Lunny Norwood Fleck

A player wanting away is normally the death knell for their career under Wilder. A player not working hard enough under Wilder usually means a place on the bench at best. Someone who’s form has dipped so badly this season would normally be rested. Yet one way or another these three are playing or brought back at the first chance. Is it blindness on Wilders part or does it show how limited his options are? Osborn must wonder what he’s done wrong for example. Baldock never stops running but has to watch two so called stars and a greedy bloke who believes he far better than he’s showing stroll around the pitch achieving next to nothing game after game. We’ll see Norwood back soon as Wilder continues tinkering with the central midfield three who show no passion and are easily bullied or played around by the opposition. But let’s blame McBurnie, Lowe, Bryan, Brewster, Robinson etc whilst the supposed engine room of the team tosses it off week in week out.

To me, its clear to see that the midfield (or lack of one) has been our achilles heel all season. You only have to look at the possession stats each week which shows that as a team we don't have the ball anywhere near enough. That puts enormous pressure on our defence week on week out and at the moment it just isn't good enough to hold out at PL level.

Like most, I've been a huge CW fan, but even couldn't work out why he didn't bring in a couple of midfield players in the summer, Lundstram contract issue, Besic gone back, Freeman out to Forest on loan, etc. The numbers were down in that area and it needed a couple more in. Still does.

Lunstrum should be nowhere near the first team he dunt want to sign a new contract=dunt want to play for us.
The sooner he fucks off the better.
No it doesn't. Show me where he has said he doesn't want to be here. He is after a deal that he feels befits his merit to the team. He and the manager can't agree on that deal.

If we were going to sign Wilshere we wouldn't need to wait til January to do it.

At least going back to something that worked in the past would be better than repeatedly trying the same things that definitely don't work.
i think you have to name a 25 man squad? And can only review it in January? We named 25 so Wilshere wouldnt be eligible for prem.

There are two weeks until January anyway, let's get him in on trial for those two weeks and give him a medical and arrange some reserve friendlies. If all good start negotiations so he is ready to go in January for the rest of the season on a 'fee payed per game' to see if he can make it back into the England squad.

"When there is a relegation battle, teams want to nick a point and stay up, nick a goal and try and defend. That’s not the type of player I am." - Jack Wilshere

Yes that's an excellent quote, was aware he said that. However he hasn't got a club and we need to change the way we play.

I'd certainly have a half fit version of him over Fleck, Norwood or Lunny.

Allardyce and Wilshere. Christ almighty.

Yep, not one club in England has decided to take a punt on him, tells you all you need to know

He won't want to play in the Championship or lower, fair enough. As for the Prem, there isn't really another team who he would start for apart from us.

Anyway I don't think it'll happen, but Wilder is certainly wrong when he says that 'the players in the building are good enough'

Wilshire is living off a decent game against Barca (which I think I’m right that arsenal still lost) a decade ago.

we have multiple problems with the team, squad and they way we are playing. Not sure he solves any of them.

If he really wanted to play then he’d play anywhere. His recent performances in the Prem have shown he isn’t really up to that standard any more as well. Either way, he doesn’t appear to have a queue of clubs lining up to take him on, does he?

What good is a midfield consisting of anyone if Rammers goal kicks are sailing 50 foot above their heads?. Surely you need fast strong midfielders up and around McBernie for the flick on. Lunny is probably all we have and maybe Burke that could play that way as there big and strong, Fleck and Oli are too small to play that way. That said you can hear wilder on the sidelines with no crowd noise just shouting clear it rammers all throughout the game. Our midfield sit in and so are not effective in a long ball game and are nowhere near McBernie when he flicks the ball on.

2 weeks would give us time to get a fag machine installed at Shirecliffe as well 👍

Fleck doesn't look the same player to me. Going through the motions, always looking to slow things down instead of that 5 yard drive he does so well. As limited a creative player Osborn is he at least gives us some drive and energy down the left.
Lunny has to start on the right, and then maybe Berge in the middle.

IMO Norwood’s good at spraying it around this season we’re not getting forward enough so he’d be spraying it in our own half I honestly think we need an extra body in midfield (more than 3) to bulk it up as that’s the engine room and it gets bypassed most games so if we put and extra person in their to retain it better I think it’d be an improvement

Berge will become a world class player but he's not that yet I like the idea of two holding midfielders in berge and Norwood but currently I would go back to what has served us well - Norwood Lunny Fleck they know each other and the system

Don’t think with the players available we can go 5-3-2 anymore, so I’m going 4-1-4-1 for Man Utd.
Brewster
Burke Fleck Berge Bogle
Ampadu
Stevens Jags Egan Baldock
Ramsdale

After Sunday's performance if Berge, Ampadu and Jags are in the same starting XI again then it truly is all over...

Fleck and Berge have never played well together, Berge has never looked that great in Norwood's spot either, but although I'm fine with dropping Berge and would happily drive Ampadu back to Chelsea, I'm not sure Norwood or Fleck have done anything to deserve a place either, leaving a half-arsed Lundstram as our only credible midfield option.

Maybe its time to dig up Rodwell, if we can give jags and Bryan a go, why not
And that, my friend, has perfectly summed up our midfield ..... 12 games into the season.

So basically, our entire midfield (if we are counting Baldock as a defender) has been shit.

Come to think of it Mcburnie and Burke have probably been our most effective front pairing. This makes me sad.
Demerit for this though, whoever you chose it really has to have McGoldrick in it.

So who do you replace them with?

At the risk of being obtuse and avoiding the question - if Tufty doesn't know, I'm fucked if I do!

All I know is, one of the big areas we're struggling is athleticism, agility, energy and downright lung busting effort. None of them three tick any of those boxes.

As Mike Bassett as it sounds, I'd be tempted to go with the best athletes we have. We might not improve with the ball, but at least out of possession we might stand half a chance!!

Ramsdale
Baldock Basham Egan Bryan Stevens
Lundstram Norwood Fleck
McBurnie Brewster

Give this team 10 games to find some form, and stop the chopping/changing every week
