Look at Yosser Hughes...Wanting a job he’s clearly not qualified to do.

Reactions: HVR
Let him go to Rangers where he will be a superstar of the Scots Prem, running rings around the likes of Hamilton Accies,Ross Couny and St Mirren four times a year.
He'll enjoy that.
Job satisfaction, maybe not so much .

I dunno, they'll be European regulars every season, that is until they meet someone above Faroe Island level anyway.............

Still stand by that one of the most damaging things long term for us was Lundstram playing well for those 8-10 games last year. In his 4 years at the club they’re the only good games he’s had and he’s been awful since. It’s clearly tricked CW too, hence us not signing a midfielder in summer. Disappointing

It's disappointing that we are still having to play him due to injuries and a lack of other options. Wilder has been quite clear during his tenure here that he's not interested in players who don't want to be here, Lundstram now falls into that category yet we've had no choice but to play him.

A replacement is now key in the January window, even if Lundstram stays to run the contract down to the end of the season, we need a replacement and to get him dropped from the squad.

We’ve offered him a very attractive contract that’s up there with the top players at the football club and he’s made a decision not to sign it”

“Cards on the table I think John should’ve signed it”

Chris Wilder on John Lundstram’s Sheff Utd future

Above quote taken from this morning’s press conference, we were not previously aware of the level of contract on offer, now we are
His agent is apparently the same as Duffy and it appears the advice s the same ——- chase the money
I know they only have short careers etc but he and his agent consider they are obviously worth more than the likes of fleck etc. On his day he is, unfortunately his day is not often enough.
He will no doubt have a deal lined up and his attitude portrays that of someone who will not want to move in January but to wait until next season when he will get a signing on fee
Look at Duffy as a bit part player for fleetwood, I know they at different stages of their career but I doubt we will see Lundstram play at a higher level than SUFC

not the type we want in our squad, thanks for your previous efforts and now good riddance
Possibly chance for Brunt in the short term

I'd keep him out of the side as much as possible now. It serves no purpose him being there, unless we really are desperate. I'd sooner see someone like Zak Brunt on the bench, who has a future at the club, than Lundstram.

Not sure what money he has to chase and can’t for the life of me think of a team that will still be in the in prem next season who is willing to sign him as a nailed on starter, let’s face it if it wasn’t our injuries he‘d be on our bench. Wouldn’t surprise me if he has already signed a pre contract with another club.

I honestly don’t think there will be a queue of a Premier League clubs looking to sign him on £60k a week tbh. He had a great run of games last season, which bought him some credit, but latter part of last season and all of this, he has been poor.

If he’s looking for a move away, I’d expect him to be putting himself in the shop window, but in terms of performance, he’s in the darkest recess of our store room 😉

It's a tricky one for CW particularly with us not being blessed with midfield options at present. If Freeman was still here or Fleck not injured Lundstram would be straight in with the reserves for me. Like many have said he's not got Basham or Sharp levels of credit in the bank. If the rumours last year about Bash to Newcastle were true I'd like to think he would gone with all our best wishes?

If Lundstram does play he will want to put himself in the shop window so to speak (until the point he signs a pre contract) and in fairness has played well on his "wrong" side. He does play the up and down the pitch midfield role better than anyone else I would argue. This contract situation has been rumbling on for months but hasn't really affected his game.

On the other side though what does this do to the morale of the likes of Osborn, Lowe etc on the left who won't play or be on the bench while Lundstram who refuses to commit his future to the club gets game time. CW always says he will pick the team based on the having the best chance of winning a game but also says everyone must be united behind the cause and in this case I don't think both of those things can happen.

Hopefully we can find a replacement in January

He was involved (goal or assist) in 21% of our goals scored last year, the second highest in the team beyond Mousset (26%, injured) and above Fleck (18%, injured). So two thirds of our goals came from these three!

It is painful to accept this sorry position, but the way of the football world these days.

We are unlikely to receive much at all, thinking if he is not sold in January he will go for free in the summer.

The days of player loyalty are long gone.

I don't blame Lunny, obviously the offer we have made is significantly less than he will receive elsewhere. I wager his agent has already lined up a few suitors.

A big pay day on the horizon. A substantial signing on fee (as little or no transfer fee will be paid) and big pay rise - a deal to take him to the winter of his career. He is securing his financial future in what is a short time.

If I could speculate, £3m+ signing on fee, annual salary for a five year deal say £60k per week totals £15.6m, add a few bonuses and it is nearly £20m.

Invest wisely and he will never have to work again.

It is difficult to know what the club can do. I reckon they have been trying to negotiate a new deal for sometime, difficult to achieve when we have a budget and modest wage structure, particularly if a players head has been turned.

HH

£3m signing on fee & £60k a week wages? Who on earth is going to pay him that...

Well wilder has confirmed the offer is in line with the other high earners at the club.

Lundstrum is lucky there is no crowd at the lane or I'm sure he would be hearing a few choice words.

“Up there with the top players at the football club” suggests to me we’ve offered him something near what other first teamers like Egan are Stevens are on (say the top 10 earners), which is more than I was expecting him to have been offered tbh. I would be very very surprised if it’s an offer say in the top 5 earners.

I don’t see any point spiting ourselves here , we don’t have the depth and can’t do anything till January

At least have him on bench till he goes

Freeman was an unused sub for Forest last night, maybe they'd be open to allowing him to return? They've had a change of manager since he signed and maybe Hughton doesn't rate him?

I know he's hardly going to be our midfield saviour, but he'd allow us to fuck Lundstram off to the under 23s and give us another option to play behind the front 2.

CW at 7.30 talks about Lundstram he sounds pissed off and says he is very frustrated that Lundstram and his agent chose not to sign the contract as he wanted him to stay.

In answer to the question " will you play him" he says he has to consider the short medium and long term and the players that signed contracts that are committed to the Club. Suspect that means he'll be in the squad to the JTW when we'll try to offload him and get a replacement in.

The daft roundheaded bastard will be back in the doldrums in no time at all. Flattered in our system.

To be honest, I'll be disappointed if he continues to play him. If you compare him to Michael Brown when he played the last year of his contract out and he was brilliant and the team were equally as brilliant so it made sense to keep playing him. Lundstram has been average at best since the Christmas and the team are now struggling.

Will it really make any difference to the team if we drop him to the under 23s until he leaves? I honestly can’t see it making us worse by dropping him or see us improve by playing him.

Pick players that want to be here, Jaydon Bogle has just signed for 4 years and can’t even get on the bench at the minute, I’d rather he got a chance than picking a player that is more interested in his next move than the future of United.

I wonder whether it’s a case of patience lost or that by speaking quite bluntly in public on it that this is to try and force Lundstram’s hand a bit to sign what’s been offered – we’ll probably not have to wait long to find out. I think at any rate he probably comes out of the team next game with Lowe back and Osborn probably switching back.

He also indicated that so far JL has given no indication of not playing at his best.
Up to CW to decide whether his best is enough.
Just leaving him out because he will not sign makes no sense.
What happens if no one wants him in Jan ? Does that stop us adding to the squad ?
What happens if no one wants him on higher wages in July ? Do we try to keep him ?

I think that we can make changes to the squad, so remove him and add a new signing

We've tried very hard to keep him and he doesn't want to stay. CW says its Lundstrams intention to run his contract down so the signing of the contract ship has now sailed.

In answer to the question would he still be picked there was not a definite yes answer more CW would have to take into account the interests of the players who wanted to play for the Club and consider what happens in the short medium and long term. He also referred to looking to the future.

As someone else has posted CW has to consider how the likes of Bogle who has just signed a 4 year contract will react to being kept out of the squad by someone who doesn't want to play for the Club anymore. In the short term Lundstrams in the shop window for a transfer so he'll likely play if needed IMO. After the JTW if he doesn't move on I expect he will be surplus to requirements except in an emergency and be consigned to dragging his heels for the rest of the season.

My guess is he's in the squad until Fleck returns from Injury

Then we have:

Ampadu
Norwood
Fleck
Osborn
Berge
Rodwell (😂)

Who can cover the 3 positions, with Berge getting better by the game, and Amps looking strong as the holding role, seems obvious Berge make then RCM position his own.

Injuries permitting that can easily take us through until Jan

We then flog him in January, and sign a replacement. If not sign a replacement anyway and let sit in the reserves.

No loss.
