Afternoon all,

Roygbiv and me knock back a strong coffee and get stuck into the archetypal game of two halves from the weekend, including a first 45 that I thought was as good as anything we've seen since before I'd heard of the word "covid", and then a nightmarish second which brought back all the worries and some new ones. Talked about an interesting team selection, McBurnie's finishing, lack of individual quality, how much we didn't like the penalty award, the worst handball since Jagielka tried to get us deliberately relegated so he could move to Everton and become an England international*, Tom Cairney running the show, and Billy Sharp's first Premier League goal in the front of the Kop. Also, our now-weekly segment on the escapades of Jordan Pickford.

Thank you for listening, as always.

*For avoidance of doubt, this is a joke

Also on Apple and the old Spotify.

Tremendous. Thanks as always. Will make the drive back home from work more bearable.

* For the avoidance of further doubt, that was Pinchy (and he wasn't joking).

I just assumed that Robinson handballed it on Sunday to secure his own big money move to Everton in the transfer window.

I suppose I will listen to the Pod at some point this week but I have decided to do the footballing equivalent of go sober for October and not watch anymore football until after the next International break.

Listened to the first half of it on the way home today. It’s negative without being negative if that’s possible. I’m in a pretty negative state of mind when it comes to our chances at the moment.

Great pod again. Agree with Derek above, you 2 do look very realistically at us. I absolutely agree on the Fulham players having more individual quality. I was thinking this even as we dominated in the 1st half. Crainey and the other dude in the middle were outstanding.

Would you be feeling as negative if we had been poor in the 1st half and good in the 2nd? I watched the game on my own in the middle of the night in NZ and felt quite positive after the performance, obviously the 1st half.

Thankyou for the pod , but I’m kinda hating Football at the moment

As usual...an excellent report...enjoyed it.

I also thought it was a weird performance.
First half...we were back to our normal standard from last season....high tempo...creating chances at will....making Fulham look really poor.
Many reasons to feel positive....thought Norwood was impressive helping our midfield dominate.

Hand on heart thought we were very decent 1st half...looked a comfortable mid table side.....reasons to feel optimistic.

The second half we dropped off our intensity as Fulham gradually took over.
Norwood became a spectator...really lightweight. My sadness was when Brewster came on for McGoldrick.
I was excited to watch our new signing but we became much worse after McGoldrick went off.
Brewster hardly touched the ball on his debut. Fulham deservedly scored and we were lucky to scrape a late equaliser.

Hand on heart we looked knackered and lacking quality in the 2nd half....thought we looked like a relegation side....reasons to feel pessimistic.

Just listening to the end of your podcast.....I can confirm that I paid the £14.95.
I could have got a free stream but I saw this as our most important match in ages....so was willing to pay the money...didn‘t want to risk any freezes.
However I doubt I’ll be paying that price again unless there’a vital game towards the end of the season.

I listen to the pod to make me feel better when we lose and you made me feel worse!
I agree with your point....I suppose they were just being honest.
I feel the same as them.....we looked very good in the 1st half but for the 1st time in ages....I thought we had a look of a relegation team in those last 30 minutes.
I just wanted the game to end. We lacked energy and ability....so it was concerning.

The good news though...is there’s plenty of the season left and we do gave some excellent players to bolster the team (Fleck, Mousset, Brewster, OConnnel).
