My nan -she's 95 in March 2020, born in the year we last won the FA cup and still sharp as they come. WW2 took her to London where she me married my Arsenal mad Grandad, but she took him back to Sheffield with her 4 year old boy (my dad). She was born a into a Wendy family but she took a shine to the Blades and took my dad to the Lane as a young un, I thanked her today (as I do every time I see her) for the legacy she has created and the joy she has brought to her grandson. She told me earlier that the best player she saw was Currie but he wouldn't get in our team today, I said are u sure, she said yes, too lazy for Wilder's team. Who am I to argue with a legend like my nan.

Boxer she had MOTD on when I went round, she's got them all on record. She asks how the girls are and then just goes into Blades mode, 95 and she's buzzing pal. She lost my Grandad in 1990 and my paps passed last year but she's unbelievable. In awe pal, hope i'm the same if I get to her age.

She's in good health thanks. She's gutted that the family can't all meet up and go for Sunday lunch etc but she's in good spirits. Must admit we aren't agreeing about the Blades right now, I think we are as good as down she says Wilder will turn it around and we have been very unlucky in a lot of games. Hope she's right, she usually is.

If either of the speculations from your dad or Bruce Wayne’s nan were accurate , then it would say more about Dave Bassett and Chris Wilder than TC himself .

I don’t believe for one moment that they are accurate for the simple reason that on a good day , and there were many of them , Tony Currie was so breathtakingly good that any manager who would not have him in their side would have to be an absolute moron , which is certainly not the case with DB and CW .

As to the oft repeated myth that he was lazy ,nothing could be further from the truth . He would often be found in our own box getting in blocks and tackles ( or even nutmegs ! ) and then carry the ball forward , deliver a sublime pass and then be at the other end to knock in a goal , an aspect of his game which is often overlooked .

At least said Nan and Dad didn’t throw in the the hoary old myth “ He wasn’t fit to lace Hagan’s boots .”

I watched both of them many times and would not like to choose between them and nor would I want to . Both were footballing geniuses but in a slightly different way .

It's been a perpetual myth that TC was lazy. Ironically, the goal that he most well known for, "a quality goal by a quality player", starts with him tackling and winning the ball in our half.

Yeah I was at the Watford game plod threatened to make us go in the ground with no boots on in the end they made us take the laces out of our dockers and read us the riot act no knees up mother brown etc. Of course the first song inside the ground was knees up mother brown
