Accepting that all the parachute, transfer out,tv,gate money has paid the bills why do we end up with players like Notworthy ? :brick:

because our wage bill for the past 4 seasons has been between £9 and 14 Million more than we can afford.
You minus that from your parachute payments and the West Ham money and you don't have much left.

ok Bob ..... but if you accept that i'm sure we could do better with the funds available.

The bizarre decision was to let Blackwell plan and spend throughout the Summer and then sack him 3 games in. Let's hope Port Vale have a couple of Chumpionship standard, cheap defenders we can pinch.

We will be paying a sizable chunk if not all of notworthy's wages and he will be on a decent wage compared to quite a few other players in the team........

so in reality, the money we have used on bringing him in on loan for the season could have been used to bring in a cheaper player who can actually defend.

Didnt some of the billy sharp money pay for notworthy's wages for this season?

I agree - we should have accepted his resignation after the play-off final balls up.

the bizarre decision was to renew monty and quinns contracts.. i mean people were queing up to buy them.. (and if they were any good we'd have sold them by now.. that should tell you enough on its own)

Except Monty was very, very close to signing for another team currently doing much better than us.

Maybe because they are not lumbered with Monty's plodding, shadow-chasing mediocrity. We are!

Is it part of Monty's unique job description (no football required) that he is to be absolved from all blame for our present plight?

Absolutely not, it doesn't magically alter real world events to match a specific opinion either :)

careful,Foxy...don't let a few facts and a different opinion get in the way of some wanting to make a scapegoat out of a player.

Leeds I think. Incidentally I can't remember a worse centre back at BL than Nosworthy over 50 years

Bates said no player turned Leeds down in the summer. Obviously I believe him. Somehow Birch fell for a bit of talk by Monty's camp that Leeds were interested. Unbelievably you then have a few Blades who think Monty is somehow vital to the club and the nex thing he's one of our best paid players on a 3 year contract. Truly beyind belief.

Totally agree ,Mic. The Board must have been unsure with KB in the summer and giving 3 players exended contracts to such an extent was senseless. Offering one year extensions, imo would have been suffice if we felt it necessary but the current climate,we could have left the decisions a further 6 months surely.

We could always do a straight swap for our league 2 defenders!

Again??? How many more times will he be "very very close to signing for someone else" yet still fail to do so?

Maybe the reason said team's doing better than us is simply because he didn't sign for them ;)

We must have some agreement with Sunderland that we have to keep Nossy if we want to hang on to Reid longer.

no idea, doesnt make it any less true though does it?

i'd imagine hes now wishing he didnt change his mind.

Ken Bates said nobody has turned down Leeds down this summer - ie no offer made to Monty. Seems like you have other info but I believe Batesy. Not a chance would Bates offer him what he wanted imo.

Well now. Much as I like to line up and give SUFC broadsides with the best of them, the notion that Ken Bates is to believed instead of pretty much any other human being, past, present or future is a step too far for me.
