There is clearly a big gulf between Premiership and Championship. If proof were needed look at the Championship table showing how the relegated sides are doing. Bournemouth lost some excellent players, Pukki scoring for fun!

What this shows is that with a quality manager like Chris at the helm we will have a really good shot at returning should the worse happen. I hope the Prince sticks to his word and keeps the best manager we have had for decades.

Hi, Stegosaurus here,

None of them were as wank as us, though. We're gonna finish on single digits this season. We might actually not even get more than five...
Let's be honest--the only reason we're on one is because of a dodgy penalty decision.
Last season they were all more wank than us.

This season they are playing the likes of Wednesday, Wycombe et al.

What about the other clubs that are currently in the Championship, League One and League Two that were relegation from the Premier League in the last 20 years?

We won't break Derby's record.

It doesn't show that. None of those teams were as bad as we are now.
We're the worst team in PL history. Nothing about us suggests we're going to bounce straight back up. I don't even think our current side would get play offs

Agreed. Favourable run of fixtures coming up once we've got le scum out of the way.

Brighton, Palace, Newcastle, Burnley all potential avenues for points.

Plus we're going to beat Ole Gunnar Sasquatch's mob anyway, I can feel it

How much would we love a player like cantwell, or bundia brooks or any of Watford’s attacking players.

We are behind at least half of the championship in terms of creativity. If that’s not addressed we will not score anywhere near enough to go up. And our defence is substantially worse than it was when we can up with no hendo.

not to mention the relegation hangover if we continue to fail to compete at this level - the other 3 sides were at least competitive in getting relegated

So we could be on 19pts by mid Jan then?

All three relegated are doing well at the moment but to say there's a void between leagues is laughable. It's not like they're all 10 points clear of anyone else. It's a tight division at the top. There's no guarantee any of them will come back up.

Favourable run of fixtures? I wouldn't fancy us to beat Wednesday at the minute!

what makes you think we can get any points. Baring in mind we have played Leeds, West Brom, Fulham, A Villa

What if..... We go down, do well in the championship, 5-3-2, sharp as top scorer and Norwood plays every game, we get promoted. We face the same problems again as this season. It feels like we need to go down and then rebuild the squad/tactics. So might take a while.

I totally agree with the OP that the gulf between Premier and Championship is ever increasing in terms of quality of football. I've watched many a Championship game this season and you wouldn't be at fault for thinking you were were watching league 1 or even 2. the Championship is now far weaker and should we get relegated I believe under the Prince and CWAK'S guidance we would be in good hands to bounce straight back at the first attempt.
Although CW made the mistake of buying for the future and not for today, we would have a very solid team.
Rammer
JOC ( who I'm sure will stick with us next year)
Egan
Bash
Baldock
Lowe (who will be a year older and wiser)
Bogle (ditto)
RND (ditto)
Brewster ( more than proven at Champ level)
McBurnie (ditto)
Burke
Moose (who could tear most champ defences apart)
The above 4 supported by Billy and McG as and when required

The only area to be greatly improved upon would be midfield where I'm sure Chris is clearly aware
I can't see how the above squad would struggle below top two next season.

Sounds great to me.

Can someone please order another Ice age and wipe this fucker off the planet !!!

I think the username is quite apt personally he’s picked a dinosaur which had one of the smallest brain to body size ratio.

I agree we have a very young and decent core coming together especially in the champ. We’d need to add 2 young centrebacks though one as medium-long term successor to bash and another who is actually good enough to challenge JOC and Egan.

Seem to recall Wilder does poorly against Bruce. Only win I recall was that brilliant display v Villa.

i think 1 of those 2 might go then maybe back in for lenihan at blackburn although bryan or robinson might be good enough for the championship and were definetly gonna need 2 more midfielders especially if sander and lundstrum depart

Then we’d need 3 centrebacks minimum. Personally I’d want both robinson and Bryan our as we’d hypothetically be building for a prem return and they’ve proven to be not good enough at this level so I’d want to build a group of players who could be rather than players we know aren’t. We probably need at least 3 in midfield aswell and if either Berge or fleck leaves then we need more.
