!
 



Who are the most vital players in our success over the last 3 years? Hard to place, I admit. However, I personally believe it’s been:

oconnell
Basham
Norwood

in that order.

Losing JOC for the season and that Norwood has forgotten how to football is not the fault of the manager. Some blame can be laid at his door (honestly what pisses me off so much is his obsession with Lundstram) but I still think he’s the best man to get us up. He went for 3-4-1-2 today as we have all called for - best players in best positions (considering what we have) - and we were still shit. Got to just accept our players aren’t reyt good and it needs freshening up.

Our first 11 next year needs: Egan, Basham, Baldock, Stevens, Fleck as I don’t believe we will be able to improve on those in the champ. I just think we need to redesign what we are and play to it. Let’s say our 4 strikers are: OMc, Brewster, Burke and Didsy, we need to play to their strengths. That to me is crying out for a more direct/ counter attack style and we should try set up as such IMO.

Thatvis irrelevant. It is what is happening now and at best we look like a lower championship team

listening to him on bt just now i reckon he could offer his resignation tonight far too many championship players that are not good enough for the premier league

McCabe wouldn't have sold to a new rich owner. He failed to sell to anyone despite supposedly actively trying for years

When you start blaming the players you're failing as a manager... Reminded me of Robson's classic the players aren't as good as I thought they were line... The difference this time being wilder hasn't inherited them he's spunked millions on the useless twats...

he wasnt even planning on selling his whole stake to them either. McCabes problem was he massively overvalued us and didn't want to take the hit. I'd he won the court case he would have pocketed more of the Premier league money, no way does he leave when we actually turn a profit.

In my opinion the Prince would be more likely to have the contacts and willingness to let us go.

Perhaps you're right, what I do know is that the Prince hasn't got the money to be a PL owner.
 



The team, the system, the back room staff, the new training ground, the recruitment of younger players... it’s all part of Wilder and the Prince’s long term vision.

We’re currently playing without our mainstays and record signing week in week out and by no means disgracing ourselves.

Our wage budget is so far out of its depth in this league, with the big bulk being paid to JOC, Fleck, Berge who are all injured. In essence it’s a championship squad.

Bearing in mind all of the above and the current state of our squad, can anyone please explain to me how hiring a new manager would help us long term.

If you answer that, can you also tell me the managers name to replace him and explain exactly how this will help.
