Not good enough

Skipping over the majority of what i said. I’ll leave there mate, we have a different viewpoint.
Says the person who doesn't finish the rest of what I wrote when I said at times we played amazing 😐 you know how literally right after that I said we lacked the final ball or didn't whip it in quickly, irony is a bitch isn't it 😐

I mean let's ignore the fact that the only thing I disagreed really with the OP was that we don't have creativity, because we do, they just aren't doing what they are capable of. Oh and that Wilder deserves the benefit of the doubt after all he has done.

But hey I'm the ignorant one 😂

So we've had a difficult start and have just played the two best teams in the league. We performed well in the first, but struggled more today.

I know that is frustrating, but I don't think it's worth drawing too many conclusions based on today. I expect several players to perform better than that in the future.

Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea maybe fearsome going forward but they do allow teams to play and generally do afford you time on the ball....If you’ve got the ability to keep it of course.
My main fear is when we play the so called lesser clubs, our build up play is much to slow and gets stifled so easily then we just get picked off on the break. We might be putting on plucky “cup tie”displays against the big boys but we were fucking wank against Fulham.

Whatever you say 👍

What were the positives apart from half decent performance from berge
There wasn't exactly many, but we defended well, thought Lowe looked good, we showed we can move the ball about and put ourselves in the right places, we have players who can drive forwards with the ball, we just looked clueless in the final third, we worked hard as always.

Yes there is plenty of negatives, but to think that Wilder doesn't see what we do is just naive, to get on his back when you look at everything that has happened this season and the difficulties around it, the bad decisions going against us, honestly it's like people forget what Wilder has done for us. Yes he will make mistakes, but he isn't some of the dross we have had before.

Will wilder do something about it? Is it now 9 or 10 games since a win and only one draw. ?(maybe more, I have not checked) . The lack of positive football is worrying. At some stage the manager has to be questioned with regards to player selection and tactics
According to many on this forum, it’s unfair to question wilder and he will remain our manager until he decides to leave.

Yes, we've just played Liverpool and City, but before that we played Villa and Leeds and Fulham and even Wolves, who are a good side but one whom we took four points off last season.

The opponents in the last two games can't disguise the fact that this has been a desperately poor start to the season. We made a right horlicks of the transfer window, and that coupled with injuries means we're just not capable at this level at the moment.

I know they are a good side but the thing that disappoints me today is the fact we put a team selection out there not to lose & not to go out have a win.. last season & through CW reign we’ve earned our stripes by having gone out and gone toe to toe with the opposition and it’s obviously brought us success . If i’m honest I think we’ve been a lot more defensive in all our games this season .
We are desperately missing some craft / creativity in midfield and the frontline are living off scraps , I hope when Fleck comes back from injury he’s back to his best as need some who can up the tempo in there and from my own personal point of vie2 I’d recall Freeman forum his Forest loan if nothing else to give us an attacking option to use or bring on .
We’ve been very one paced and methodical and I certainly believe the no crowd is having contributing towards our slower tempo .
The November fixtures are gonna be very important & will give us a real measure of where we are but I hope for fucks sake we take the shackles off a bit , we need to start chalking up some wins .
Not saying go hung ho just saying have a fkg go ... UTB ⚔️

Oh please do enlighten me where I’m wrong. This should be good.
Well you said I was ignorant to the bad parts of the game, you know whilst choosing to be ignorant to my entire sentence 😐

But you won't admit to being ignorant to what I said 😂

Me personally am not getting on Wilder's back but he is well paid and should be big enough to accept criticism he's had the plaudits this run will be his biggest test since he's joined us hopefully he will pull us through I think when we play teams nearer to our level we will pickup some points and confidence will improve although I have doubts about some players suitability to the premier league

Maybe you do. I say it when I come across those susceptible to the ‘backfire effect’ when presented with facts that challenge their beliefs they only entrench in their position. So I save my breath
You mean how it backfired on you calling me ignorant when the fact is it was your ignorance and assumptions that have shown you to be a bit of a hypocrite and you don't like it.

Oh and FYI you are saving your breath by typing ya silly fuck 😐

Nothing about Wilders time in charge says he isn't big enough to accept criticism, like I say he will see exactly what we all see and will look to turn it around. He knows what we are capable of and won't be happy, but he is also realistic and can see the difficulties that this season is bringing.

Missing players like JOC and Fleck hurt us, with new players bedding in it means mistakes have been made, we have had many a bad decision already this season, we need a break and some confidence, yes this wasn't the same perfowe put in against Liverpool, but Man City played well and worked hard to nullify what we where trying to do.

I must admit I can’t watch us on the box anymore. I use that time to take the dogs for good 2 hour walk. I get so frustrated by our pedestrian approach and the way we seem to make things so much harder for ourselves. Our decision making on the field is poor at times and we have become very predictable team. Our formation used to be quirky when we were creating overloads and overlaps. But if it’s not working anymore, we’ve got to be more open minded to changing formation.

CW has previously mentioned that he doesn't go on football forums etc (not sure that I believe him tbh). He could do a lot worse though than to come on here and read some of the reaction and comments. There seems to be an overwhelming common theme about what the problems are.

Maybe just maybe, the number of people on here who have all been watching football for many a year, might just be able to see with their own eyes the bleedin obvious (quicker attacking tempo and getting crosses in earlier) which would help us win matches.

If the vast majority on here are all saying the same thing, maybe we have a point?

I don’t think people believe he can’t see what our problems are, I think what’s worrying the majority is what appears to be his inability to rectify it, currently.

Firstly, you literally said at times the performance was ‘amazing’. You’re being ignorant to the completely valid criticisms all but the blind can see:
  • Pace of our play is far too slow
  • We either play safe, slow, backwards or sideways or lump it to McBurnie.
  • We don’t shoot enough
  • We don’t hit the target enough
  • We have built a system based on overloading the wings. Yet we don’t overload any more.
  • We rely on defenders to create 95% of our chances
  • We NEVER try to create centrally
  • We have zero flair or magic in our team (I love Berge though)
  • Our recruitment strategy has been bizarre and we’ve wasted a lot of money
  • We’re seemingly conceding games before a ball is kicked.
  • Wilder is putting work rate over creativity when in years gone by he said working hard was the minimum.
  • We have no Plan B.
  • The number 10 was as important to our system as overloading centre backs and it’s been completely ditched.
  • Wilder is risking squad cohesion by continuing to involve Lundstram, but he won’t be told.
  • I remember when Wilder used to be furious after a loss (Hull away), now its Warnock-style excuses and distraction tactics bleating on about opposition price tags.

So it’s not just a grumble after a few defeats. The stats show we are an abysmal attacking side. The foundations we have built up over 3 years, after spending a decade asleep, are almost deliberately being ripped to shreds.
Very good post

I get that, but at the same time it doesn't factor in the sheer unlucky fact of bad decisions going against us. We haven't been as consistent as before because we haven't had loads of injuries and new players to bed in with a crap pre season.

There isn't much Wilder can do other than to change the formation, maybe we would be suited better playing one up top, but we have to give Wilder time and trust that he will do what is needed. He turned us round from bottom of league 1, nothing about his time here has given me any reason to doubt he doesn't know what needs to be done.
