Why is it the Prince's fault about the wage cap? It's wilder being a warnock number 2 if anything
We don't have the money to pay higher wages, it's not Wilder that decides budgets etc, he spends the money he's given, pretty sure that's how it works at every other club too? Not many managers buy and pay their players themselves do they!??

We have a transfer committee which dictates the wage structure, budget, and profile of players we target. Wilder seems to have the casting vote but has to work within the parameters dictated by the whole committee. From what I can gather there were attempts to dilute the managers role when Van Winkel first came in, but Wilder won that battle when we were still in the Championship. Thus Wilder takes the majority of credit/blame for successful signings, but not all, as the wider committee will draw up targets and dictate the financial parameters and the general profile of player targeted.

Yeah simply playing the numbers it should be a relative hotbed of talent now granted football will always play second fiddle to cricket but you’d think there would still be a fairly steady production line of talent given the right infrastructure but the same could’ve been said of China and it’s yet to really bare fruit.
I did a bit of work in India a few years ago and was speaking to people there about playing football. The consensus was that it's too hot to be running around for that length of time and they much preferred playing cricket. They do love watching football though, so this link may be more commercially minded.

"Will draw up targets and DICTATE THE FINANCIAL PARAMETERS", and the man at the top that signs it all off is.............
Advisors, advise, the decision is ultimately made by the money man, owner.
Same in a majority of business, unless the board have the overall power obviously, which I'm not sure is the case here?

Being as most of the money coming into the club is earned by the club, i.e. TV money, it's perfectly possible that the Prince doesn't have the sort of control you think he has. As owner he can change that situation at any time, but if he's handed over responsibility to the committee and told them to deal with it themselves, then he's currently not the man to blame. (If blame is the right word).
Not saying I know anything, just my musings.

It's a Sheffield thing
They're convinced that players coming in on more money will upset the players already here.

There's very little evidence of this when the number of players over the last 50 years on different contracts at all the clubs in the world are taken into account.

There's an odd Di Canio and Forestieri out there but considering the hundreds of thousands of new contracts offered to footballers over the years the rebellious footballer is a miniscule percentage of this amount.

Their usually foreign flair players anyway, so we won't be having any of that sort of trouble.

I'd agree, but it's not like we've not been spending cash.

Not even sure it would be a good idea to chuck cash at new players in January given the probability of where we'll be next season.

I think this is more the Prince wanting to buy clubs around the world, rather that furnish us with opportunities to buy players from said countries.
I think he’s found finance. He’s obviously had to borrow money to buy BL etc and maybe he’s now being offered the opportunity to borrow more money. Big finance can be a bit crazy, bankers make money by loaning and if you’re a “face”, a credible personality it can become quite easy to get big loans. The most extreme cases I’m aware of are in the book “Breakfast with Anglo” where a property developer, Simon Kelly, was having money thrown at him during Ireland’s boom. I’m aware of similar things with some of my clients. I suspect that with his business track record, his ownership of two clubs and his background/connections he’s now finding it relatively easy to borrow money.

This has all the hallmarks of McCabe's demise which started with relegation and buying foreign clubs here, there and everywhere when he should have been concentrating on making us established in the Prem.
There's something awfully familair to all of this?

Umm as well as players moving clubs within the umbrella... maybe managers and backroom staff ... who knows what The Prince is thinking 🤔

Course we have money to pay higher wages. We can pay the transfer fees so why not the wages.

Shame this club thinks british only is the way to go

Somebody has already posted a number of players salaries plus transfer fees and combined the cost over an average contract length (three year period)

Our deals look piss poor by comparison

And Sander Berge is..............

Imagine McCabe though seeing Ferencvi playing in the Champions league. If only he wasn’t obsessed with Land.

I've thought that a few times. In fairness all seemed good until the financial crisis hit McCabe hard as it did many businesses and I recall he started selling off the clubs then. Aaron Mooy came through at Central Coast Mariners also, not sure if it was after our arangement mind.

Thought the Prince had no money. How many clubs has he bought

No wonder Wilder is getting pissed off! Generates millions for our bog roll Prince and he spends it on buying up other foreign football clubs rather than investing properly in Wilder's team when desperately needed to plug injury gaps.
🤔😉

Bottom of ligue 2 eight points away from a 'relegation play off spot'....maybe hes a masochist who loves the agony of relegation?

Fantastic! i was just musing how we could get our midfield back to being somewhat competitive and all im thinking is, we need to buy a really shit french team

It's a reasonably cheap way of making it easier for United to sign overseas players. And it's Sheffield United, not Wilder United. There's going to be a club after he leaves and it seems like it's being strengthened responsibly

To be fair, he's spent the money to make us 'established'. That fact it's been spent on players that don't improve us isn't his fault.
Not upping wages has been our problem

Can't he just concentrate on make United great?
