Must admit I though exactly the same. The number of times Southgate was at the Lane last season he must have seen how good he was but waits till he’s warming Man U’s bench before giving him a cap.

Thank God - if he'd missed that pen the tartan army would have ripped his limbs off. Hopefully now he's a national treasure.
 
I hope Henderson does get a loan move in January, he needs to be playing football & he should be England's Number 1.

I just hope it's not to Burnley, West Brom, Fulham or Brighton.

Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up at a team like West Ham or Newcastle.

Yeah but you cant hold it against him for at least trying to fight to be man u number 1.

He had a good debut season premier league, his confidence would have been sky high. Maybe he genuinely believed he could have displace De Gea.

That’s what I thought too.
It was as though his whole international career was resting on that one penalty.
The pressure must have been immense. He wasn’t playing well on the few occasions he touched the ball and I kept thinking it would be fate for him to be the only one to miss. He looked nervous before the pen so normally nervous players go for power and hit it centrally
but credit to McB he stayed calm and casually slotted it into the corner...making it look easy.
 
Played all season for us in the Prem ( played very well ) and doesn,t get an england call-up , Played 0 minutes for Manure in the Prem and gets one ??? If that doesnt smack of favouring the so called big clubs for international call-ups i don,t know what does , its not how well you play its who you play for !!!!!!

You could argue that if he wasn't with us last year he would not have been in the squad in the first place.

Southgate can bog off everytime he was at our matches we lost.

Remember there were no internationals last season later than November, by which point Henderson had played about 10-15 games in the prem. He’s being picked now on the strength of his performances for us last season.
