Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth

if brewster stays which i think he will i reckon mousset will go back to france goldie and sharpy have just about done and burkes not a natural striker so can see 2 more strikers coming in definetly 2 midfielders but will be interesting to see how chris reshapes the side at least we will be in a league where we can compete on the pitch and off it financially

We probably need at least 3 in midfield aswell and if either Berge or fleck leaves then we need more.

I doubt anybody would want Fleck in the form he has been in for the last 6 months
I would have taken the £20m for him when Arsenal were alledegly interested in him

There is clearly a big gulf between Premiership and Championship. If proof were needed look at the Championship table showing how the relegated sides are doing. Bournemouth lost some excellent players, Pukki scoring for fun!

What this shows is that with a quality manager like Chris at the helm we will have a really good shot at returning should the worse happen. I hope the Prince sticks to his word and keeps the best manager we have had for decades.

Not on the back of the worst points tally in premier league history and a squad with no confidence
Your in dream land bro

I agree I don’t anticipate us losing many tbh O’Connell was out most saleable asset but teams won’t move big money on him till he’s proved his fitness. I think Baldock might attract some interest.

We aren't competing for promotion if we go down with less than 15-20 points. Any club who has gone down with a tally like that has struggled the year after. None of them have been close to promotion the year after. In fact they usually struggle to stay up in the Championship

Still clinging to the hope that we’ll start to show some grit soon and pick up a few points tbh.

Blackburn are currently 11th in the Championship on 28 points from 19 games. They've scored 34, conceded 23.

I genuinely think they'd beat this current United team, based on the last 2 performances. And I think it would be comfortable

I understand what you're saying Roygbiv, but let's see how many points we finish the season with. I'm still confident we can get well over the 20 points you mention. I may be shot down in flames, but still hopefull we can escape relegation, although that confidence is slowly diminishing after each game that goes by.

How much would we love a player like cantwell, or bundia brooks or any of Watford’s attacking players.

We are behind at least half of the championship in terms of creativity. If that’s not addressed we will not score anywhere near enough to go up. And our defence is substantially worse than it was when we can up with no hendo.

not to mention the relegation hangover if we continue to fail to compete at this level - the other 3 sides were at least competitive in getting relegated
Laughable. Only in S2. The team we have is 10x better than the team that came up. Mcburnie scored 24 for Swansea up front on his own. Brewster scored once every 2 games for Swansea. The mouss would also fill his boots against the chumps in the championship. Norwood? Very short memories amongst our fan base. Very short. The management have been there and done on buttons. This time they will be armed with more cash than all but the other 2 who come down with us. Comical.

It doesn't show that. None of those teams were as bad as we are now.
We're the worst team in PL history. Nothing about us suggests we're going to bounce straight back up. I don't even think our current side would get play offs
Norwichs final 11 prem games....

1 point.

I mean is it?? Take hendo and JOC out of it that promotion side and we are one 1 point. Hand on heart how many championship sides would get more than 1 point in 15 games. It’s more than 6 imo. I’d say at least half .

We ‘might’ have better strikers than last time but we are yet to see consistent quality from any of them. We are yet to see that they fit our system in the way mcgoldrick and sharp did in the promotion season.

But the biggest concern is we don’t have a Duffy. We don’t have ANY midfield creativity - who’s going to unlock a door for us? Who’s a match winner? We just don’t have it in us to score enough goals, as we currently stand.

Wilder might sort that out next season, but that is our biggest issue, and will be an Achilles heel when teams shut up shot against us, as a ‘bigger’ side again. Is it 4 goals from open play in 15 games.

That would almost be my sole focus in the summer, that and replacing the players who might leave (JoC, berge and Egan - can see getting offers to stay in the PL)

we havent got strikers for the premier league but weve definetly got them that will score plenty in the championship its the supply line that concerns me think we need a major change in tactics and personell at least 2 possibly 3 midfielders needed fleck berge and lundstrum will go for a kick off norwood will probably do us one more season but your right we need a creative and a goalscoring midfielder for starters

What if..... We go down, do well in the championship, 5-3-2, sharp as top scorer and Norwood plays every game, we get promoted. We face the same problems again as this season. It feels like we need to go down and then rebuild the squad/tactics. So might take a while.
Absolutely bang on.
I totally agree with the OP that the gulf between Premier and Championship is ever increasing in terms of quality of football. I've watched many a Championship game this season and you wouldn't be at fault for thinking you were were watching league 1 or even 2. the Championship is now far weaker and should we get relegated I believe under the Prince and CWAK'S guidance we would be in good hands to bounce straight back at the first attempt.
Although CW made the mistake of buying for the future and not for today, we would have a very solid team.
Rammer
JOC ( who I'm sure will stick with us next year)
Egan
Bash
Baldock
Lowe (who will be a year older and wiser)
Bogle (ditto)
RND (ditto)
Brewster ( more than proven at Champ level)
McBurnie (ditto)
Burke
Moose (who could tear most champ defences apart)
The above 4 supported by Billy and McG as and when required

The only area to be greatly improved upon would be midfield where I'm sure Chris is clearly aware
I can't see how the above squad would struggle below top two next season.
Yeah you got me all excited for relegation now ya fucker. Who up for another trophy fellow Blades? 👍

So the very same management team that brought us up from the championship the last time, having less than on a packet of broken biscuits from the castle market, couldn’t get this squad up? We only lose JoC & Berge tops. Mcgoldrick in the 10 role at home. Burke in the 10 role away. That’s before CWAK poach the cream of the crop from the EFL. Or van winckle uses his contacts in Belgium/France. Again, only in S2, could we look at shitty Norwich, who finished 33 points below us last season, lose their best players, and yet still rip the said league a new arsehole, berate our chances of coming straight back up. God give me strength!

TBH we are quite alot worse than Norwich were last season. And have others have posted no one has as gargantually as wank of a season we are about to have and magically becomes full of confidence and capable of stringing more then two passes together over a short amount of time. Agree with you on our finances following relegation though hopefully we can nab some foreign gems and steal top champ players to make our footballing rehab go faster.

We finished with more than 33 points above Norwich FFS!

The past is in the past. We are on course to finish with considerably less points then Norwich had last season. With an older, slower and somehow lower quality squad.

Hi, Stegosaurus here,

None of them were as wank as us, though. We're gonna finish on single digits this season. We might actually not even get more than five...
Let's be honest--the only reason we're on one is because of a dodgy penalty decision.
Stego take your sore arse elsewhere

There is clearly a massive gulf between the premier league and championship. We were not good enough for the Prem last season and were relegated. You got lucky last season and have found your true level this, ie notgood enough. If Norwich go up we will come back down again. the best we can hope for is a boing boing existence. Frankly you have to change your expectations of what is realistic. You are a middle size club and I can easily count the number of seasons you have spent in the top league on my six fingered hand since the mid 70, with fingers to spare. We have spent many more than you and still understand we will yo yo at best between the two. They are the harsh realities unless you get a sugar daddy owner Prepared to throw in silly money, and that comes with risks and downsides.

Being a yo yo club on the face of it isn’t that bad. But I fear the manner of our collapse this season could be more alarming than even we could imagine. Norwich’s surrender last season seemed to be lot more controlled. We look more like a runaway train heading towards broken down bridge.
