You know the saying “a player is nothing without his team mates”
”football is a team game,....individual skill players will struggle to thrive”

Well Maradona is the best example where that common saying doesn’t apply.
He was an individualist,,,,.and could create and score goals from nothing.....I’m sure the manager instructions were “just give him the ball”.
All left footed...struggled with his right foot and poor at heading too. However a fantastic dribbler, built like an ox with a low centre of gravity, with outrageous skills, his presence on the pitch struck fear into the worlds greatest defenders.

Put Maradona in a poor team and that team would still do well.
Put Messi in a poor team and he’s no where near as effective...Messi is more of an all rounder and plays better with better team mates.
Also remember that with Napoli Maradona excelled in the world best league with the worlds best defenders
who were allowed to be extra physical and share out fouls.

He was absolutely brilliant the best player certainly in my lifetime! I remember England playing a friendly I think against the argies and he sold Terry Butcher a right dummy then nearly scored...……...what a player. But like all geniuses at what they do was flawed for example George Best. Fondly remembered by me except the hand of god goal. By the way Lineker what a twat comment to make...….yes we all know!!!
