But they weren’t the best while they were here. On that basis, you could say Ian Rush was one of the best strikers we’ve had, even though he was dreadful while wearing a red and white shirt.

Edwards. Master of skulduggery, dark arts, craft, graft and an excellent finisher by any means.
Had a football brain, could bring others into the game and also assist goalscoring.
Took corners and free kicks but Not penalties. Partnered Bobby Hatton, I think Mel Eves and Young but will be corrected, but his best was Colin Morris.
How he didn't play top division is a mystery to me, scored goals wherever he went.

hindsight is a wonderfull thing - I agree.

I thought DCL was never going to score for us. But you could see he had all the physical traits you could ask for, he looked like a proper footballer. Obviously just needed that time to develop.

Well no wonder you are called miserableblader. Thought you might be an oinker so I had a quick look at your post history. Nope, I doubt you're an oinker but for fuck sake you really are one miserable blade aren't you! No posts at all between June 2016 and the 2nd half of the 2018 season when we were blowing our chances of the playoffs. That's zero posts during our fantastic 100 point league 1 season. Then no posts at all during our fantastic first half of the 2017/18 championship season. Then you post just a couple of pieces of tittle tattle until this lockdown period and you start posting again, when of course, incidentally we are dog shit.

As I said I doubt pork, but jeeeeeees I wouldn't want you sitting next to me on the kop!

DCL was an 18 year old who didnt look like a L1 player at that time
So the whilst at the club he wasnt very good

Adams a decent stiker he certainly isnt and will never in the same class as Woodward and Currie and since then Deane

Brooks great talent he may well go on to be a great player if he fulfills his potential

If the 3 had played together whilst they were here (were they even here at the same time) they cetainly wouldnt have pulled any trees up in the Championship

Spot on Bladey! Up until the early seventies our board was content to see football and cricket at Bramall Lane in other words no ambition just happy to be reasonably successful in the top two divisions.
It all changed when the decision to build the south stand was made which meant no cricket ,finally a sign of ambition from the board as the realism cricket was a millstone around our neck.
It had to be done to compete as the maximum wage structure within the game was taken away .Wages began to soar and we were in danger of being left behind.( ironically that happened anyway ).
Taking on a 750 thousand £ debt to build it was probably serviceable while a division one club ! unfortunately we got relegated and our financial woes began,which have been with us ever since .We keep toying with the idea of being a top league club always falling short as cash is always in short supply and bringing in top players is beyond us due to low wages.
We have arrived again ! the same problem is with us again with the same outcome.
We have sold players in the past which didnt help.
