This means that we wont be have to go for the ‘recognised’ internationals or regular first team players from other top European leagues (which will have massive premiums slapped on them for British clubs post-brexit).

interesting it does show we are working hard to expand our links and networks which can only be good news.

I don’t know if it hit the news for you guys in Belgium but there were certainly rumblings in preseason that United were looking at taking a couple of youngsters on trial from Colombia and that our chief scout might have been over for a trip. So the South America thing might not be as far fetched as it sounds.

It was once announced on our club website, I think 2 seasons ago, that we had a collaboration agreement with America de Cali in Colombia. Our ex player Daniel Cruz who was a Colombia international is technical director there. So there are links but no ownership has been announced. Would make more sense to me than buying clubs in Dubai and India. With all respect but there is no world talent coming from those countries the first decades.

Think PA is a lot smarter than McCabe, and listening to him talk knows more about football as well.

Yeah I agree I think the Dubai purchase is more of a prestige thing for the prince. The India one is interesting as theoretically the sporting talent should be there but their league system has been a shambles over recent decades. If it could ever be sorted out it should be a pipeline of talent but that takes more than one club.
 
Sharing scouting knowledge and work around for work permits.

Interesting to see how championship clubs deal with all the changes no more signing schin dildoe from Zult Wargem, may have to focus on developing English talent from their own academy or lower leagues for a change

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Beerschot will be a feeder team for us, given how well they're doing!

We aren’t buying these clubs like before. We are simply part of the wider portfolio. Although if we manage to cling on to our Premier league status that would obviously make most powerful club in the group.

Feeder club sounds very negative. But the idea is that the next Wanyama, Dembele, Sander Berge can go from Beerschot to Sheffield. A club like Beerschot will always have to sell if it has a world talent. Then it’s better to have a cooperation with you where we also have benefits from loan players like Coulibaly.
 



Have we set up links with a club in the only region of France not known for producing football talent.

You would think with a population of 1.3 billion with a proper structure and investment there would be quality available. There was an interesting interview with Steve Bettis last week in The Athletic explaining how it all works. For instance there is one board for all four clubs.

Yeah simply playing the numbers it should be a relative hotbed of talent now granted football will always play second fiddle to cricket but you’d think there would still be a fairly steady production line of talent given the right infrastructure but the same could’ve been said of China and it’s yet to really bare fruit.

I am not a believer. Football has to be in your dna. Belgium only has 10-11 million people but football is in our dna for 150 years and that’s why we develop better players than China and all these other countries that don’t have the same history. Uruguay and Argentina are also good examples of real football nations. If you have a 100 year plan, maybe, but the first 30 years not much to be expected and so pointless to put money in when you can set up an academy in Uruguay or Cameroon.

America is slowly producing talent. No reason bigger countries than theirs can't eventually

You make a valid point that the desire to play has to be there from a young age and the coaching has to be up to standard to nurture talent and it will take time. China is certainly an example of this not working but South Korea has made massive strides over the decades the USA too would appear to be producing top quality talents at a fairly consistent basis now but these have both been long term projects with lots of invested parties it’s certainly not something a single club or even group of clubs can achieve.
 



Does anyone else think buying clubs makes me winder if we are his priority
