Under NW in the Premier League, SUFC identified that we had a weak scouting network for that level and we couldn't go out and get players in Europe/ Africa as we just didn't have the contacts.

So in Micky, do we now have a man with contacts and knowledge of the lower leagues again, to snaffle up a bargain or two?

Was this factor critical to him getting the job?

Bit of an odd comparison, I don't think the ability to properly scout Africa came up in Micky's interview but I get the gist of what your saying.

I hope with his appointment we do get a bit of lower league talent spotting thrown in. For me it's one thing we seem to have been missing for the last few years, the ability or willingness to take a chance on some talent from further down the leagues.

For what it's worth though the overseas link ups must be providing some feedback on talent in the countries? That's the minimum I'd be expecting.

The point i'm making is that I think we got dazzled in the headlights and thought that Europe and beyond was the future, perhaps for that one season in the PL is was/ should have been, but ever since we've thrown money at Premier league players and whilst we've had some good players, they've cost us

We only seem to attract the Premier league loanee market instead of looking at the lower leagues for permanent signings like Ward... and Taylor

I'm with you all the way on this, if I could pick a club on which we should base ourselves in scouting\transfer market it's be Reading. They always seem to unearth gems from lower leagues and Europe. The likes of Doyle, Sigurosson, Long, Sidwell, Hunt (both of them) and Kitson.

Found, developed and sold for a tidy profit in most cases.

we were linked with Vales keeper in the summer
savage could be the new mccall his contract expires in the summer and he has worked with Adams before
