What's going on? - Coppell!

Out of the blue from nowhere Skybet (haven't confirmed it mysef) suddenly chuck into the ring at 7/2 second fav for the managers job, no other than...........................

.......................Steve Coppell!

A manager who's recently thrown the towel in at Brizzie

Amanager who I believe has gone on record as saying he wouldn't manage a club up north

A manager who probably wouldn't manage a club who hasn't got a pot to piss in!

Red Herring? Must be a complete non starter.....................surely?

That's mah boy! Excellent news.

I seem to remember Coppell's Crystal Palace being quite a "direct" team when they finished third in the old First Division.
It just shows the dangers of labelling managers as playing either "hoofball" or "good football".
Different styles but both Palace and Reading were exciting, attacking and scored lots of goals. So Coppell would certainly do for me if he's a realistic option.

its true ............. Wally has just jumped on the Mega Bus he's coming too !

I wouldn't want Coppell in favour of SOD or Adams.

We could be looking for our 4th manager in a season if we took this option.

His Reading team was an absolute delight to watch. He brought in supposed nobodies from Ireland and other very shrewd acquisitions like a Championship Wenger. They then outplayed the whole of the League and won it by a mile. It was pretty effective as well - a record points total wasn't it?

If we can get SC, the rest can SOD off: And I'm not taking the Micky!

He resigned on a point of principle at Bristol. He does not throw in towels; it's a myth. Look at his long service at Palace and Reading.

Why would a Northerner not work 'up North'?

Just reflect on the excellence of his Reading team for a moment and then think how little he spent in bringing in quality players from nowhere.

An intelligent, astute and quietly effective manager. As the modern idiom goes: What's not to like?

BETTING ODDS MEAN NOTING FOLKS. THEY ARE A REFLECTION OF WHAT PEOPLE ARE BETTING ON. PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME WHO DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THANK YOU. Sorry for the caps but I'm getting tired of seeing the latest odds like it's a race down to 1

He's a quitter Pinchy.

7 times he's left a club within a year.

Wow! I'm surprised they kept allowing him back.

Do you know the circumstances of all those departures?

He didn't quit on Reading or Palace, that's for sure.

Of course it's betting patterns and people usually don't know anything about it, otherwise the betting companies would go bust. You can see a pattern, it's just like stocks...

If the odds go down it MIGHT be an indication. People who actually do know something might have put some money in which gives an earlier unfancied choice a big cut.

Oooh, Adams drifting on Sky-Bet now to 4/5, SOD into 2/1.......................

If you don't want to read about it, don't go on posts with betting odds in the title. As Len would say, it's not rocket science
