When will people release it’s not about the future it’s about now , we need a goal poacher now , fuck his age get him on the fucking pitch .
22 chances and he still picks McShitty , I bet McShiity starts against Leicester, mind you it’s to fucking late now we’re fucking down so it doesn’t matter who he picks .

You’ve missed the point of the thread though. No one is saying Sharp is the saviour but if he plays tonight I back him to score some of those chances over any other player in the squad.

I’ve already pointed out that he’s not much use when we’re not creating anything but then that’s not what we want from him. When we are creating chances, like tonight, I’d back him over any of the 3 strikers we had on at the end to score. He’s our best finisher.
If mcbs, moose and Brewster's chance falls to sharp he's on a hatrick. He's an out and out poacher and goalscoring machine. He literally lives for popping up in the 18 yard box.

Anyone that refers to Mcburnie as “Mcshitty” is a cunt IMO. Sorry for the profanity but he’s a United player and he doesn’t need our own fans slagging him like some Celtic supporting wanker. Anyway, back on topic, I love Billy and I believe he could have made a difference this evening coming off the bench. We played OK and created a load of chances so maybe he would have scored one.

Your right I am a cunt 😇

Which place in the starting squad, or subs bench does Sharp take for any game. Wilder could be desperate for a goal from anyone, or anywhere, but sadly, Billy Sharp, blades legend, is not the answer.
Do you pick him ahead of anyone else? McBurnie, Burke, Brewster, McGoldrick, Moose? Playing in the EPL is never going to be Sharps job any more, even as a sub, unless we have 4 strikers injured.

Sharp is already a Lane icon, but his time has come and gone.

"Could have" is not the same as "would have" which is an unknown. Because we haven't been getting the ball to the strikers where needed, unlike tonight, his game has suffered too. A character like him won't like being dropped, obviously, but this certainty that he would have got a hat trick or whatever is wishful thinking, for some just adding the the McBurnie haters list of claims.

The "Wilder hates Billy" storytellers will ramp up their claims now.

I point blank refuse to accept and agree that in that list you provide, Sharp is 6th choice striker.

Point blank.

Take your pick who he replaces after tonight.

Moose and Burke are the only ones who’d have a right to feel aggrieved for me.

I'd fuck off somewhere in January if I was Billy. It's almost offensive not to be on the bench with our current shit-show of finishing "skills".

I reckon he’s hanging on to try and finish his career here but I really think he’s got a decision to make if someone comes in for him lower down. I still think he’d be the difference between promotion and staying down for a team in league one for example.

The point of this thread seems to be hindsight. Yes Billy may have scored had he been brought on, and those exact same chances had been created.

He also may have been brought on, done nothing and then we’re talking about not having chances instead.

Our problem is down to two major things:

1) Our whole strike force and team are currently (rightly) low on confidence, and CW has rightly thought that between the starters and the bench options there should be enough to get the goals, not accounting for the low confidence they have. One goal goes in and all the tam gets a lift. It didn’t happen for us.

2) All our strikers offer something different, so by dropping one you lose that attribute. No McB means no aerial threat. No McG means no link up play / creativity. No Moose means no player with power and pace combined. No Burke means no pace and skill / assist threat. No Sharp means no poacher instinct in the box. Brewster is a young lad that we’re still trying to figure out but his confidence seems to be growing.

My thoughts anyway.

We are going to be lower down.

No smoke without fire, or bullshit
I did’nt think it was a secret that they don’t see eye to eye.
I don’t think Wilder is comfy with Billy’s “Mr Sheffield United”(wilders own words) status.
It’s been confirmed to me on quite a few occasions by folk much closer than I am to those concerned.

It doesn’t really matter what you are prepared to accept, or where you rate him as a striker in the current squad.
He is one option available to Wilder and, while his age is against him, he does not have the skill set to replace any of the others. They are all players who can offer more in a game than Sharp can.
McGoldrick has learned, and adapted his game and he is more relaxed than he was last year, missing chances galore.
Sharp does not have an alternative to his game. He’s a finisher, pure and simple. He is not sufficiently gifted or adaptable to replace any other striker, in a top flight game.
He will only play if 4 of our strikers are injured, or suspended. That is the reality of it, whether you are prepared to accept it or not.

I’d like to think that’s not true because if it is then it’s just pathetic and childish.

Sharp is exactly the kind of player you want for trying to grab a goal in the closing stages when you're getting the ball in the box, he's not someone you want running the channels with McBurnie miles away from him and no support from midfield which is how he has been used so far this season.

Although Wilder is against five subs from 9, it'd create an option on the bench for that extra striker for those specific circumstances and maybe give us the Bogle option.

Wrong simple as that.
He has the skillset to replace any of the others, a fit Mousset will be better but we rarely saw that last season.
A more experienced Brewster will probably go on to be better than Sharp.
On his day McGoldrick is better than Sharp.
The other 2 aren't and never will be.
Right now Sharp is still the consistently best striker at Sheffield United.

How many goals has Sharp scored this season?

One more than McBurnie, Brewster & Burke, whilst having started only once in comparison to 6, 3 & 4 of those mentioned. I'll leave you to work out minutes played but will say he has also had the ball in the net which was disallowed for a foul in the build up.

Should have played against WBA and we would have been 3 points better off , he will get 15+ in the championship easy next season , IF he's played .

Right now with our current set of strikers struggling for confidence, there is no excuse to leave a proven goalscorer out of the match day squad. Saturday night was made for Billy to come on and grab a goal or two.

Ive said many a time on here that CW is our manager and should remain so for many a year. That said various Qs should be raised to him. The absence of Billy on Saturday night and matches previously in the match day squad, is definately one of those Qs which should be raised.

You’re right. But it’s a futile exercise.

Wilder won’t back track. Just won’t. He trusts his own judgement and will “claim” to see the bigger picture.

Sharp is now 6th choice striker in his eyes. Only injuries and suspensions will see him in the matchday 18 in the future. Even then, I wouldn’t be 100% convinced of this !!!!

There appears to be some sort of “placating” of the matter in that it’s been explained to him that his “role” is no longer as was. Like Jags, it’s to guide, educate and pass on expertise and experience. To be a mentor.

Complete and utter bollocks if you want my two penneth, and a tragic error of judgement on the part of Wilder.

But tis what it is. There you go !!!

Suspect bullshit. If you look a bit closer the date on the Whatsapp message is 31/01/20. If anything it's referring to the West Ham home game in January. Which we won and in which Billy was on the bench. The bit about Moose and Enda on the bench a week before doesn't add up either.

Well spotted Sir, I didn’t so it’s Bullshit.
