...Do people want??
Passing football which involves knocking it round the back 4 for 20 passes and trying to make an opening... something like arsenal?

Or

Attacking football where we get down the wings and get the ball into the box pushing the midfield forward

Or

Clearing the lines at the back, launching it forward for the strikers to hold up or wingers to chase after.

Goals, wins & promotions are what matter. Do you think Donny fans are happy if they lose, as long as they managed to string 10 passes together across the back?

Winning football, starting by getting the shocking defence sorted. Two early signings at centre back (decent signings) should go along way to helping in that area.

exciting. I think Micky's comments about getting into the box have been taken out of context. Let's be fair we have been fucking about with it outside the box all season as the goals for stat shows us.

We're still on a cost cutting exercise. Why is everyone going on about signings for fuck's sake. There is no cash to spend.

Heard Lee Collins is mean't to be quite good, fast and can play anywhere across the back four.

Can't you just go to posts started by Len and Micathingy; it would save you from even thinking about being positive.

Sorry, didn't realise we were like most clubs. Anyway, have you got the link to the article for who said it etc;

I've a feeling there may be a bit of 'in and out' before the window shuts.

As for the style of play...one where we score more than the opposition will do. That is the aim of the game after all, not how many passes we can make!

It's a myth that Arsenal score all their goals after 20 passes. They're very good at counter attacking, helped by aggressivity in midfield, an aim to get behind the opposition and pace.

Have a look at their two last goals against Chelsea, and count the amount of passes they require to score the goals, and tell me what part of those goals require sublime skill?

"On Friday morning Mr Birch called all the academy staff into a meeting to discuss our current situation. He stated as we know that we have been living beyond our means and this has to stop which obviously requires substantial cuts.
He said he wanted another £3 Million off the wage bill although £5 Million would be ideal and they wanted us to be more academy focused. While dodging the questions about mixed messages, cutting costs while wanting more players to come through he did actually answer one. One of the coaches raised the question of what is the point of the academy if the manager will never give the young players a chance. Mr Birch replied that it was a good point and one they were aware of."

Okay, I'll accept the above as hearsay but how about this?

"Our wage bill is two to three million higher than we wish it to be," admitted McCabe, whose reportedly about to step aside. "We have been amongst the top payers in the division since we were relegated from the Premier League. In the Championship, we are one of the last clubs to pay a lot of money for a player. We speculated to try and get back (to the top flight). We didn't succeed and we can't go on speculating. If we get new investors, then that might give us a different view."

Or this?

"The losses were very disappointing and unacceptable," said Birch. "Over the last three years since we have been relegated, we have made losses which are unsustainable going forward. We've pursued a policy of trying to run with a very high wage bill in comparison with our competitors in order to achieve promotion back to the Premier League. It hasn't worked; we haven't been successful and at some stage we have to start living within our means. Kevin (McCabe) has funded those costs and he is now saying 'enough is enough.' The club has to stand on its own two feet. We have got to make sure that we put this club back on an even keel."

And finally,

“The manager will teem and ladle with players and the squad will be shortly boosted by the return from long term injury of Darius Henderson and Lee Williamson. There may be opportunities to manoeuvre if investment comes forward,” added Mr McCabe.

And the money is where exactly? If investment comes forward. Right.

If you pass to each other you keep the ball. Once you get in or around the penalty area you can strike at goal.

Alternatively you can whack it up the field and hope for the best.

You lot claim to be proud of your club yet you regard us as so inferior as to be never ever worthy of attractive passing football.

'We haven't got the players to play passing football' - What an indictment - Get rid of 'em! Replace them with players who can think for themselves, be comfortable in possession and use the ball creatively. You don't need to be Arsenal or Barcelona to do it. Some of you want a glorified pub team.

There's a reason why the best teams play the best football. Barcelona could easily equip themselves with the eleven most effective hoofers on Earth. Stop for a moment and reflect why they don't.

Where on earth did you pull that one from? ;)

On terms of style the getting the ball in the box and not taking many touches is hardly inspiring.

plus you can probe for weaknesses and constantly change the point of attack.. but i digress..

>You lot claim to be proud of your club yet you regard us as so inferior as to be never ever worthy of attractive passing football.
brilliant mate.. fucking bravo you've just topped sothall :D

some of you prattle on about hoofball and blackwell but we didn't play hoofball under blackwell in the proper sense.. hoofball is about field position which was why the criminally underrated john gannon was so important.. he was the one who took all of the free kicks and corners.. under blackwell we played anti football.. hoping to nick a goal on the break and trying not to lose... we could only achieve this as we had the best defence in the division.. most of whom we have now sold

No but to do it we need their money

;)

But "chaos" in the oppositions box is inspiring.
I now think that Micky used the word carnage not chaos. I'm up for that.
